  1. Is anyone here familiar with speakers from Martin Speakers USA, which was a division of Eastman Sound Manufacturing Corporation? Note that this company is not affiliated with Martin-Logan. Their original HQ was in New Jersey. Here's a link to their website - http://www.martinspeakersusa.com/ I just picked up a pair of their vintage bookshelf speakers - the binding posts are just like what used to be on my Lionel Trains transformer. Inside the woodgrain 'Formica' clad boxes (lookin' V good after ?? years) are a SEAS H-086 Dome tweet (looks just like the SEAS tweet in a Dynaco A25) and boooo, a Realistic 8" woof with 'invisible' (foam) surrounds. So my main hope is to get some enlightenment about what the original woofs were. I am considering replacement woofs from MCM, #55-1190. And I will entertain any recommendations from y'all... I'd post a pic of them if I could figure out how to do that. Seems that a simple copy / paste won't work here...
  2. I have a pair of KG 2 OO's. Looks like their build date was 02/07/90. Both their active and passive woofers have butyl surrounds. I see that there are re-foam surround kits for KG 2's. When did Klipsch build these speakers with foam surounds on the woofers?
  3. I recently acquired a pair of Heresy I's and see a lot of talk about replacing the two 2MFD caps in each box. So I checked their 'capacity'. All four are within a 3% tolerance, i.e. they range from 1.94 to 1.98 MFD. So, are they trash or treasure?
  4. I'm on my 3rd aftermarket head unit in the car, all three have the front-panel USB input. I think they max out at recognizing16Gb. I repurposed #'s1 and 2 USB-capable car units. Now, each is packaged with a class D switching power supply, ~ 13.8V DC output, maybe 2500 mA, and serve as lines-powered dedicated/portable MP3 music servers. One's in a metal 'CB Radio' enclosure, and the other's in a soft-side bag W strap. As for the thumb drives, I've put different genres on different ones ....Holiday tunes, Party, etc. Leo
  5. Is there something missing in my Heresy's? I just purchased a 1978 pair of Heresy's. When I looked inside, there is no acoustic batting. Did that come later, in the Heresy II or III versions?
