  1. Hey... if I want to wall mount my speakers, do I need the RB-1 attachment, or will others work? Also, what happens if the cable is too short? are there ways around this problem? IE ordering longer ones, some funky extension cablin', etc.
  2. So, on the lowest setting though, is the same volume coming out of all the speakers, and it just gets higher from there? It SOUNDS that on the lowest setting that the rears are a bit quieter by default... *shrugs*.... just wondering
  3. Simple question.... on the 4.1, when I'm listening to music, it comes out all four speakers since I have it setup as 4.1 in control panel. Duh. So... does the surround knob on the speakers on THE LOWEST SETTING mean that the same volume is coming out on all the speakers, and that just turning it up affects the loudness of the rears? I'm trying to figure out a good spot to leave my surround knob at and just curious as to how these are engineered.

  5. Hey, don't worry man, I'm living in London, Ontario and have the 4.1... even reviewed them Envy News - Klipsch 4.1 Review and have had them for over 3 months or more and they are great!
  6. Dumb question How do you wallmount the Promedia 4.1 rear satellites? If you can. Thanks. I know it has something to do with unscrewing the base of them but I thought I'd just ask. Hah.
  7. quote: Originally posted by justin_tx_16: just go away bigloosa. turn down the EQ and everything will be fine. heheheeh... Okay... I'll test that out. It's veryyyy hard to hear, just on maybe .. jeez.. 20 tracks out of my MP3 collection of 4700 hehe
  8. quote: Originally posted by JohnAcres: I got my 4.1's today... at CompUSA... So far so good except I think the back speakers aren't working casue I don't have the 4.1 sound card. I have the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz... the card is about a year old. So far I love the way they sound. LOL... pleeeeeease don't tell me you're going to use them with a 2.1 only sound card... pleaaaaase????? I believe the Santa Cruz is 4.1? If not.. well that was a waste of money for two speakers you can't use
  9. Now, I have to say, that I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 ..... However... there is something odd I just kinda notice about them. On certain sound frequencies, the tweeter seeems to make this buzzy kinda noise. It's hard to define... like some guitar parts in songs make them.... some piano notes make them... it's just a slight... "buzzy" noise. Anyone else have this "problem" or is the problem my sound source, etc? This occurs with a CD copy or MP3 copy of say a certain song. For example, "Sullen Girl" by Fiona Apple. Any ideas?
  10. JEeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz all this from a posting of a new review A lot of anger here raawwwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  11. quote: Originally posted by justin_tx_16: i have had my v2.400's for nearly a year, my 2.1's for about 6 months, my 4.1's for two months... never had a problem from any of them. "4.1's for two months.... 5.1 once I can find them"... heh
  12. quote: Originally posted by BigBusa: I'm curious as to where you got your 4.1 set? Were they pretested by the supplier before you got them? People buy these speakers because of reviews like yours. That review was done after a very, very short ownership period. It sounds to me like you took them out of the box, hooked them up, then listened for 20 minutes and started praising them. That's pretty unfair to the readers of your review because these speakers are fast gaining a reputation of failing after a couple months. I'd love to see you do a follow up review after you've owned and listened to them for 2 or 3 months. That is, if your original set lasts that long! a) I got them from a computer store in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They have never had anyone return them. I've owned them for .... *thinks*.... 2 months. So I did not just plug them in and listen to them in 20 minutes. c) I think the reason why they are gaining a reputation of failing is just the horror stories people read in this forum. Did I go to this forum before buying these speakers? Yes. Was I afraid of staticy noises, my subwoofer catching on fire, etc etc etc? Damn right! Have I had those problems? No. I don't think I should be holding my breathe for something that is most likely not going to happen. This message has been edited by OmegaX3000 on 12-13-2001 at 04:37 PM
  13. quote: Originally posted by Vatican3: typical review. This matthew arnold guy was just blinded by the light and didn't tackle the serious reliability issues that have plagued the promedia line. Sigh, another numbnut is going to read this and buy one NOT knowing about the dreaded subwoofer issue. IGNORANCE, that i once fell victim to. Never again. To the regulars in this forum, don't we know the story all too well? I think if you actually looked at it from a reasonable perspective than a biased angry one, you would realise that 1) this is a forum for people to discuss problems they have had 2) the amount of people in this forum with even just that overheating subwoofer problem is so small compared to the amount of happy customers who have purchased the Pro 4.1. It's kind of hard to tackle the "serious reliability issues" when a) mine work just fine and have for over a month and a half I go off of forum rants and and screams over how many problems they are having. There are many variables and reasons as to the problems people have had in here, and giving a product a low rating just because there are people that have actually asked for technical support isn't reason to say it sucks. If my speakers do overheat however I will most definately update my review.
  14. Thanks Justin! Unfortunately I couldn't add that protector switch thingy in before it got posted, but oh well. And yah, UBB must have a grudge against me... jeez.... UBB Code
  15. Hey everyone! I'm impressed by the conversation that has been going on in this forum, as I've followed it in the near background from the start to finish of my project. What project? A review of the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers at Envy News! . Check it out right here! Here is a quote from my review: quote: With all the hype and praise surrounding the Klipsch ProMedia name, I knew that one day I had to hear for myself how legendary they were, and if at all possible, own them. Unfortunately, where I am located, it never was the easiest thing to find a store that sold Klipsch speakers. Well, it has been nearly two years since Klipsch first announced their celebrated ProMedia series of speakers, and I now have the pleasure of not only owning the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 Speaker System, but providing a thorough review of them to you. Are the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers the greatest 5-piece speakers on God's Green Earth? Read on and find out. Oh yah, and I also hate UBB code This message has been edited by OmegaX3000 on 12-12-2001 at 11:56 PM

If I see another signature that has someone's system stats I think I'm going to puke. I will most likely be dead before our society moves beyond the stupidness of comparing material goods to improve self-esteem.
  17. Here's an odd question, but I'm sure you may all like it -- Klipsch ProMedia grill covers - on or off? Do you like to leave them off because of "better sound" or to show off the satellites? Or do you like to leave them on to protect them? Give your answer and a reason why! This should be interesting

I know they won't "beat a HT system".... all this topic was really for was just to know what is a safe area to use these speakers under so I can enjoy them for many days to come
  19. quote: Originally posted by justin_tx_16: ok. my sat's are set to 12 o'clock, the computer's wave volume is 100%, the main is about 75%, the sub is set to the THX mark, the surround is at 10 o'clock. it is very loud. my door rattles and you can hear it from outside the house. i about to have my room sound proofed... not the one i sleep in, the one where my pros are and my computers. this is my normal listening volume, when i want it really loud, were it starts to hurt, i set the computer to 100% and the pro's to about 2:30. Jeeeeeeeeeez! that's loud! LOL...... I guess I shouldn't be afraid to turn mine up a BIT more The sub is at the THX MARK?????? LOL.... I still have mine at the 10 o'clock standard mark..... I find it's too overwashing higher than that.... well at least for now Wow..... hmm.... and they still work??????????? LOL
  20. quote: Originally posted by justin_tx_16: i play them loud. i figure that by th etime i am getting old and my ears start to fail, they will have a cure to hearing loss. don't tell me otherwise... LiMM! i have had stuff fall off my desk, the sub rattled my cd rack so much that the pegs came ou tand my cd's fell all over the place,,, on the v2.400's, a guy once shattered or cracked a coffee mug with the sound. just some of the stories, like hte cat who was thrown from teh sub port... LiMM! Uhhhhhhhh..... how loud is "loud" on your system? Just wondering what your setup is like (ie knobs on Promedia, Windows settings)
  21. Okay, this may sound like a wierd question, but for everyone out there that has owned or owns Klipsh ProMedia 4.1's, what have you found to be optimal sound settings, and dangerous ones? Right now my Main is set at 12 o'clock, my sub at the default 10, my surround is at minimum, and in Windows Mixer, I have WAVE/MP3 at 100% and MAIN usually at 50% Anyone have any scary stories about pushing the sat's or sub too far and it causing damage, and know what it was set at? Because I just want to make sure I don't want to go in that "danger zone" Sounds like a cheesy tv show I just want to know about any warning signs I should watch out for, etc.....
