  1. I was watching ghost world yesterday (great movie) and a couple of audiophiles were arguing over CD vs. vinyl. They mentioned a 'Klipsch 2B3' equalizer. I didn't think that Klipsch made/owned any equalizers and i'm assuming that they just made this up. Did anyone else notice this?

  2. Exoticar,

Got my Marantz SR-5200 and Klipsch RF-3II's on wednesday. I love the speakers and the amp is great. Watch for a new thread from me on more detailed impressions of the receiver and speakers in this forum.

  3. vatican,

Thanks for the heads up. I've read about this on htf and it worried me, but on the bright side, i'm getting it from a local authorized dealer so I can always take it back for something else. I hope it doesn't have any problems though.

  4. I'm going to be using a Marantz SR-5200. You might consider it as well. I was also looking at the Onkyo 595 and Denon 2802, but the dealer swayed me towards the Marantz as a better value, which seems true at least on paper. I still think the Onkyo 595 is a very good receiver though. I'm going to Texas A&M; I'm actually still living in the dorm for another semester so the RF-3 II's may be a bit of overkill for a while cwm1.gif. Do you have an apartment?

sounddog, thanks for the info, this'll help me out as well.

  5. The klh amp might be the R 3000 at best buy. It's a stereo receiver that I've seen for $100. I'm not sure because KLH's web site isn't very helpful. I just went with the plate amp since I don't see myself getting 2 SVS's anytime soon, but if I ever do have the money/need for a second SVS, I'm sure I can upgrade to the samson at the same time. By the way, the plate amp does have some exposed electronics so you'd probably want to build a small box for it. I'm going to build it into the back of an entertainment center that I'm building.

  6. vatican:

No, actually i'm going to school in Texas. Right now i'm running on TV speakers cwm36.gif. By the end of the week, i should have my Marantz sr-5200 & Klipsch RF-3II's in. Later I plan to add the rest of the Reference 3 line & the SVS 20-39CS when i get $$$$cwm30.gif.

  7. I've got a step up transformer as well, but those things get hot. Don't know if I'd be willing to rely on one for my reciever, but then again I suppose it depends on the quality of the transformer.

exoticar: I can't believe that they regulate that now. Admittedly, I haven't been since 1997 (was there during the changeover). I'd like to go back; good place to visit--software or no software cwm1.gif .

  8. Exoticar & Vatican3:

I'm in a similar situation, finals are over on the 12th & i'm getting HT soon. Actually i've already got RF-3's and a Marantz SR-5200 on the way. Exoticar: I'll let you know how I like the Marantz when I get it. The dealers really like the current Marantz line. They are a great value on paper at least compared to Onkyo & Denon, but I'll see how it performs.

Vatican3: I've been to Hong Kong quite a few times, and although it's a great place to get software *grin* , I it's possible to find quality audio hardware cheaper than you can here. I could be wrong tho.

  9. badbob,

if you go back to the site, click 'home audio in the left column & then go to 'plate sub amplifiers' under the Home Theatre section. That'll give you a choice of four plate subs amps. Btw, I meant to say plate sub amp in my last post; these are just amplifiers that fit in a plate, so they can be attached to a subwoofer
