  1. The pics Tom Posted are my 60 cornwall and it is dated 1960 on the back. I am planning on bidding at the last momment on this to pair with my 60.

The only bummer is it was refinshed.

    Is someone here also bidding?

I hope not to get in a bidding war with a fellow member.

I have been looking fore a mate for 3 years to my 60.

I am still waiting for more pics and some qustion i sent to the seller.

  2. I have to say I have a Bloze portable big wave radio thing.Bought it used on ebay for a paint radio for 150.

Went to the bloze store to see about a case and was shoked by the price case was 125.

This radio can only be bought new by a door to door salesman??

They did have reconditioned ones for 1100 whats this radio cost new?

It sound ok well better than most portable radio it comes across.it does get real loud and the cd player was cool but that died from the paint dust a few years ago.

I just use a sony pro walkman for recoderd tunes.

most pepole that see and hear it thinks its the best.

Someday im going to strap a Scott 299 to a Model H for portable tunes.

All in all the wave is'nt that bad hell it still works after living in the car or job site and has sevived a few falls down stars ect.

I still want to Know what it cost new even watched the info tv ad for 45 minets and they still did not say the price!!

  3. Many pro studios like to warm up there digital mix by tracking out of the Box (computer) in to anolog preamps (ssl neve and many high end vintage boards)then mix to 2 track tape both 1/4" and 1/2". for that big fat warm sound.

I have a few cd that do sound better after a tape transfer, even when done on cassetts well nakamichi casset that is.

  4. I thought it all sounded great back then 60 and seventys.

But I was listing to a Scott 299b through late 50,s KLH and later conwalls.

This was the sytem I grew up with that my dad bought new in 59.

I rember him talking about getting these giant jbl that were somthing like 10 feet wide (a complet stereo one piece cabnet)he was going to power them with some tube mac amps. He had just built his dream home a verg large countempary house and was planning on this sytem even had the wall wired for them. But Nixon got elected and poor Mass was put on his lets not send any money list. My Da being A Arcutect lots a ton of navy jobs he was designing and never did get that sytem.

I know have that old Scott the Cornwalls Went to my Brother and the Klh were Stolen.

But pink Flyod and the Beatles sound great on this sytem.

  5. single khorns seem to sell in fact of the 5 I have all were bought one by one make for a fun hunt find a match.

I found a perfect matsh for my 51 (only 3 weeks apart.

My 58 only 8 mounths apart.

The solo 59 khorn came in a klipsch three way sytem with a model h, and short horn orig used all together.

I see khorn all the time on ebay fect good Monel solo.

Back in the day it was very common to oder one khorn at a time many had to save just for one.

It was said one khorn is better than two of any other 2 speakers.

I found my first khorn 8 years ago for 150 in a antique

store 2 years later I found the perfect match on the then new Ebay.had to pay 1100 for the match.

  6. lesc ,

When i find some time i make a copy of the broucher and post it.

Your lascala top look like the early version around 1980 give ot take a few years.

Theyb orig had the k43 made by Gause(not shure on my spelling) at the time this drive was the pro standard being able to take more power than any other speaker of its day even jbl altec and ev.

BTW I am looking for some orig k43 drivers from around 78.

I just compared my pro crossover and it is just a modifed stock one.

  7. I was watching the Pro lascala top you won on eaby.

was hopeing no one would bid as they were a bit on the high side price wise. I won a pair of top just like thes last yerar on ebay for 250. I found a pair of botom right here from a fellow Klipsch Forum user. All i did was post want pro lascala botoms.I think the botom are a lot harder to find than the tops. you could buy as bet up stock cabnet and modifi it.

I think i have some orig klipsch lit on the orig pro line from the late 70's early 80's that have the specs.

If you look closer at the db rating of the pro line you will see they use a diffrent distance to messure Dbs If you convert it is the same as stock.

These top work well with other bass bins from peavey Altec ect.

Looking at my crossover i think the only diffrece form stock was the added Fuse and Bi amp hookup.

Ok I just read a orig La Scala Pro Broucher.

The y show crossover as the same as stock but with the added fuse.s ect.

they also show how to hook up a stock La Scala for bi ampping.

    Freq response 55Hz-17 Khz -+ 5 db

SPL= 1 watt 101dbs max 127 dbs at one metter not 3 feet like stock

    max power 200 watts

There is alot more info with sound patterns and charts ect.

Finsh are stock painted black or with all trim or fibergls coat with trim in both one part or to part.

    hop this helps.

I have a first year pair lascal (early 60's) if you want info on them they have Horizontal bass bin with open horns on top

  8. I have a nice bencmark DAC 1 DA converter.

My old nakamichi oms 7's are

becoming fussy some cd's wont play ect.

Should i rebuild the old nacs or look for a good Cd transport to use with the DAC1?

the old naks shure sound good and have last many nmany years the build quilty was preety high.

  9. The VOT look preety nice to me. I would rebuild maybe put in some mondern drivers from jbl or peavey thay can take more watt that you ever use.

The old altec cabs were built like tanks and to find a new cab half as good woulf be tuff.

But if you really want lascalas you could sell the Altes probly for more than a mint pait of Industrial Lascalas sell for.

  10. rloggie

Is there a id paper label on the bass horn?

The label on the mid horn is the serial # for the mid horn only not the whole speaker, many times the mid horn was made a few years before than the whole speaker.

your trusonic driver looks like the late 50's type.

Check for no's stamped in the bass horn cabnets rear wood panels.

I preety good at dasting years form just the no's.

This is a cool speaker your gana love it.

  11. I think the date is right as my 51 khorns are around #250

and my 58/59 horns are around #1100

so 500 should be about in the mideel of that 55.

Also all khorns made before 60 are dated on the terst Id tag.

I also noticed that they must have made most of the mid horns at one time as both my 58 and 59 (untoched ) khorns have 56 dated Mid horns.

  12. The Only Phase linear amp I would add to the list

would be the orig Phase linear 700 which in it day was about the only high whatt amp for sale.

Just about Evrey rock/blues band from the early 70,s through mid Eights used them hot rod for live Pa use.

powering big old horn loaded Pa cabs back when live bands had that larger than life sound. not the over compressed Power hungry pa's you hear to day.

so that sad the Flame linear 700 is ther most famous amp.

I still have a pair of first run 700,s lurking around .

My list for best amps would have ....

    Threshold

Mcintosh tube and some soild state

    marantz early tube amps

Scott tube amps 220a and later 299 ect.

    WE(western electric) old thearter amps

    Rca old theater amps

Altec late 40,s tube amps the one,s whith we parts

Brook hey paul himself used one the voice the khorns with
