  1. Thanks for the info. I'm going with the Outlaw cables for amplifier connections. May purchase a pair or two of the audioquest cables from the audioadvisor for a CD player I need to buy. Once I get my Pre/pro, I'm moving the Yammy and old CD player to the back porch for summer tunes at the pool.... Any good SACD / DVDA players out there? I've done a small amount of research but not near enough to this point. 2. Seb, The RF3II's will keep yoou good company. I also look to the day when RF7's are in the front and I will move the 3's to the rear. For the RB3, hav'nt listened to them although they do have a rear firing port if that makes a difference in your set up for centers. They should sound great. jim ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  3. Seb, I've got the RF3II's and the RC3II. I got to tell you the darn thing sounds great. Just got done watching Rush hour 2. Had to replay a couple of the bomb scenes. Anyway, are you buying from a dealer? If you are ceertainly they would let you upgrade to an RF7 if you'rrrr not happy. If not from a local dealer, there is always e-bay and this forum. Reference pieces won't last long at auction. 4. Looking for 1 meter interconnects for my soon to be arriving Acurus A125x5 amp. Who's got suggestions on a set of five for under $200.00??? Anyone selling good used out there??? Anyone using the Outlaw cables?? Thanks, jim
  5. Ther's an Outlaw 750 on e-bay ~ gone in 45 minutes. Didn't see anyone from this forum bidding. $$$ still short of the reserve. ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  6. Doug, Thanks for your help. Come to find out when I got home and checked my Yammy, it does have 5 line outputs for the speakers. I have to roll my 50" TV out of the home entertainment center to get a look at the back of my gear. Kind of a pain but this satisfies the wife with a nice clean appearance in the family room. Keep her happy and I can continue to upgrade my gear. Thanks, Jim
  7. Thanks Doug, Thats what I figured. Can I run my front speakers with the Acurus and the rear & center off the Yammy? Now for the pre/pro. I have the Outlaw 950 reserved, but would pass on it for something else of good quality. $1,000 is about the max. I read some reveiws on the Acurus Act III and was not impressed but someone could have had a bad day. Adcom has two available the GTP 760 @ $725 and GTP 830 @ $850, but I can't find any reviews. Need some help. I'm new into the digital stereo components,(as is proof with the old Yammy). There is alot out there. I would go with a 7.1 pre/pro so I could add a two channel amp and two more speakers later but only need 5.1. I do want something that will pass through the new audio formats, DVDA & SACD. (there are alot of new goodies on my list, can buy only one at a time) I'm guess the quality of your pre/pro is most critical at this point. Thanks, Jim ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  8. dougdrake, I believe all thats there is a stereo pre-amp output. This is an old (early 90's) dolby pro logic receiver. The Yammy has five channels of amplification but not five channel pre-amp hook ups. I'll check when I get home tonight. Thanks, Jim
  9. Need some help, purchased a used Acurus A125x5 and should receive it in a few days. My question is how too hook it up to my Yamaha 870 receiver. The Yammy is an old dolby surround. How will the amp get a singnal for all five speaker? I have to use the Yammy until I get a pre/pro. Secondly, does anyone have any experience with the Adcom GTP 760 and GTP 830 per/pro's. I have an Outlaw 950 reserved but who knows when my number will come up. Advice on a pre/pro? Thanks, Jim ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  10. Thanks Guys, I have been planning on buying an Outlaw 750, the Carver AV705 thing just popped up. Saw a couple for sale, checked out some older reviews and seemed like a good buy. I have also reserved the Outlaw 950 pre/pro. Who knows when that will show up. Any way, with Carver being out of business, I'm will more than likely become an Outlaw. Athough, Carver has some ex-tech employees who started their own repair business to support their products. (Pretty Cool). 11. Looking at these two used 5 channel amps. Can get the Carver AV 705 for less money, but have enough for the Outlaw 750. Both have good reviews. Like to hear what the forum has to say if the choice was yours. Maybe other 5 channel amps in this category. Thanks for the info.. ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  12. You are correct, the RB3 is not conducive to mounting flush on a wall with the rear firing port. I would guess, and this is a guess, that the minimum distance form the wall would be 6". RB3's should be on a stand or bookshelf. Later, ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Digital Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  13. Similar to Jack, I've used banana plugs for the high end freq. but hard wired the lower freq. under the binding post. Not sure about your reciever but I woud guess you have binding posts that accecpt both. There are some stackable banana plugs available. Someone on this forum gave out a web site but I never looked into it. Iv'e never used pin connectors, they don't seem to have enough contact area, but there are many that use them. 14. John0392, I have my RS 3II's mounted on the side walls of my listneing area. The right rear is open behind the speaker but the left rear is about 10 inches from the rear corner with out any sound problmes. This is similar to what you are running into. I think the speaker design will compensate for various room configurations. (These speaker are certainly not designed for mounting vetically.) Go for it.. 15. John0392 Got into this thread late but started from your first post. I'm always interested in how others like or dislike ther Klipsch RF speakers. Kinda freaky for a while because I've had nothing but pleasure from my RF3 II's since I received them last December. And now that your problem has been solved the sound will only get better. For starters, get yourself some good biwire speaker cable, (I built my cables) and break them in good with a test CD. I would put the CD in on repeat any time I was leaving the house. The break in helps the speakers as well as the new cables. Next play around with the toe in of your new RF's. 30 to 40 degrees has helped the very directional horns spread around my listening area. If you are using the floor spikes, you can tilt the speaker up a little by adjusting the front spikes out and rear spikes in. This has improved the depth of the soundstage. I guess by now you have realised there is plenty of base down to about 40hz. Below that you run out quickly. I work in the railraod locomotive industry and have discovered that solutions to the problem are normally a lot more simple than we realize. Always go to the most fundamental aspects of the problem first then work your way to the more complicated issues. You'll solve things a lot easier and faster. Turn up the BASSSSSSS.. wiring?

Check out www knukonceptz com for some decent 10, 12 or 14 gauge speaker cable. They handle car audio supplies but this cable is high quality with good pricing. They also run some on ebay in a Dutch auction. You may want to stay away from their twisted speaker cable unless you like to work your fingers raw trying to strip the wire. It's good cable but a pain to terminate. But they have staight cable also taht sould be good for the long runs to your rears. 12 guage for .50 ft. w/ 294 strands. Not bad, check it out. 18. "WOW HE'S HOOKED" Remamber theres now turning back. Welcome the the Klipsch Arena. Glad to "hear Klipsch" got your tone up. The fact that you spent more on your speakers and a little less for your receiver tells me your on your way to a never ending battle with new technology. The good thing is the Klipsch speakers will survive many power upgrades, technology changes, new digital formats, processors etc... Don't forget to purchase some decent quality speaker cables and interconnects. Hope this forum has helped educate you in the decision making process. I read more than I post, but there is always some good info out here, you just have to weed through some mumbojumbo from time to time. ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  19. Miron, Distortion and transiate signals are more likely to damage speakers than watts of good power. The AVR 3802 has good reviews although I've not listened to this receiver. I'm moving away from the receiver gig and into seperate amp and pre/pro but for now have a Yamaha. What I'm looking for is cleaner power, getting all the processing components away from the amplifier. I purchased the Klipsch Reference series a few months ago, RF-3II's, RC-3II, RS-3II's and a KSW12 sub for $1,600.00 delivered. As mentioned by many above, Klipsch speakers are very efficient so clean amplification is the key. This is why I've ordered an amplifier and pre/pro from Outlaw. If you are just getting into the HT business, theres no turning back, I would get as much speaker as money would alow. It's easier to upgrade your power sources and the technology changes every day. My point is, you are about to spend a minimum of $750.00 for the AVR 3802 and could look at something less expensive and move the difference to your speaker fund. Check out the Outlaw 1050 $450.00. It's a six channel reciever rated at 65 watts which is similar to my Yamaha. With the efficient Klipsch speakers there is plenty of sound. this way when you decide to upgrade your power with an amplifier and pre/pro, you won't take as big a hit on you purchase. And believe me you'll be upgrading for the rest of your life. Theres no turning back.... ------------------ A/VR- Yamaha 870 RF-3II RC-3II RS-3II KSW12 DVD Panasonic RP-56 Pioneer 5 Disc CD Echostar Sat Hitachi Ultravision 50"
  20. Come on guys, buy the RC-3II center channel speaker. Use the quint's in the rear. You'll get more sound out of that RC3-II than you ever herd out the Quint's and then you won't be pissed at youself because you can't hear the dialouge. What do you have for the front main speakers? That could make a diffenerence where to spend money. But if the mains are ok for now and you have that itch to scratch, get the center... Later,
  21. All right, I just reserved the pre/pro 950 and 770 amp. From the Mid February Outlaw news letter, I'm looking at Mid April delivery. Gives me some time to gather the cash. I guess I'll be selling stuff on eBay. Don't have much in the home audio department to sell. What gets replaced in the main system goes to the porch for summer tunes out at the pool. And we have some long hot summers in Western Kentucky. Pool side, Margaritaville, some cold hops and beach music. No April's not that far off. Later,
  22. aab3rd, When did you get on the 950 pre/pro waiting list? I can't decide if I should go with the 750 or 770 amp. Of course if I choose the 770, there's more speakers to procure~ we will never be totally satisfied~ I'll have to build an addition on the house if this continues.. Later,
  23. dndphishin,Text Thanks, thats exactly what I'm looking at for my pre/pro. The 950/750 togehter. I think Outlaw offers some discount for buying two pieces of equipment. I may even try their interconnect cables. Great price.. cables don't have to be more expensive than your system. I'll bet they are good quality also.. Later,,,
  24. I've had the RF3II speakers for a couple months now, including the RC3II and RS3II's. I'm looking to upgrade from my Yamaha receiver to a 5 channel amp and digital processor. I can't get over the great reviews I've read about the Outlaw 750, but I have yet to find anyone using the Outlaw with Reference series speakers. Let me know who out there has the Outlaw!
