Must watch the BD. Look on DataBase forum, there is tons and tons of low bass in Ragnarok.Ragnarok: I watched this one off recommendations form an AVS thread. The bass in the movie was OK and not insane as reported. I did watch it from Netflix in DD+ which on my system is not as good as BD. Only watch this if you don't mind reading, lol.

Watched Ragnarok and Godzilla last night. Ragnarok has insane bass, if you haven't seen it you should. Decent story, liked that there wasn't any cussing or on screen violence. Also, well acted. I ordered Kon Tiki because I liked this so much, and I've read loads of positive reviews.

Nice comparison. Did you buy the P312W new? Just wondering, because you can get A LOT more sub for your money with ID. For $4000 a Sub M or Captivator would be superior, even a PSA T-18, or a Reaction Audio PS - 218x.

Hi everyone, I have an assortment of klipsch from a pair of heresy 2's,2 pair of kg 2's,an academy center and a pair of kg 3's running it with a onkyo tx-nr709.I need opinions on what should be my set up starting with the fronts, and surrounds.thank you.
Front : KG3's
Center : Academy
Surrounds: KG2's
If the Onkyo has the ability to do side surrounds I'd use the other pair of KG2's for that.
What do you have for sub?

Hey Youth, whats the story with the shop? Are they going to refund your money?

From what I have read, the MK2 has about roughly double the output of the MK1. I would wait for the PSA or the MK2.
Agree. It's worth the wait.

I got to meet a few members and a few of the actors at the DVD release they had at Fort Hood, was able to get my book signed. I bought the DVD for my dad and had that signed for him also.

Band of Brothers is my favorite mini series HBO has ever done. It honors the book, and the memories of the soldiers of Easy Company.

It's awful, nothing really feels right. Nothing tops the first Transformers, the second one was close. How is the latest transformers movie. We just rented it to watch saturday.
I don't know about all that. The last one was when they finally got the subwoofer material right. Plus the story line wasn't quite as stupid and it was pretty projector friendly. I didn't like the character development as much but the effects were cooler. Biggest thing that sucked about the last one is that all the cool autobots except Optimus and Bumblebee were killed off, so you were left with some weird Egyptian robot and that annoying old radio thing with crazy hair, everything else was forgettable. Personally I really liked Lockdown in every way, he was badass.
I agree Lockdown was badass. I didn't connect for me. I guess I wanted something similar to the first one, that I loved. All the digital transformations were wierd and the story was wierd. Also, I wanted more Dinobots!! I love the friggin dinobots and I wanted to see them kick more ***. I also don't like how they introduced them, would rather have seen them created. But, allas I'm not a Hollywood film director, just a movie lover. I do own Extinction, but I honestly bought it for the awesome Steelbook.

Towers. Unless you're planning on some really beefy and wide bottom stands.
Like these http://www.gwizpro.com/stands/
I have a center channel stand they made, and it's very nice.
-
I would cuss them out.
Charlie,
You know Youthman don't cuss.
Bill
Well maybe i should call and do it for him. People just don't care or even check their work these days it seems.
LOL!! I was thinking the same thing last night.
I hope the shop handles this in the same professional manner you did upon hearing they fixed your amp without your authorization. I admire the way you handled that; knowing full well how I would have is totally opposite. Should be a fun phone conversation tomorrow
Hoping for a positive outcome.

The difference in th finishes from the palladium and th entertainment center actually looks good
I was going to say the same thing. Makes both standout (in a good way); the contrast in finishes looks great.
That's a sexy center, still looking forward to your listening impressions. ETA to the towers?
-
Never mind
-
What were your results after disconnecting everything except the center? Did it still play out of the right channel? How's everything sound with just the Onkyo?
-
Really sorry Youth! I hope you can get it all worked out.

Watched The Mockingjay last night. Thought it was the best of the 3 so far (and I've read the books, and felt just the opposite - prefered The Hunger Games to Catching Fire and Mockingjay). Had some really nice LFE moments, but overall, I thought it had the series best acting.

You didn't cause a mess man. [emoji6]Sorry to cause a mess guys I am glad other subs were mentioned and only because I said I would be okay spending 2 or 3 hundred more than originally budgeted
-
Sorry I missed his last thread; however, that is all but irrelevant now. I didn't push him to $800. I don't care what he ends up buying, just trying to give more choices than SVS and Klipsch.
if you had participated in his other thread you would see that his original budget was 700. all of which you suggested are over. LOL i mean don't get me wrong its all good to get as any suggestions as possible and as you can tell we are all already talking him into spending more. so lets stay after it and get him to build 4 18's cause we all know that is where the real fun begins.
?????Huh????? I'm not sure I agree. Considering 3 of the 5 are at or under his budget. I only added the one PSA because he mentioned going up to a more expensive SVS, it's not like I randomly threw it out there trying to get him to spend more. The other is a whole $100 more, and again, said he was thinking about spending more.while all the above is true no one can compete with svs bill of rights. and for someone who unsure of what they want the trade in program is a sweet deal. plus his budget was about 800 so that why a lot of the others you mentioned weren't thrown out there. but that new vtf-15h looks like a winner at 889. although i read some stuff about their numbers being fudged a bit.
No doubt SVS has a great program, wasn't arguing otherwise. Just tossing out a few other options.

PSA XV15 review on Data-Bass this was before they switched to the newer driver.

I'm late to this thread, but I'm curious as to why the only 2 subs talked about here are Klipsch and SVS? There are several other ID companies that make fantastic subs.
1. PSA (started by Tom Vondanel co-founder of SVS) XV15SE $899 - 30 day trial period with free shipping and returns. Ignore the silly comparison charts, these really are great subs.
2. PSA V1500 $1049 - this is using the new ICEpower amplifiers. It's a more powerful version of the XV15, but I put it in here because you said you might up your budget to the pb12. Well, this gets you a powerful sub with a 15" driver.
3. Reaction Audio PS-15X $799 w/ free shipping. I think it's only fair to mention they will have new subs out soon. Also, they've been switching up their lineup pretty regularly. Nothing bad about that, it would frustrate me so I thought I'd mention it.
4. HSU Research VTF3 mk5 $799 without shipping. Shipping will run $89. This is suppose to be a killer sub. Performs better than HSU's legendary original VTF15H. Or, grab the VTF15H on closeout for an amazing price of $709 in black. That's an amazing deal. Hell, for that price grab 2
Honestly I think you would be doing yourself a disservice to only consider SVS and Klipsch. I think the 4 subs above are all better options than the pb2000 seeing as they all have a 15" driver, will go as low or lower and have more spl for your money. But, that's just my opinion. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose.

Congrats and glad the center channel is helping. It's a very important speaker in any theater setup. Also, I would say that you should be on the lookout for a used sub. Being that you're in Cali, you should have a pretty large selecation of used subs (it's a large assumption). I think you will find yourself equally surprised by the addition of a sub as you were with the center, possibly more so.
Good luck on your journey.
-
Thanks Jason, but thinking on it more I'd rather build the 30" THT. I just really want to build another sub; plus, I love the satisfaction of seeing the end product, knowing I built it.
Your TT is a great deal though, someone will enjoy it.

Nevermind...just checked bfm site and see it's a smaller driver.
The last Blu-ray you watched.
