  1. Just checking to see if you got my message.....
  2. No not yet but probably sometime over the weekend.
  3. Yes I do but recently I found myself drawn to B & W 803's
  4. Guys, I need your help in setting the price on a unique pair of Heresy II's before I list them on Ebay. Yes, it's a pair of Heresy II's but they have an interesting pedigry. These speakers were hand selected by Paul Klipsch for friends of his that lived on his street in Hot Springs, AK. In fact the boxes still have the label with Paul's address on them from when they were delivered to his home prior to being given as a gift. Unlike most pairs of Klipsch speakers where the serial numbers are consecutive, the numbers here are off set by one. I was told by the original owner that Paul felt the grain of this Oiled Oak pair was a near perfect match. The serial numbers are 400001 and 400003. The next thing that made them unique was the fact that Mr. Klipsch had a special bracket installed on the backs of these speakers so that they could be hung on a wall. Not high on my list but it"s there. Unlike most Heresy's the speakers are also shielded allowing close positioning to a monitor or television. So how did I get them? A little more than 3 years ago Paul's friend was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and needed to sell the speakers in order to pay for medical expenses. In the original Ebay auction the speakers sold for $1150. They have been meticulously maintaned by both owners. I would hear from Paul's friends for a number of months after the sale but nothing lately. Based on the connection to the owner of company and the unusual modificatios, what do you think I should list them for? I welcome any constructve coments and suggestions. Pictures will be emailed including Paul's address on the box upon request.
  5. within 2 feet, any suggestions.
  6. I'd to place them within 2 feet of the mointor. Any sugestions?
  7. Can anyone out there tell me if the Heresy I's or II's are shielded so that they can be placed beside a monitor?
  8. Jhawk: I've contacted the owner in NJ. Says the speakers are in perfect condition but he can't remember if they're black or oak. They supposedly have been boxed in his basement for 3 years. If it happens I'll be driving to southern NJ. With answers like that, it requires a personal inspection. I'll keep you posted... Steve H.
  9. Thanks for the post, He's going to call me in the morning.
  10. Mike, I thank you for the generous offer but the wife is looking for a match with the audio furniture we plan to buy. She likes the Salamander set-up in cherry and she feels that the darker oak would not be a good match. I don't care. I just want great sound but I can't sleep with my eyes open. I'm sure you know what I mean. When I do finally find them I'll be driving them with the Adcom GFA-555 @ 200 a channel along with the companion Adcom pre-amp. Thanks again as the quest continues. As a side comment we agreed that your house is decorated beautifully and we hope that we can make our system meld into our furnishings as well as you have. Sincerely, Steve H.
  11. I have been looking for without success a mint pair of Chorus II's in light oak as can be read on my post in 2 channel audio. The next question is do I break down and go for a pair of Heresy II's instead. The Chorus II's are of course a great rock speaker, but my taste in music are ecclectic and I also listen to a fair amount of Jazz and Classical recordings. To complicate this even further, I do plan to add a KSW-15 sub to which ever system I eventually choose. Which speaker system would be best overall concidering the other music formats. All comments are welcome. Sincerely, Steve H. This message has been edited by Valjean256 on 12-01-2001 at 01:59 PM
  12. Success has not been high in my quest to obtain a mint pair of Klipsch Chorus II's in clear oak. I was hoping to have them and a KSW-15 sub under the tree for myself ( yes, I know it sounds selfish ) this Christmas but hope is fading fast. If anyone knows of a pair of this magnificent speaker system needing a loving home please post a notification here. I will be watching daily. A pair of mint Chorus II's recently were sold of Ebay for $750. I concider that very reasonable and for any women out there reading this, trust me, my wife will make out like a bandit this year also as she always does. I live in the Boston area and will drive anywhere in New England or Eastern New York to give them the safest transport. Otherwise we can look into various shipping options. I thank you for listening. My future happiness is in your hands. Sincerely, Steve H. This message has been edited by Valjean256 on 12-01-2001 at 04:05 PM
  13. From my days working at Tweeter Etc. the Forte was always a great demo speaker but when paired against the Chorus there was no doubt that the Chorus hands down had the richer more complete sound. It seems that the extra cabinet space for the chorus allows the sound to be less constricted and therefore sound fuller and more natural. As for the base response, when you get down to a frequency response of 35 to 39 on the octave scale, the distance between the 2 points encompasses only about 1 note. However depending on the music or the piece being played there would be anywhere from a slight to a moderate perception difference in your bottom end. If you have any notion of purchasing a sub in the future to get you down into that house shaking 20 to 24 Hz frequency response then there is no question that you need the Chorus II's Good luck and if you find an extra great pair of Chorus II's in light oak I'm definitely in the market.
  14. Congratulations on your new acquisition. After lots of intense pressure my wife has bowed to pressure and will allow a set of Chorus II's in our living room but only in light oak. You know life is all about timing. When I was much younger I would sell these speakers for a retailer in he Boston area. They were easily the best demo in the store with Kef 104.2's a distant second. In those days there was no way that I could afford a set of speakers like this. Now I have the means and it would be easier to shake the hand of the President than to find a pair. Enjoy the new children. If you do put them into storage I recommend the attic of course because in most houses it's drier. We don't want them to take on any unique scents.
