  1. Hey Guys, This may not be the best of vintage gear, but it holds a sweet spot in my history of audio... It was the first receiver I ever received, Its mint and from 1979 & 35W Per Channel RMS ( under rated ) looking for a new set a HERSEY's Do you think this will be enough power? I hope so Thanks guys, If not I will look for another deck.
  2. Going to local dealer tom to hear the 62's in person, Will update thread soon.
  3. Thanks!!! I will call him on my lunch break, Maybe get a price on RF62IIs+RC62II They are actually one of the sellers I see all over ebay.
  4. Would any of you guys have objection buying from that listing? good price? Looks good to me and Authorized as well. From the sounds of it they will be no diff than brand new and like $300 cheaper.
  5. Hey Guys, This week I will start calling Klipsch dealers for pricing. I read on here in maybe this post or one of my post guys have just called each dealer to get pricing and gone with the best which I will probably do as well. When scouring Ebay recently for RF62 II's they have been few and far between usually around $950 w/free shipping but what keeps popping up is RF 82 II's ( claimed open box whether from a show or customer return ) 100% full warranty and from authorized Klipsch online retailer which is easily verified on Klipsch's site. Perfect example : Click Here : RF82 II's ( pair ) $960 Shipped $960 Shipped RF82 II's ( If I could find 62's for $875 or so id prefer ) Although the 62 is my preferred speaker with 82's showing up almost same price its hard pass up. Just dont want the 82's to look like overkill in my room and need to stay wife friendly All comments welcome Im getting excited as I just sold my SB3/SC1 setup and have the cash to buy the new stuff.
  6. The set I linked to was real fast, Either would be purchased in Ash Black. 82's although a great deal maybe look a little huge in my living room. Going to compare sizes to the 62's might be semi overkill for how much I can crank it up here. I know bigger is better but have to keep the wife happy as well.
  7. Awesome I cant wait!!!, Yes they are who I saw some of the great prices, They even had a pair of RF82 II's for sale for 799+60 shipping says knicked in shipping and cant sell as new but 100% functional and warranty. For giggles I asked for pics of the damage, He just wrote back " Its very minor or I wouldnt be selling them" Call me for details. $799 for RF82 II's minor dent / scratch or RF62 IIS new for $849 price both + $60 shipping. Sound Distributors - RF82 II's EBAY I cant wait to get the new speakers
  8. Nice, I plan on getting something like this in the future just cant afford it right now as will be shelling out the cash this week for my new front stage. Yeah its angled, I thought since it was so much lower than the mains it would be better angled ( I was wrong and new center will be flat ). FIXED LOL see above for reasoning, I was wrong. Change of plans, I lowered my price to $200 and I have a guy who wants to pick them up this week ( SWEET ), I would of tried in the rears but I would rather save a little and get the appropriate reference rears in the future. Sweet glad to hear im in for a suprise in sound! I thought about other book shelfs but I have the room for the floor standers and there less prone to being top heavy with the little guy running around. I will keep you guys posted, Still getting prices for many diff Klipsch dealers to get the best price, It seems for the RF62II's the best so far is $799 for a pair.
  9. Hello All, I Havent changed my rig in a long time, But now that I finally have a few bucks its time! Forever I have had ( basic ) Klipsch SB3 front speakers, SC1 center, and little baby Quintetts in the rear. My sub is still a basic KSW12, No need to update as im in a condo and neighbors already knock on my door from time to time ( when I move its getting upgraded ). Front Rear Now im upgrading my front stage, Next week I should be replacing the fronts and center with the following : RF-62 II Fronts RC-62 II Center I would love to get the proper RS-52 II rears but I cannot afford them as of yet, Now my dillema is originally I was going to sell my current front/center setup, I listed it on Craigslist but just low ball offers. Is $250 too much money for SB-3's / SC-1 Center / WoodTech Stands all mint? Since I am not getting many hits would they be better re-purposed as my rears replacing my Quintetts? I wasnt sure if they would be just wasted on rears firing into my couch as they are not as tall, I can push out my rears from 2ft to 3ft if need be ( I have the space ) Heres some measurements to help : Quintetts on stands ( top ) - 45" Top of couch cushion- 38" SB3's on stands ( top ) - 38" Stands - 21" Rears are currently 2ft from couch and can go as far as 3ft. Would love to hear any input as it would be benificial. Basic room layout : M = Mains C = Center R = Rears Thanks guys!!! PS... Do you guys think this new front stage is going to make a huge difference in sound? Im hoping and pretty sure it will.
  10. Thanks Buddy!!! Yeah I know we have a baby gate thing caging off the audio stuff, I know what you mean hes starting to touch everything. Im sure RF62 II's will be more stable with him vs the SB3 bookshelves. I have posted these for sale while I wait to find a good priced set of RF62 II's Kids are a ton of fun but also a learning exp which im sure you know better than me but im seeing it already
  11. Agreed!!! Gonna wait for deal unless I come into some extra cashola Cant wait to get some new speakers though, Just itching to upgrade its been a while.
  12. Thanks thats what I needed ( someone to bring me back to reality ) Thanks! It was the " Impulse thought " hahah. Gotta sell my SB3's SC1 center and stands asap to help fund the RF62 + RC62 purchase
  13. RF 62's for $550 with few dings to drivers.. Good price? What do you guys think? Found someone selling these semi local or should I wait for a fresh pair of RF62 II's Being told it does not affect sound..
  14. Welcome to the forum, When I first signed up I was around 22 years old building a theater in my bedroom so I know exactly where your coming from. I just recently started posting again on here and it was like I never left. All the guys on this forum are great and always willing to help. I see you finally got the WF's Post pics of your rig after you have it all setup. He's right, its expensive but there are other hobbies that cost more.. Ugh I have a project car and a daily driver I started putting in a nice system as well. All fun hobbies tend to be expensive. If you enjoy it, its worth it!
  15. Cool Thanks! I will def contact them, I think the 62's will be a huge upgrade from what I have now and would be about as large as I would want to go in this room. I would also grab a matching RC62 center. Thats too funny swapping out the bigger boys for the 42's, They definitely always figure it out thats for sure (ive tried similar in the past). I will take a look thanks,
  16. Totally understood, I could always add an amp to my receiver for more power ( has full pre-outs ), My receiver is 80watts per channel RMS and supposedly they are underated.. I am still in a condo so not trying to get too crazy... Even with my current setup if I crank it im going to have neighbors bangin down my door, With that being said would you go with RF62 II's ( dual 6.5s ) or RB81 II's ( single 8 book shelf )? To my under standing dual 6.5s would pretty much emulate an 8" or so and sound better due to the bigger cabinet etc.
  17. Wow not a bad deal, Probably not looking to buy just yet but very shortly... Trying to sell my SB3's + SC1.
  18. Yeah kinda set it and forgot it with the speakers ( changed a few receivers ) Then had a kid bought a house and forgot about my system upgrades. At heart im one who usually likes to try different setups and tinker. Wow 82's? Although the best option they may push my budget my room isnt too too big, well its big enough but I rarely crank it really loud I dont know if I would be able to take full advantage of them. Personally I would love 82's just cant afford them currently. I could afford either RF-62 II's or RB-81 II's ( which would sound better 8" bookshelves or dual 6.5 floor standers ? ) From what im reading and hearing the 62 floors would be the better choice. Im all ears though and looking for which will sound better, I have a 12" sub to fill in on some of the low end. If I was in a larger house ( a few years ) I would def wait and splurge for the 82's but thats a few years out.
  19. Thanks! The bug has bitten me again so im sure I will be back posting questions, Helping where I can and enjoying the forums. I will def look into other newer receivers from ( DENON / HK / others ) I know Klipsch is picky and you have to be carefull with whats powering them to avoid harshness. Oh I hear ya on the get the best you can, My synergy's have lasted me almost 10 years so I will def aim for the best I can afford. I am totally for used gear and I am great at finding deals so I will keep my eyes open, I said it earlier in my post but ill mention it here too.. My current speakers are setup as ( SMALL ) in the deck so that the sub handles more of the bass Im assuming with larger fronts you can set them to large and offset some of the bass to the speakers and not leave it all to the sub. Larger front stage and higher quality speakers will most likely bring me a more musical setup as I know HT isnt as picky as 2CH listening. Thanks for the reply!!!! Cool so pretty much the improvement from my current speakers to ref book's would be an improvement as equally big moving from ref books to ref floors.. Looks like I should just shop for floors and do it once! Is there a huge difference with say 6.5 vs 8" woofers when a sub is present? Will bigger Front Woofers be more musical? The RF 62 II's looks they would fit the budget pretty good ( although the 82's are nice ). A new receiver will definitely be in the cards in the future just looking to see where Ill see the biggest improvement first. [ Darn Budgets ] hahah.
  20. Thanks man, When I bought the place I tried to make it as clean as I could within reason I agree it will fix the simplicity 100% but not so much sure it would improve the sound much ( I could be wrong again as im rusty ) but all components ie: XBOX360 / Cable Box / are plugged into TV with HDMI and the Mac mini DVI ( receiver is not touching the video ) then all 3 have Optical Audio out into the receiver. The deck is from 2004 and new was $700 ( I know its approaching 9 years old ) but has 7.1 DTS ES / DDEX/ full PRE-Amp outs etc its 80w x2 RMS in stereo or 65x7 in surround ( I know HK rates there watts low / underated ) and this big hunk weights 39lbs nothing like there new ones. If a new deck will help a ton I will def look into one in the future, Have to budget this out piece by piece. Full Specs - http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/elect/htreceivers/avr430.html Pics - Thanks!! I have had the SB3 / SC1 setup since around 2002 and definitely got my moneys worth, They still sound good just looking for something a little better. Hmm Heresy's maybe a little large I will have to look at the sizes of them. So far I have only looked at Reference line 6.5 bookshelfs ( RB-81 II & RB-61 II ) & floorstanders ( RF-81 II & RF-61 II ) Not sure how much of a diff in sound a 6.5 vs 8 will make and also from a bookshelf vs floorstand. Continuing to read and pick peoples brains on here. I am also not opposed to buying used as long as they are in good condition, Dont have to be the latest models either.
  21. Thanks! Yeah I've been so busy in last few years but now im becoming more of a homebody I will definitely be on here more again. Im sure its still a great forum. My Klipsch's have kept me happy for many years and they were only synergy's, Horns from what ive learned can be picky with the power you put to them and HK tends to work well. Cant wait for some new speakers. I would say I do 50/50 HT and 2 Ch music, Alot of times if im working from home or just enjoying some music it will be 2 channel but the rest of the time the system is providing the sound for cable tv and any movies we watch. My main choice will be deciding what mains to get ( replace bookshelves on the stands I already own ) or floorstanders.. Is there much diff in sound? Whatever I choose ill just pick up a matching center channel. Heres a current look at my setup:
  22. Hey Guys, Havent been too active lately with a new baby but a member since 2001 or so. Finally looking for some upgrades and was hoping I could get some ideas / suggestions. I havent really made many changes to my rig in a long time, Was debating on a new receiver with HDMI and a few more options, but then began thinking this may not be the weakest link in my setup. All this would do is give me maybe a few more options I dont need and clean up my wiring ( could be wrong ), but thats what this post is for. My setup consists of : Receiver - HK AVR-430 7.1 Mains - Klipsch SB-3 Center - Klipsch SC-1 Rears - Klipsch Quintet ( something new soon ) Sub - Klipsch KSW-12 ( no point it upgrading as I cant play super deep in Condo ) Eventually when I get a bigger house I will move to a better sub but with my current setup and situation im leaning towards a new front stage. My receiver I would like to think is still good and has decent power. What do you guys think would give me the best bang for my buck on doing some upgrades ? Im thinking 2 new front bookshelves or floor standers and a matching center channel. ( Klipsch Ref current or older ) Please feel free to suggest anything as i'm looking for ideas as I continue to do research.
  23. Thanks Again guys, While the Synergy 12 can be loud its not quite in the class of the HSU & SVS. These compete with subs of RW Class and beyond that but at the same price point. My synergy has been very boomy ( its loud ) but not too fast or responsive. I will definitaly look into Epik and possibly Outlaw as well, I have been hearing good things about there subs.. With a subwoofer the box construction and design is just as important as the woofer in it. The subs I have listed and the ones im looking for suggestions weigh in the 60lb+ range. They are priced from $429 - $499 One day ill upgrade my mains to Klipsch Reference but my Synergy bookshelves have been great.
  24. Thanks I will defininitly look into epik I have heard good things about them.
