  1. Mike,

That's a shame...You would have thought ONE of them would have been willing to give it a shot (No Pun Intended). I guess anymore, business' are afraid to try anything that is out of the ordinary. If you try to paint them without some type of booth setup, dust is going to be the killer. I have a small one here in my shop, that I can wet down and ventilate and it does a very good job. There are just some finishes that I like to leave to the Professionals. Maybe a Furniture Shop, as they usually spray their finished products. Good Luck.......wish I had more suggestions for you....

  2. The Adapter comes pre-threaded on the wide flange end, which causes you to have to install the bolts from behind the flange on the K 402 and there is VERY little room there. Also, you would have thought that they would have threaded it Standard 1/4-20, but Nooooooooooooooo, it is 1/4-24. the two bolts I have in there are way too long. The Beyma's are threaded 1/4-24 and the TAD's are threaded 5/16-24. You would think that maybe they would standardize them....? I am going out to see if I can find some 1/2" x 1/4-24 Bolts. If not, I will drill out the flange and use standard 1/4-20 hex heads. Again, you NEVER have what you need.....when you need it.....!

  3. Bob,

I am sure where you are in Arkansas, there would be quite a few places that can handle Hazardous Waste. A quick Google with your City ans Waste Disposal should produce enough to keep you busy for a while. With such a small amount of stuff, it would probably be very cheap to dispose of them properly. There is a Company called Bio-Nomic Services just down the street from me and that is where I take my old capicitors, flourescent tubes, etc.

  4. NO Adapters or DX 38 today.......Ahhhhh...Maybe tomorrow....We shall see.......

I am sure after everything is said and done, I WILL probably try the TADS on several different Horns...as there is certainly NOTHING to loose, in doing so...Is there? I DO know that the Beyma's will be a hard act to follow....[:P]

  5. What about bleach?

    JJK

If you are speaking of Palmetto Bugs...they will drink Bleach.....Think of Keith Richars, when talking about these things, as they are about the same size...Some say he (Keith) will still be around after the Roaches are all gone...something about Resilience......

  6. Jeff,

I have a couple of Firebirds that I have been working on restoring for years...One is finally ready and the other is getting the new engine in a couple of weeks. To make a long story short, I ordered some "New" Fenders from Year One, that shipped probably six or seven years ago. I had NEVER even seen a Palmetto Bug until I opened the box, with "Said" Fenders in it. They scurried out like normal Roaches do, but these suckers were huge.....! Well, ALL this time later, with many Bombs, baits, traps, Professional Treatment, etc., I still to this day, will occasionally see one, when I turn the lights on in the shop. The Exterminator says they are virtually impossible to eliminate, once you get them. I guess you guys in Florida just invite them in for dinner and accept them as part of the family..........I have just learned to accept them, as a way of life, anymore.

  7. Mike and Mike,

You guys are fine witjh the tangents for now as I am waiting on some stuff to get here anyway and what you are discussing is very interesting. I will Corral you guys back in when we get ready to start the test. Just remember, the basis for this thread IS the K 402 Horn, which is 2". To me discussing 1" drivers is very irelevent to the topic....But you guys have fun....Isn't that what it is all about?

  8. I think it's the Fairfield Four

    Claude,

Dead on....... Fairfield Four singing Roll JOrdan Roll .....I kniow this is going to sound silly, but on the CD, it sounds like Roll JErden Roll, and the thought of the City of Jordan never even crossed my mind. Hence all of the searches I did turned up nothing.....Thanks again. Though the sound is crappy, there is a bunch of good stuff on them, on YouTube....They do a five part A Capella and the bass singer is pretty impressive...

  9. Mark,

You are close enough....WHY don't you slide on up for a visit....? It would be a riot and you can make sure that I do not make any mistakes in setting up the DX 38.....Athens, is just down the road from Charlotte....I can definately furnish the beer, just ask Claude about the dedicated beer cooler....

  10. Fella's,

Let's not get ahaed of ourselves just yet and NO Mark, you have not "Tainted" anything at all. I'm sure that Roy's settings are superb on the DX 38 and I can just hardly wait to hear the K 402's with the TAD's. BTW: I am NOT going to be the only one that hears and judges the sound.

Let's not rush it and make pre-mature predictions, as neither of you know me or what my taste are in music. Believe me, we will put the Horns through the ringers and see what shakes out.

Claude: Do you know WHO is the Quartet singing on the CD that you left with me?

I'm patiently awaiting Adapters and delivery of the DX 38

  11. Claude,

It is actually going to be three different drivers on the K 402. We had not planned on putting the TAD's on the Martinelli's at all, as I can not see an advantage of doing that. The actual test is supposed to be: To test the K 402 against the Martinelli with the Beyma CP 750ND Driver, on a Jubilee Base Bin and to see if the K 402 sounded better to ME. We have NO plans of doing charts or graphs on anything. I am willing to compronise and use the DX 38, as an electronic crossover for the K 402's so that I can match what everyone else has and are using on the Jubilee Base Bin. Here is the test vehicle for the K 402's, it is a KPT-KHJ-LF Jubilee Cinema Base Bin with the K 402 on top.

  12. Tony,

Are you sanding them back to the natural veneer? If you can try a sample on the bottom, Watco Natural might be the ticket. Or one of their darker colors, might work. I have been using the Watco for years on different applications and i have found that it works great and provides a superior finish, but it does take a considerable amount of very fine sanding, between coats, to achieve that.
