  1. i wouldnt get them. i look for stuff that i would use on a daily basis. the bottle opener is my favorite! i agree with the prices on these shirts and all, i own quite a few of them, but i do think they are priced high considering branded apperal is geared toward promotion. i like the idea of the branded acoustic panels.

  2. Congrats on the sale.

As mentioned, a few months ago, I picked up a pair of LaScalas with the intent to demo them in my home, enjoy them for awhile and eventually pass them along to someone else. It didn't take me very long to realize they offered MUCH more detail and clarity than my RF-83's. Within a few weeks, I purchased a third LaScala from Wstrickland and after hearing the LaScala Trio, I was completely hooked and within 2 weeks, the RF-83 / RC-64 were sold. Having three identical LaScalas as my front sound stage is incredible. Seamless panning from one speaker to another and they produce a beautiful wall of articulate sound. Also, the LaScala as a center is a HUGE upgrade from my RC-64.

The ONLY think I have not been impressed with the LaScalas was the bass extension. Some have said "give them some real power and they will thump". I think I have that covered with 200 watts going to each speaker. Power isn't the issue. Owning RF-7, RF-7ii and RF-83, they just provide that slam that the LaScalas will never be able to provide. That's because they were designed to only go down to around 70Hz. So they ABSOLUTELY need a sub if you want deep, thumping impact.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after you've had more time to listen to them.

i haven't even hooked them up yet. i was still kinda disappointed when they were demoed to me at the place of sale. i don't think my living room is large enough for them. it measures 12x20x8 as you may have seen in my pic that i uploaded to the home theater. eventually i will connect them to the ave in the garage before i decide what to do with them. i may sell, i may keep, i just don't know. also.. the garage is so full of crap right now! i need to make room!

  3. mainly from my computer. i think the xbox one will have 4k as well. its been ruled out that the ps4 will not have 4k id rather it all be simplified and have less buttons to push every time i change sources. i cant wait to hear them with about 200 to 300 watts! i bet they will sing!!

  4. after looking up my reciever i find i dont have preouts. and i dont want to spend 1000 dollars on the 3700 which has preouts. what do you all suggest for a reciever that has warm sound like the hk, and has preouts, 4k passthrough, 3d passthough, and doesnt cost an arm and a leg?

If you want the Harman, you might consider this... I've been considering getting one as well but really have no need at this point in time, but am considering getting a 4K TV in the next 6 months.

i love the samsung 4k that i have. my computer supports full 4k, and it looks amazing even if its just an image. text is super clear and it just looks amazing. folks that i have had come over, watching simple blu ray, have said it looks better than their 1080. i want to see the difference therefor i do, but they claim they see a difference. anyway, this looks like an amazing deal. i will have to buy one as soon as i transfer some money, wonder what the warranty consists of??

  5. yeah this whole 4k thing is killing me, i mean seriously, can it be that hard to let any type of resolution pass through an avr? it doesnt process it or what not just switches right? i was thinking about bringing back in my 354 as well. but then i remembered it wouldnt allow 4k and i was back to square one.

  7. Congrats on the purchase. This is going to be one MASSIVE upgrade. Keep us posted!

yeah, thanks a lot! i cant wait for them subs to ship, they are out of stock/backordered. :(

This is going to be one MASSIVE upgrade
especially if you go the mini marty ported route

yeah, that is what i plan on. the exact dimensions are listed, i have all the tools to do it, so ill try and build one myself.

  8. Just be careful is all he's saying I think. Worse to underpower than to overpower.

ahh. i guess ill stop using that song.

as an update, i have ordered 2 of those 18 with dual 4 ohm voice coils, and a inuke 3000dsp. i saw the 6000dsp for 399, but dont think i will ever go any more than 2 subs in this room.

i already sold one rw12d, and have the 15 and the other 12 still for sale locally.

  9. only reason i dont go higher is cause it starts to sound crappy. i have got to figure that one out too!

I'm wondering if you could use an amp then? i'm guessing you are talking about the 7ii's start to sound crappy? i'm betting they are starving for more power

im thinking it is my computer. i recently formatted the drive and reinstalled windows. it started to sound worse then. used hdmi sound, but optical sounds better, music with tons of bass (ie bass i love you) when super low frequencys hit then the tweets really start distorting. thought it was internal crossovers, but blu ray movies sound good. then again, i dont have that song on blu ray. it is a flac file that is 51mb large. i cant put my finger on what the problem is, wish there was some way at looking at the output sound waves to see if it is clipping or the hk is clipping. its really got me at my whits end.

Bass I Love You can seriously damage your speakers if you are listening at reference levels, especially if they are not receiving a proper amount of clean power. Based off your signature, they are not..

But it still sounds amazing through a blu ray on ps3. Only the computer am I having any sort of issues.

  10. its not stated that the amp blew. i think hes claiming its still good.

The posting is gone but he was using a 12v car amp, not the factory amp with an inverter.

yeah. he claimed something about a 350 watt amp, and a 400 watt Jensen or something like that. dual maybe? heck I don't remember.

  11. see it now coytee starring in the new adult version of the young and the sleepy, directed by none other than our very own Porn Star :P

I have had 3 colonoscopies and the white juice they shoot into the IV is no joke, I asked the nurse out to dinner and called the wife a stalker...............went to bob evans took 1 bite of food and hurled all over the plate..................the wife was a little embarrassed to say the least, I dont recall leaving nor the ride home

we have had a few laughs over my behavior when loopy from anesthesia.............................

haha! I do have a couch, and may even have a guest bedroom set up by then, (I just moved into my house a few months ago if you need.

    no funny business I promise!

  12. how much do those subs go for normally?
last time before they sold out there were going with free shipping but there were 239$
what finish is on that one super shiny black enclosure?
I'm guessing a hand rubbed high gloss back finish. very time consuming to do, but doable. watch some videos on it on youtube. if it interest you then go for it.

i think i will go ahead and order two of the 18s then. i prolly only need one, but i am slightly ocd and 2 will look more uniform to me. i can build/buy the enclosures later and what not. i got a few people wanting subs already, but i hate to sell them cause in my opinion they sound like poop.

  13. only reason i dont go higher is cause it starts to sound crappy. i have got to figure that one out too!

  14. Ugh I just wrote so much but my phone erased it all when I went away for the page for a minute.

So to sum it all up. Have a read here:

    http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1534711-video-subwoofer-build.html

Go with the mini Marty flat pack vertical. Get an inuke 3000dsp. Get an si 18 at the pre order price right now. And you'll be right around 7-800. The amp will have enough juice down the road when you add a second as well. Unless you a build a horn sub yourself you WILL not find a better sub for the money.

    Inuke 3000dsp-279 on amazon

    Si 18 dual 4 ohm 162+25ish shipping

Mini marry vertical flat pack 250 delivered.

Either duratex of black paint to finish.

700-800 for a killer LOW tuned ported 18" sub.

this looks very promising. how much do those subs go for normally? what finish is on that one super shiny black enclosure?

If $1000 is your maximum budget, I would pick up a PSA XV15se or a a Reaction Audio PV 15x. If you could bump the budget up to around $1,200, there are even better options out there.

I am going to agree with Scrappy though, DIY is probably your best bet with "stupid high listening levels" and a $1,000 budget.

yeah, i piss the old lady off that lives next me on a regular basis. when i listen to music, its normally sitting at around -7 or so. only reason i dont go higher is cause it starts to sound crappy. i have got to figure that one out too!
