  1. i have the upper end sub cable from monster cable (sw351t??) and i want to "extend" it to 12 more feet. is there a plug for this to join 2 cables? the dealer can get me a longer cable cable but they are on backorder!! thanks ears and the gang for the comments. it was tough to decide. so many options... $500 more for ref3's, $1500 more for pioneer elite 53", man oh man! the bottom of my pockets came up real quick. i can see after listening to music only (acutally not much dif to my ear rf3 vs. rf5) that the synergy was not as crisp or "full" as the refs but for HT they are just fine plus my room is small about 16 x 14 with a corner placement to make things worse. but like i said i still got cornwalls to listen to in the living room... to those that asked pics to come!!!
  2. like i said i finally did it. i am a little nervous however re: all the comments going around the forum between rf3 and sf2 faceoffs so to speak. i could not afford the ulitmate (pioneer elite pd510 and klipsch rf3 package xtra $1900.00) at least to my taste anyway. what i will get tommorrow is the following: MITS. WS55819, YAMAHA RXV 2200, SONY NPS 700D progressive scan, KILPSCH SF-2 (front), SC-1 (center), SS1 (surround) and KWS12 (sub) was told KWS15 was discontiued from this years stock???? maybe that explains the low ball internet pricing (up to 40% off) on this sub vs list price. the cables are upper end monster through out sub-digital audio-compentent video and speaker cable. i do agree the synergy (sf) line was not as bright but to my ear there was not alot of difference while auditioning dvd material however the musical quality with a standard cd was noticalbe but not drastic or at least to the music i listen to. anyway i have 10 yr old yamaha receiver, denon cd and cornwalls to listen to music on. wish me luck!! btw my spelling and grammer really sucks...
  3. to the "ears" and the group. sub = kws12 or kws 15. tv = mits ws55819 (ran out of money for the pioneer elite pd510) distance from tv = INCHES. spkrs. = due to space i have to use the synergy line, the rf3's would not fit. the spkrs where boston acoustics 9500 b micros (very impressive) but i went with sf2's/sc1/ss1/kws12-15. it all should be here tommorrow!!!
  4. i was told by a retailer that i could place the sub behind the tv (either a mits ws55819 or pioneer elite pd510) and that would be fine. #1 is there any rfi, emi or other interference to contend with... sub to tv, tv to sub?? #2 the vibrations from the sub is intense at high volume. will that damage the tv internal components, screen mounts, guns, lenses etc.?
  5. well it seems these peolpe might in most cases be buying from an authorized dealer and reselling. that tells me the dealer has a lot of wiggle room in the price or they are buying in bulk for increased margin and wholesaling surplus at cost in order to increase margin on "normal" sales. i have seen discounts as large as 25-30% so would asking for 15% off a cash purchase be out of line with a dealer? i also see alot of klf c7 center speakers "new". i thought this series was discontinued a few yrs ago? i posted a topic on the home theatre forum and most suggested i use this center with my cornwalls however klipsch suggest the rc7. thanks everyone and i'm looking forward to more replies and the day that i can help out someone!
  6. what gives? the pricing on some internet sites such as: www.acousticsounddesign.com and www.sounddistributors.com blow away retail dealer price. yes i understand "grey market" goods, knock offs, reproductions, no warranty but these sites claim factory sealed new in a box with north american warranty. one listing on ebay or whereever i've looked at so many even showed product stacked up in boxes... i wish i could blow that image up and get the addresses on the shipping labels!! remarks or comments...?
  7. i want to use my existing cornwalls that are 14 yrs old as the front main channel so what center would i use? (i have the reccomendation from the dealer and klipsh just wanted some end user opinion) also i would love to use the top end rws sub but the budget and room size (16x14 or 14x12, small for sure) dictate the kws5. will this work out? i am a bit nervouse based on a posting of one person not liking their selection of the reference series products using yamaha electronics since i was going to use either the rxv 1200 (80w) or rxv 2200 (100w). btw the rear surrounds (please dont laugh) will be my trusty radio shack optimus 990's that are 10 yrs old.
  8. 18 x 16 but it is a "corner placement" orientation.
  9. i am looking to buy a system soon. my personal taste have always favored the klipsch product line. i am looking at the quintett, system 6 or customizing a speaker group like a kw 10 sub/sc-1 center/4x sb-2 or the kw 10 sub/sc.5 center/4x sb-1. what is the best fix here? the eletronics will either be the yamaha rxv800/1000/1200 (my fav) with a sony nd700p dvd or the new denon and a mitsubishi 46/55 platinum or platinum plus hdtv monitor. comments and suggestions please... thanks.
  10. i have a pair of cornwalls about 15 yrs old. the bass quality on one speaker appears weak. can i measure accross the leads of the bass driver with an ohm meter and check for 8 ohms or does it need to be under load (music playing)? is there any thing else that would cause this problem in the speaker such as crossover?
