  1. Thanks moray, always good info for sure. Also the email was very informative. ducati, what makes the cf3 and 4 with the shorter ports worse? Ive heard this somewhere but never really understood why. I have purchased the KLFs and will pick them up tomorrow! They were local and was a person Ive dealt with before., But I am considering the CF3s as like a four channel setup. [] But still would like others to chime in the differences and advantages from one to ther other before I consider pulling the trigger on the CF3's. Thanks again
  2. I have the opportunity to pick from these two speakers to purchase at fairly the same same price. They seem to have similar specs and build but I would like some others opinions who have experienced both or either. I love bass first off, that is pretty important to me. Which throws better bass out. I also obviously like a good solid upper end with smooth crisp sound. I would probably start by getting some titanium tweeters from Bob Crites for either one, and would dampen the horns as Ive heard they are thin. I have experience with the Forte I, and Crites Cornscalas. I really liked them both and thought they were pretty close in sound. Any help would be appreciated with others experience with either the Klf-20s or C-3s, Thanks.
  3. I am interested in picking up another set of Klipschs speakers as I recently sold a very nice set of Fortes a few months back due to financial constraints. If you know of anyone in the Upstate NY area or are willing to part with a set yourself, my budget is around 3-400 dollars right now. Do not have to be perfect but would like all drivers working, grills there and black in color. Please PM me what you have or if you know of anything, thanks so much!
  4. Willing to ship if buyers agrees to pay to have UPS package or if we can come to an agreement on shipping terms. Just would rather have them proffesionally packaged so they make a safe trip to your door. Also am willing to accept best offers. So PM me thanks
  5. Lol my bad, definetly do not have two crossovers in them I will get that fixed! Tried uploading pics the way youthman suggested and kept getting errors so I created a local craigslist posting to show. As you can see from the pictures the paint job looks great and the wood grain still shines through. All drivers, cabinets and grilles are in excellent shape. Thanks for the help on the posting, PM if interested! http://elmira.craigslist.org/ele/3800616082.html You have to highlight link, right click and hit open link. Not sure how to make it auto open, thanks.
  6. Not really sure how to post pics on here is someone could help I would be glad to post. thanks again
  7. Bought these speakers a few months back after selling my Cornscalas. They are absolutely amazing sounding speakers with the ALK Crossover networks and Crites titanium tweeter upgrades. The insides have been braced and dampened to eliminate some resonance which is typical of Fortes and it really makes these speakers rock very clearly now in the mid and lower end. They were originally oiled oak colored but I have painted them with a nice black lacquer finish which looks very nice. They are in great shape, sound great and no issues to speak of. Asking price is $750, the ALK networks were almost half of that themselves and really make these speakers shine. Someone will be getting a great set of speakers. I am in upstate NY and these are for local pickup only. Please PM if interested, thanks.
  8. I do hear what your saying, and I knew that people would tell me not to do it. But I am looking for others who have done something like this, maybe a chemical stripper first to remove the oil finish, then a light sand?? My furniture is mostly espresso lacquer type finish. Thanks for any future suggestions.
  9. I actually am purchasing the ones listed above tomorrow with ALK crossovers, damping,Crites titanium tweeter. Very excited about this purcahase. I have asked a question about staining the veneer on the two channel audio forum if anyone has any advice or time to read over it. Thanks to all those that helped!
  10. Hello, just ran across a new purchase that I am making on some Klipsch Forte II speakers with very nice upgrades and modifications. I am very excited and thanks to Vindeville who I sold my Cornscalas to he set me up with these and am very excited. They have some internal bracing, damping done, ALK crossover networks, and titanium tweeters. Picking these up tomorrow and I know these will be perfect for what I am looking for. Anyways... The oiled oak look, which in my opinion is nice, does not match anything I have in my whole house. I was wondering if it is possible to sand these down with some gritty sandpaper, then smooth out with like a 200 grit. Then apply stain and a polyurethane. I was told this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone has tried staining veneer and what it takes to get through the oil layer to get to the veneer, if there is a product or if I should just sand? I knowsome people will say this kills resale value or whatever but I do not plan on parting with these for years to come, so just making them work for me. Any help or instruction would be greatly appreciate, thanks
  11. Toolz, pm returned.. Moray I actually had the tangent 400's before I purchased the Cornscalas so I am familiar with the line. Was a nice sounding speaker, basically same as the Heresy II with some decent bass(39Hz or so) but the cabs were very thin and weak that was the drawback. I almost built another set of cabs out of MDF or birch for them but ended parting them out on ebay for the Corns. Tom thanks for the heads up.. I am in upstate NY not all that far from Conn. Maybe I will keep an eye out Craigslist. I hope this pair comes through for me but still have not heard back that is why I am putting out feelers. What speakers do you recommend in that price range Tom? Or anyone else for that matter? Like I said I am looking forward to some Fortes expecially the ones that are possibly in line, but am open to suggestions, looove bass and the clarity of Horns!! thanks guys.
  12. Thanks moray, really set on the fortes for now. Waiting on another member whos friend has the forte II's with ALK crossovers and the titanium tweets. But still would like to hear if anyone is willing to part with these as I am kind of getting the itch being without any speakers for the past few days after selling my cornscalas. Please let me know...
  13. Just want to say it was an absolute pleasure meeting vindeville while selling my cornscalas. What a great person! I am sorry to see this speakers go, but with that being said they went to someone who will enjoy them for years to come! As you can see from his review on them in my cornscala C sale post, theres no question they were an absolutely great speaker. I know that while it was just a sale of a pair of these speakers, Ive made a good friend, and someone I could turn to for knowledge and advice in the Klipsch field for years to come. Thats priceless. Also want to say a big thanks to Bob Crites, was a pleasure to work with and he does an excellent job in his craftsmanship and infinite knowledge in this field. Now as far as my posting and the little stir it caused lol. I do apologize and going through and reading the post I understand what people are saying, Yes it came across a little harsh, and maybe could have been done another way, Ill chalk it up as a learning lesson and a way to post in the future. I am new to the forum and definetly new to selling on this forum, so I was a little green when posting. To the ones who supported me, thank you and its something that will keep me coming back to this forum for advice for years to come. I was turned on to this forum when I decided to purchase my Cornscalas because of all the posts and help that people have given over the years from just googling klipsch speakers, it kept pulling up the klipsch forum. Thats when I decided to join. Needless to say I have nothing bad to say and no hard feelings, actually very happy that I posted these. I learned, met a good person, and now after selling these to him he is possibly helping me get another pair in my budget to replace the bare spot against my wall!!! I cant stand it. But love klipsch, and cant really see myself ever owning another brand. Thanks again, look forward to being around for awhile.Have a good day[Y]
