  1. You know...they should just say that! Makes more sense! "With our new Sound Sprayer Technology, this things thows sound hither and tither!" Could be a new slogan!
  2. So that is a fancy way of saying "you can stick this thing anywhere and it should sound good"?
  3. Bookshelfs were custom made to fit on either side of the fireplace (sorry...should have put all this in my original post) and the TV is mounted over the fireplace. Do you all think the RS42's would be ok in the upper rear corners, maybe pulled out a foot- 1.5'?
  4. So I have been trying to read up on what this is all about. I cant find one clear answer (at least none that I can understand). What is it and what does it do? Also...I was told by some guys at my local Klipsch Dealer (very knowledgable guys BTW) who stated that RS42's would be ok in my upper rear corners (pulled forward a little bit towards the front of the room), even though one "corner" is open in the rear to the kitchen. What do you all think I should use in the rears? The couch MUST stay where it is. Wall behind the couch for the bottom left corner is 6' long, then opens to the kitchen for the other 9'. Also, would Reference II speakers work ok with a Yamaha 765 receiver, or would it be too bright? Here is a picture of the layout:
  5. So the guys at the speaker store stated that with the Wide Dispersion Technology I should have any issue installign RS42's in the upper rear corners (pulled forward a little) on the side walls. Anyone whole-heartedly disagree with that? Would I gain anything turning them 90* so they fire up to the ceiling and down to the floor?
  6. So here is the picture of my room layout regarding the placement of rears I should use in my setup (if someone can chime in on their opinion I would appreciate it). I went and listened to the RB51's for the mains again and in some types of music I liked them more than other speakers, in some I liked them less (or the same). For HT use they rocked. My room is heavily damped regarding echos with the floors being carpet and a huge sectional. The guys at the store suggested RS42's in the upper rear corners, pulled forward a little. Anyways, does anyone see any issues with using the Reference II's with a Yamaha RX-V765 receiver, or would it be "too bright"?
  7. Lucky you with the wire! I use Monoprice 14gauge. Some of the best I have found, and it is CL2 rated for inwall use. I have enough slack where I can move the speaker around probably 2 feet front to back to get a descent sound.
  8. The speakers wires are already run....and I wish it was as easy to do as running them in the attic. Trying to get it through the ceiling joists between floors was a b**ch!
  9. Yes...she saw it....and said the speakers were too small (j/k).
  10. That is what I was thinking...hanging them from the ceiling angled down.
  11. Problem is the couch can't be moved. Also, the speaker in the right rear will be firing into the kitchen since there is no wall, only the sound hitting the soffit will be bounced back, but won't be hitting a rear wall per se.
  12. Got ya. I have enough space for them. Hey scrappydue....what size living so you have where you have 41/42's in it. Do you think it is a good setup? Where are your surrounds located, and is there room behind your listening position for the surrounds to be effective? I have a thread with a picture in it, and if haven't already done so I would like your input for the surrounds(getting confused as to who had responded and who hasn't!). Thanks.
  13. I think the dispersion should be ok....or I can try to rotate it inside the box. it will not fit under the mantel, and I dont have room for another one.
  14. This is just our den, not a theater room, so aesthetics are coming into play. I have been looking at the icons, but they are becoming hard to find. I wish they also had a smaller satellite for the rear corners. I do not want a huge box sitting up there on the mantel. If I was going to do a fake wall I would just mount an inwall speaker like I did at my townhouse and be done with it. I can get such a good deal on the 51's, that is why I was trying to think outside the box. Mustang guy....if I had a man cave like yours I could get anything I wanted, in fact she ok'd a theater in the basement, but is part of our major remodel plans so it is a few years off. Until that time, and since she makes formal-living-area-decisions, it is what it is. If you are married, I am sure you know what I am talking about. Dtel....it has to fit between the TV and the fireplace mantel, so if I go any bigger I can't fit a bigger TV on the wall, which I am sure is coming down the pipe soon.
