  1. 90% of the time, I have a tube amp connected to my LaScala's, but when I'm in the mood to crank them up, I'll connect a 200 to 350 watt SS amp and shake the basement rafters. When I come upstairs afterward, the two cats are looking at me with their ears up on high alert.
  2. He is running like a 50 watt swamping resistor because he kept burning those up on the original build from Al.
  3. On the Phase Linear Forum, there is a guy named Lee. He drives k-horns with a PL700 (350watts/ch) and has ALK steep slope crossovers because he listen at about 300 watts RMS. He HAS to be deaf by now...
  4. I can already see some of my posts have been deleted. Come on… I’ve been mild mannered.
  5. I just assumed that if someone went to Dean for a crossover, the deal was way past the “selling” phase. Maybe not.
  6. I can't imagine this particular metallized polyprop cap is anything special compared to a WIMA or other good name brand metallized polyprop cap. Bennic private labels for a lot of customers and they seem to have a good reputation for OEM's. What led you to these caps Dean?
  7. I have used similar caps as these Panasonic's in crossovers and I thought they sounded pretty good. However, in some audio circles, these type of caps are "crap" and you're an idiot if you think they are good.
  8. I am curious, if I wanted to replace the old motor run type caps in my 1978ish Heresy's, what type of new cap would I get from JEM?
  9. In a word; choices. Not to be disrespectful, but does a thread need a meaningful purpose? Maybe we like to discuss 'whatever" in threads like this. Our minds are active, maybe that's the point and we like to think for ourselves. Although that has been frowned upon lately in society.
  10. My guess is the original Cornwall network may sound forward compared to the universal. But hey, that's part of the fun; choices.
  11. Being a (Jantzen) metalized polypropylene cap, do you think they sound different enough than another quality brand of the same type of cap for the price delta?
  12. If building Heritage type networks... should include the type of wood used for the network? Cherry might sound different than walnut or plywood. All joking aside, I do love that the network is on a huge piece of wood that is easy to work around.
  13. The "universal" is a great design. In my opinion it adresses the issues and limitations properly of the drivers and the complexity of it is not invasive. In addition, leave out the Zener diodes and add the light bulb trick and you're good.
