  1. I agree with this statement totally although my rf7's are running on 200 watt adcom 565 monoblocks. Im running my chorus ii's with my crown xls2500 at near full gain at 440 watts at 8ohms. 100-150watts is more than plenty to push reference speakers. When you push a klipsch 15 it can use a bit more power to move it. Dont get me wrong the efficiency in large klipsch heritage models run rather well such as my belles on a 12x2 vacuum tube amp

By the way, could you tell me with what kind of amp you would power an Heritage line speakers such as Cornwalls ?

Ever thought they have high sensitivity and output, Something 150-200 watts should be good due to the larger woofer. I don't own any Heritage speakers so, wait too see if some of the Heritage ower will chime in on the thread.

  2. I'v had a couple heathkit tube amps as well as others and a scott sounds like the ticket. "Big" scott amp means i have no choice i have to visit. I would like to wait a few months then try to buy your amp lol maybe you will be ready to try somthing new christmas time or for the new year. I love big cities at christmas time and havnt seen new york in years in the winter. man, i have had some focal speakers at 1 time. they must not be the real focal. maybe focul lol idk. I have ran through infinitys, jbls, boston acoustics, dcm, advents and too many other flagship speakers im sure you and everybody knows the drill...till i met a true 3rd generation audiophile who told me straight up get all klipsch and i wasnt new to klisch although not to anything other than kg.5's basically and they were what i always resorted back to. now i understand...i have to say with the klipsch design there has to be an amazing aftermarket monitor built off this forum that grows on the ear...The cornscala 3 way. A Scott amp is what i need. the guy that pushed me into klipsch had 2 crown tube monoblocks rated 175watts each. iv been trying to figure out what they were. I might have to dig out my old phone to ask him personally. he was running stock chorus 2's

Mark , I agree it's best to wait till I get my "Big" Scott amp. I can't help you with the Audio stores cause there really aren't any near me, but I know theres a couple of good ones in NYC. I'm also pretty sure they DON'T carry Klipsch products ( I have no idea why?) But they do have high end stuff. Me, I'm more into getting value for my money which is why if I would ever trade my Cornscala's for someone's $60,000 Focal Utopia speakers, I would sell the Focals and buy a few Klipschorns and another Cornscala pair to make up for the one I traded.

  4. Im in ft wayne indiana. were moving close to indy around noblesville in anderson. You are also more than welcome here. I will pay your your hotel...were 5 minutes from the airport here and must say I really own and use everything listed in my system profile. I have lazers and mixers as well as recording equipment as well i must ad which is some of the $10k i have spent on audio in the past years time...i know from guitar center alone im at about $4000 in 10 months....Anyhow I got to thinking and i just sent my daughter to ny with some freinds of ours who are originally from nyc. anyhow they went to the phantom of the opera showing and my fiance now who is 25 has never been to nyc area nor a broadway performance...what im getting at here is i may take you up on a visit in the next few months for a hear of your cornscalas. I would definately prefer waiting til you get your amp back from nos. I really have been picturing a getaway rolling through your area and once again ironic you allow me to hear heaven. My fiance and i in the past 2 months have been to wv, tenn, chicago and mich multiple times buying audio equipment. I would love to find something in your area i could pic up off clist or you could show me a great audio store. The local stores here are lame. Classic stereo and well ya walk in there he'll hook up some up to date paradigms with a new crazy priced bassdriver and it honestly sounds absolutely horrible. i might be over inviting ourselves for a listen and hope not...i really appreciate the guidence from a forum member who has been down the path im on now..

  5. I believe every word you said so im onboard here. You answered my next thought about the 3 way cornscala. I also appreciate the invite to hear heaven. I have heard a lot of speakers from the $50k on an over 100lb conrad johnson amp and im totally engulfed in my own radios compared, by a long shot. I have used custom cabs and built custom speakers with my preference of crossover although i know with freinds i have i can obtain very good drivers and build under retail about a $4 or 5k cornscala for way less. I have spent at least $10k out of my pocket in the last year alone on audio so im not afraid to spend more because im going to. I have spent at least $500 with bob crites alone in the last 2 months. I may get in touch with him and build a pair. As i move at the moment...and arrive at my new home by the beginning of the year i am going to put together a 2 ch system and its gotta be different than anything i have ever seen or heard of. I have the conclusion im gathering ideas for the next several months to get to what i want. The cornscala is definately the right direction. And it sure will be tube driven and all derived from this website. Im 36 so it also has to last another 36 yrs i figure. Im aiming to begin in approximately january. Maybe a good idea would be for me to begin a thread here or just go through what i read. I just want to get it right once not after a few tries. Thank you for filling my mind. You have ironically because of my interest in klipsch and the website helped me with the 2 most important aspects of my custom 2ch tube radio build.

  6. This thread should be stickied for lascalas

HF has good dollys that last forever. If you have $50(ignore the $69 price they are $50 in the store)you can grab 1 of these http://www.guitarcenter.com/Rock-N-Roller-RMH1-Mini-Hand-Truck-H77695-i2120344.gc Rock-N-Roller-RMH1-Mini-Hand-Truck-H7769 I have several i use for multiple uses including luggage at hotel valet parking. I carry my own stuff i dont trust anybody with my stuff but the cheap 1 is $50 at guitar center and hauls 350lbs has more positions than any other and helps move equipment ever so easily. The 1 at guitar center big or small wheels is identical as the ones on ebay for $100 and on up beyond $600. Iv hauled my 300lb monitors on the small one and its fun.

You just have to wrestle them into some different positions and listen.

Pick up a couple cheap furniture dollys from Harbor Freight. It really makes the job much easier.

  7. Loalol...i love it! Will obtain for my vocabulary, thank you Dr. Morbius. Did you buy or build your cornscalas? Either way are there anybody building these from Bob Crites diagram and selling? I guess i could talk to Bob yet wanted to ask you. I am going to take your advice soon and jump on board with NOS for sure. I love the i believe, VRD mono blocks. Little pricey but so tasty. I am very hoping he has can get me somthing together a little more reasonably although that is 1 now im trying to pick up info on cornscalas if you could help me here. I wanted to put all chorus 2's in a full system although im looking now into the cornscala center&surrounds all tube maybe 2 cw's in there. Thank you for your help and direction

  8. Other than the odd woodworking on the front, they're beautiful.

My jury is still out on this. If they were an onlay of grapes or pineapple or...Ick!

A music note, a horn, maybe even a roaring lion's head. Some sort of inlay or onlay of contrasting flavor, such as maple on walnut or walnut on oak, and if done right, could look good.

If I had a church, these would be fitting for the settingBig Smile

you nailed it..... man, hopefully that is velcro

  9. That is interesting. With the tangent 5000 it is the same woofer as the heresy 3 both with k28 woofers and 4ohms. I do not know their crossover point off hand although due to the passive driver in the tangent 5000 facing foward it makes them very easy to place as mains and or surrounds floor standing or using stands or not in some setups. I have to make a point here and i do have schematics and manuals in my collection in my library...as rare as tangents are if you can get your hands on tangent 400,500,4000or5000 jump on them. They are normally cheap in price when sold although the black cab covering wears off easily they can be redone and these speakers as well as the rest of the tangent line are amazing in stock form, with mods they are amazing with endless possabilities. The 4&5000 are the same with their crossovers built onto the speaker lead plate and with mods these cabs are a great place to start.

at this point in time no matter what tangents we own it would be suggested you replace the stock caps. once this is done not only do they sound better than with old caps, depending on the caps you chose they sound better than when bought new and im sure thats what the original poster is getting at here. i wish i could find more tangents around. if i could i would likely have a complete tangent system running, maybe 2. with time and patience i hope to do so. i have yet to see or hear of one complete with all tangents other than 2ch systems. tangents love vacuum tubes in my experience(at high tube amp wattage as well) even more so than the reference and heritage line in some cases in my opinion as well as others i have discussed this with. i know im not being much help rambling on here but i have left my tangent questions up to bob crites due to his vast knowledge of tangents and honest pricing . . .

  10. I have noticed him on here. I hope to see him with more product for sale. Im looking to pulling some solid state amps off the shelf and use tube. Seeing him on the forum as i asked the question nosvalves was on my mind. I will get in touch with him in december and i'll be ready to spend. thank you. hopefully there are more suggestions around here. vacuum tubes are simply amazing is all i can say

  11. yes please

Why not post them here for everyone to enjoy? :)

I have to jump in here and mention bob crites. He is very knowledgable on all klipsch lines and helped me with mods to my tangent 5000's and im still not done. He is also very reasonable on pricing. Im tough to deal with and hate spending too much and only 3/4 months ago i started buying from him and to date have spent about $500 with him, elsewhere would had been $1k+ easily, true statement. Due to his honesty i have to thank him every time i deal with him or his family. My point being made here is Bob Crites is the most knowledgable guy i know on the tangent line let alone klipsch pro and heritage line.

Dealing with klipsch original parts is easy as well. They always direct me to what works best in 1 call, not several and being put on hold or callbacks in my experience with them...klipsch the company have helped me seems ever so effortlessly. klipsch service is very good...

  12. Seeing this thread i want to jump onboard to get some vacuum tube pointers as well. There are some good websites with tube info as well as good tech service. A lot of you guys have tons of tube experience so who would you suggest sending vacuum tube units to that are honest, good and reasonable pricing on repairs and or upgrades. Then where are the best notes on tube amps? From caps to biasing where is the best info. Boxx suggested wearing gloves and these are the pointers i appreciate. Thank you for help and direction. I hope your cool with me jumping in here mustang cause this has been weighing on me for a while now having several tube units in use and really only being a few years into tube use. Thank you for direction...unless im asking too much here

  13. They sure did say NIB i seen it as well. Im not sure what kind of kg4 i could spend $600 on unless they were nib. The guys changing his ad so next should be the price. Kg4's are everywhere for sale it seems and they are a good speaker especially compared other brands of same size. People selling kg4's gotta be upgrading or thinning the collection. On this note...theres gotta be some nib kg4's somewhere and that would be a sweet find

I didn't see NIB anywhere in the ad. He's probably been using them and kept the boxes for moving or re-sale. I have all mine for the same reasons.

The ad has been edited. It originally said they were NIB and had never been taken out.

  14. i see that. there was series 1 and series 2 epic cf's. so they must be the cf2's. the pics in comparison surely measures them to be the cf2 then series 1 with single port. either way looks like a nice truckload of equipment! some people just put it all out there for sorta pennies on the dollar. i'v made several hauls like that and even more cheap and more stuff and sold stuff super cheap and checking/testing out everything out in the meantime. for cf2's the rest of that haul makes it pretty sweet. looks like a klipsch kv1 or kv2 center as well
