Well, the speakers I currently have are as follows; Fronts/Klipsch RF-15 Center/Klipsch SC-1 Surrounds/ Klipsch SB-1, Sub/ Klipsch KSW10. My listening room is about 19 feet x12 feet. Boy oh boy, AVR technology sure has changed in the past 10 years. The setup required me to use my tv to access menu. This may be normal to you but not me. With the auto setup and enclosed mic, will I still need my Radio Shack sound meter? So far, I only have my speakers in and my iPod playing. Gotta hook up the rest now. You know the drill. Neaten the wires, clean all the dust & make eveything shiney and new. This thing sound reeeeeally nice. I hear the difference. As a matter of fact while I was playing Nora Jones, my wife walked past, stopped, stepped back and said "wow, that sounds nice". This is the person I have to convince before all my big technology purchases and then says to me, what's the difference now you have this instead of that. Me happy.

After more reading and listening to hardware, I came across, AND PURCHASED, a non-Denon unit. I got the Pioneer VSX-1015. There was a wierd deal going on at BestBuy (I hate this chain) and I couldn't pass it up. Reportedly 120W per plus THX for $400. I also had a $50 gift certificate from a friend that I used bringing my cost to $350. It's a monster too. Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions!

What makes the XM suck? I have the Delphi Roady in my car and I always bring it into my apartment to listen to music. I got the $25 home kit upgrade that includes an antenna, base unit and remote control. I plug it into my AVR using a Monster cable connector (the same one for I use when connecting my iPod) and it sounds fantastic. Good 3 bar reception and my antenna is a good 12 feet from the window. Now in Manhattan, there's supposed to be a ground based antenna somewhere that treats the XM signals like AM/FM ( no line of sight needed to the geosynched birds, Rock & Roll), perhaps this is why it sounds so good. I am now wondering if that would not be an issue for me. The XM ready feature is a nice perk for price. I won't now have to keep bringing in the unit from the car or buy that Polk unit. The specs on my current Denon says 65W per channel. This what I've been used to for so many and I like the sound it produces. So I guess somewhere between 85-100 would just be that much better PLUS I lose the SS processor, get upgraded Dolby and other newer technologies. Sound good?

Hi, I am finally ready to upgrade my 8+ year old Denon AVR-1400 receiver. It still looks and plays as well as it did when I first got it. In addition, I am also losing the Technics decoder. It's served me well too. The speakers I currently have are as follows; Fronts/Klipsch RF-15 Center/Klipsch SC-1 Surrounds/ Klipsch SB-1, Sub/ Klipsch KSW10. All of this reside in my NYC living room that measures approx. 19x12. I am reviewing the newer 1906 and 2106 models however I don't have a problem with getting an older, beefier model, i.e. 2001-2004 especially for the same price. My only requirement is that it is in perfect working condition. Any ideas? Thanks, Jesse

I purchased the Bell'o table before I got the television for my audio components. When I purchased the RPTV, I considered getting the table designed for the TV but I like my table instead. It's hardly noticable when you're viewing it. Well, I just added XM Radio as another music source. It really sounds great in here!

prodj101 - My neighbors just told me the other day that we're quit and they never hear us. Perhaps it has something to do with my building's pre-war construction. 3dzapper - I've moved them a foot in each direction and toed-in as suggested. Sounds great, thanks. marksdad - If I was a good boy, Santa may give me a new AVR. That'll free up space on the rack for better circulation of air. If Santa says I wasn't good, then I'll get it myself! fini - I used to have it below when I had less components. Perhaps if I get a new toy for XMas and my lovely bride let's me move the VCR to the other room, they'll be enough for a move. The paint matching was purely coincidental! Well, more upgrades since my first posting almost 2 years ago. I just replaced my KG4 loudspeakers with the RF-15 loudspeakers. I love the quality of the Reference speaker. I know that the SF-1 or SF-2 would have been a better match but I could not justify paying significantly more for them. Oh well, I guess my next mission to totally replace the Synergy components with Reference components.

Upgrade bug? I think you're right. But I am scared to where this will leave me. Originally, I was thinking of upgrading the AVR and all of the speakers. After waking from the sticker shock, I decided that I would do this slowly and hopefully wisely as well. Although I like your idea, I am much too impatient for that type of plan. It's usually all or nothing with me. I really like my other speakers. Don't get me wrong, I love my KG4's too, they're just 16 years old and look a little dated compared to my other components. Thx.

Ok, so I am shopping for new front LR loudspeakers to replace my current model KG4. I know the Synergy models would better match my existing Synergy model loudspeakers, but I really like the Reference model sound. Should I just round off my system with the SF or does it really matter? Thanks!

It's definately worth the hassle. Here in NYC, my provider Time Warner Cable, also offers up HDTV broadcasts when you subscribe to DTV. Unfortunately when the World Trade Center was hit, I lost several stations. I still have HBO, ShowTime and CBS. This weekends Tenn. v. Thanks for all of the great input. For the heck of it, I listened to the SB series speakers yesterday and I loved the sound. But I am looking for the best match so I guess I'll look out for the KG series bookshelf speakers. I see someone selling the .5 series on Ebay for 125.00. Perhaps I'll hold out for the larger models. Are they any other places to purchased used equipment? Do the Klipsch forum have a Marketplace group? Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply T-man but I have a follow-up question as well. I looked at the specs for the hardware you recommended and they are all very similar to the newer SB line. Greetings... I am trying to round out my HT setup and I can not decide on a surround sound speaker. My current setup is as follows; Front L&R - KG-4 Center - SC-1 Sub - KSW10 I know that the obvious choice would be the SS-1 speakers. I am not certain that I want that speaker simply because I also play music and I may not like the sound that a WDST speaker produces while playing music. I am considering the SB-2 or the SB-3 instead. Am I making a mistake? TIA, Jesse
