  1. here are a few more pics including the k500 horn build. this was probably the hardest part of the whole build process. I used a roll on bed liner for the black paint on the back.
  2. I think it sounds great, I kinda like it cause the TV is up kinda high too so it puts the sounds close to where the TV has the image.
  3. heres a pic of dads setup with his belles and forte's.
  4. well, I got the belles down to dads and I'm very impressed with how they sound. I think the belles are one of the most awesome looking speaker out there. it was a pretty fun build project too. dad is powering them with an onkyo 504. I think they were around 1500 for the pair to build. I got all the components from crites and installed an AA crossover in them but I would like to hear them with the ab-2 installed. all I need to do now is build two more for my rear channels and moce the forte II's to the shop.
  5. your welcome. I'm glad they worked out for you.
  6. I can prob help you out, I have built three belle's. you can see the website in my sig.
  7. I have a chance to get this kenwood km-x1 for a pretty good price. has anyone had experience with this amp?
  8. thanks for the advice. I decided not to get the crown amps for now and wait awhile longer to update my system. I may sell the denon down the road and get an emotiva set up. who know, I might even try the pioneer route. I am pretty happy with how my systems sounds, I just want to hear the Khorns at their full potential.
  9. thanks for the replies, more bottom end and separation is just what Im looking for. Im gonna see if he will let me try them out in my room before making the deal. I think my room acoustics are playing a big part of what im missing from my speakers.
  10. Hello, I am trying to decide if adding two external amps to my avr is worth while. I currently have a Denon 4308ci which is a highly rated avr at 140 watts 8 ohms @ .05 THD, but I came across a good deal on two crown cts4200's giving me 8 channels of external amplification at about 190 watts 8 ohms @ .05 THD. I have khorns as mains, belle center, forte II surrounds and a single heresy rear all in a 20x20 room that extends back into the kitchen/hallway so its not exactly a square room. would it be beneficial to add these to my system or am I just wasting money. I'm actually just trading a gibson les paul for the amps so no money out of my pocket. would like to hear some opinions.
  11. I have a Klipsch KV4 I'm looking to part with. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/ele/4181246081.html
  12. nice! Im guessing that is a diy center? what size woofers and what drivers are you using?
  13. I would, only those will be leaving soon.
  14. LOL, two of the belles are going away. it sure does look pretty all together though.
  15. I think you would be happy with the heresys as surrounds. you have to securly get them up high enough though. that is why I went with the fortes. heresys are a little heavy to be that high off the ground. I'm only using one as a back channel and its way up high and upside down to put the horns closer to the ear. it is plenty loud and not to far off sonically. Ideally would be a la scala or belle given the space and budget, I even heard of kliphorns with false corners in the rear as well with a pair up front too.
  16. thank you sir!!! one of these days I wish to retire and spend the rest of my days in the shop... But thats a ways off im afraid....
  17. I did have to build some stands for the forte's to get them off the ground and just above ear level.
  18. I had to battle this same issue when I purchased my klipschorns. I was origially using a klipsch kv4 but it couldn't keep up. I really like the looks of the belle but they are a little hard to find. So I build my own using bob crites components. I actually built three because dad wanted a pair of them too. here is the set up with the horns and belles and they match the horns very well. I'm using forte II's for surrounds and a heresy in the rear as a 6.1 set up.
  19. I actually found two sets of plans and used both. here is a link to one of them. http://hornloudspeakermagazine.blogspot.com/2008/11/comprehensive-list-of-klipsch-plans.html I also put together a cut sheet listing all the cuts you ned to make.
  20. thanks all, It made a huge diff for a center channel, I was using a kv4 previously. Im not sure why klipsch discontinued them, they are a beautiful speaker.
