  1. Placement is for fine tuning and although could make a huge difference.... Fire those bad boys up! In the corners if you can come off the wall for those rear radiators is my thought.
  2. I got the rest of the syrups in yesterday. Now have Coke Classic, Dr Pepper, Barq's Root Beer, and Mountain Dew. I am about to have neck surgery so construction on any new projects is at a complete halt. My precious wife hooked up the syrup boxes last night for me. My neck is so jacked up I can't lift a 5 gallon box. Root Beer in a frozen mug....heck yeah! Ok...I am ready. Football may now begin.
  3. I appreciate the prayers. I am looking forward to the project and hope to be back in the shop soon.
  4. I would love to meet you. PM me when you think you could make it to North Alabama and we can arrange it. I am about an hour from Chattanooga TN.
  5. The component finally arrived and I built the temp control for the freezer. I cut a blank 1 gang plate to fit the opening of the control module. The module is actually designed to control the temp of an aquarium, but is a perfect fit and only cost $14 shipped. I keep the freezer between 32 and 35 degrees. The oversized cold plate does a great job chilling the soda prior to dispensing. Temp of the Mountain Dew in my glass. Nice cold 35 Degrees.
  6. The good news is if I sold a soda with popcorn for 50 cents I would be making money. If I didn't have to buy the solo cups I would make money selling it for a quarter. The cups cost more than the product.
  7. Thanks, that reminds me. The component to build the digital temp control has still not come in. I am controlling the temp by using a timer on the outlet the freezer is plugged into. It comes on for 30 minutes and off for 1.5hr once it has already run for a few hours to get the initial cold temp it needs. Without doing this the lines will freeze even with the freezer on its lowest(or highest temp) setting. Once the digital control is there I can maintain a constant 33-35deg temp and that will improve the quality by itself. As it is, it works pretty well, but you can tell if you catch it right before the freezer kicks back on. It is not quite cold enough. Dispensing soda water above 38deg is a waste. It will gas off and leave the soda flat. Run the freezer any more often and the lines start to freeze.
  8. I wouldn't call this area finished by a long shot. I call it functional. At this point the goal was to get it all working. One day I will finish it out nice and cover the electrical panels and build cabinets. Until then I will just keep enjoying popcorn and soda. I will do some more work on the drain, but for the time being the tray from the Coke machine is working well as a drip tray for both the sweet tea and soda. Two flavors connected now. I will get some more soon. I know a couple that run a restaurant that ordered me the Mt Dew and Dr Pepper. I am still working on a way to get Coke products in the 2.5gal boxes instead of the big 5 gal. I will add Coke and Barq's root beer. 4 flavors is plenty for now with a couple extra buttons for expansion if I ever want it.
  9. Made some great progress this weekend. The Soda Fountain is working. I have Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper ready and on tap. I pained the white freezer and mounted the dispenser through the lid. I will get finished pics tonight. I dyed the freezer seal so it would not stick out so much. turned out closer to blue than black, but it is dark now and doesn't show. I mounted the carbonator on an 8" trailer tire so there will be no vibrations.
  10. I am building the frame from 4.5" extruded aluminum with 1x4" wood frame overlay wrapped in black velvet masking. Corners of the frame will be riveted. I expect the frame to be pretty rigid, but if flexing is an issue I will weld ridged corners and bolt inside the aluminum frame.
  11. Design thoughts when I put this together: 1. Minimum height of the bottom of the screen so it is not blocked by front row. - Approximately 24" 2. The primary horn is ~1.5 ft above the ear when seated in the front row. Ear level in the 2nd row. 3. Audio is anchored to the center of the screen in this arrangement.
  12. Yeah, My youngest daughter had friends over....which she always does. With football season about to start we will see plenty of use from my friends. The popcorn machine has been great for groups of kids. You can feed them all they can eat for less than 50 cents. The fountain will be a nice addition.
  13. SODA FOUNTAIN TIME! I decided to finally pull the trigger on adding a soda fountain to the HT. I got this guy on craigslist with the carbonator, regulator, syrup pumps, and bib connectors. I had some help to tear it down since I am not actually using the heads in this, but need the massive cold plate out of it. I picked up a used 5 cu ft deep freezer that will handle refrigeration. I will be removing the existing thermostat to allow for me to turn this into a very efficient refrigerator. I will wire this guy into the compressor to allow me to keep the temp as cold as possible without actually freezing the lines. This is the massive cold plate. 6 syrup lines + soda + water. Weighs over 80lb. This will be the actual dispenser head. Wunder bar mini tower. I ordered new buttons for Mt Dew, Dr Pepper, and Root beer. It will mount onto a riser box directly into the top of the freezer lid. I think I will use the old coke machine drip tray in the design with the tea urn on one side and fountain on the other. drip tray will catch for both and connect to a drain. You have to be very careful drilling holes in a freezer. First attempt would have hit a coil if I had not been looking for them.
  14. Thanks. I have updated the drawings to show it in the closed position and added the lights.
  15. Youth lived 6 miles away at one time. the 600 miles that it is now makes it a little harder to get together.
  16. It is a good idea. It is just very expensive for the materials. I am actually helping Youth build his room. He is not on his own.
  17. A metal frame has been considered, but not at that price. It will likely bee a wood frame using screen tight. Metal will be used for stiffing where needed. Is that too high for you? I am looking at 1x3, but you would be able to go with 1x1 if you use some "L" brackets to attach it to the wood wall. It just doesn't make sence to use aluminum for $250 when I can weld a solid steel one for $100. Regardless of how cheap Youth is. Unessesary expense that provides no real benefit.

  19. I guess it goes back to I didn't know what I was missing. We should finish your front wall and let you hear my IB next time you get up here. By then you won't have so much on your plate and can focus on what you want in a sub. Don't worry guys....once he hears my IB he will join us on the dark side....(insert evil laugh)
  20. Unfortunately, in my house there is such a thing as having too much bass.....at least for my wife. She already thinks the RSW-15 is too much bass. Youth if you ask me keep what you have. Your very happy with it and it more than you need. What am I missing? I think Youth is in a dilemma.... He wants the Sub 20Hz LFE that the RSW-15 can't deliver, but he likes his wife and wants to keep her also. The RSW-15 is more than sufficient when the kids are in bed and Wife is home. Maybe he should consider having two subs. The RSW-15 or less expensive sub to use when cranking isn't an option. When those glorious moments arise to let the speakers breath he can turn off the baby sub and fire up the big boys.
  21. Shawn has you covered no worries. False walls or drop ceilings can shake or flail with an IB. You're basically going to be sitting in a subwoofer box. Any walls or doors that aren't secure will be moving. This would go for any high output sub, IB or otherwise. A pair of 18's will shake things when cranked. That is how it is supposed to be. You just shouldn't hear the shake....just the sound. We will go through that low frequency test CD and find any rattles and fix them.
  22. Absolutely. The false wall would need to be secure as well. I will be building the false wall as cabinets, not a traditional façade. All connections will be secured or dampened.
  23. I know 70 Hz isn't a problem for mine. This is with no room treatment and my RF-7ii's turned off. There are some room nulls causing some of these dips. Other locations in the room showed increases in areas this spot had dips so I am sure properly places acoustic treatment could help flatten things out. Crossover was set at 80. I would have to do another sweep with the crossover higher to know for sure.
  24. Youthman is lucky to have a friend like you. About the last part of what you said, I would have to say YES.........but it's not my wife or house so I feel just as blessed. Friendship is a two way street.
