  1. i noticed you said that you had your speakers volume at 9 o'clock. Why would you need to turn it that loud? Mine never go past half way and I'm deafened by them. What I did was Turn the Main Volume on the control pod to 12 o'clock, and use the volume on my keyboard to alter volume. when its cranked its waaay too loud, and its only half way...Plus having the KeySpan remote (thank you justin for posting a while ago on that - its a savior) alters the computer volume. Its just a suggestion. That might help your crackling, if not, maybe its the condition of your cds/mp3 files, but then again, its probbaly the control pod. Im yelling out random ideas, feel free to ignore me anytime
  2. stupid integrals...thought i left you when i passed calc last semester It will follow me to the grave
  3. i had a feeling it wasnt a regular hp x'over. They bypass it and play it full range on the sat's im guessing, but the sat's arent made to play too low so the xover is pretty seemless.
  4. thanks - i didnt think it would make much a difference if at all, so you guys just reinforced it. Thanks again
  5. anyone know where the sub and sat's are x'd over at? what frequencies do they play in other words? it says the system is 29Hz-20kHz but thats the whole system.
  6. woohoo, fellow punk fan - speaking of which, punk music does actually put out a respectible amount of bass. Right now I'm listening to the new Goldfinger cd that comes out soon and the bass guitar is hitting pretty loud and is constantly being worked. The sub, i believe (could be wrong), is crossed over pretty high so it blends the mids better with the sattelites. But it should get somewhat hot, but if it gets too hot to touch, it might be worth getting it looked at. dont forget that amp also powers the sattelites, its not just controlling the sub.
  7. im making new wires because the ones i have are just way to short...is there a certain proportion i need to make these wires? I know both rears should have the same wire length as with the fronts...but is there a proportion between the front and rear wires lengthwise? Im asking because the thought that sound might be delayed popped up in my head...
  8. Well, after searching for about 3 hours for my Dell TB sound card drivers and reinstallation crap (the stuff off the website would work cause its not part of Dell's deal) I finally got it to work - all 4 channels are working so we'll see how long this lasts. Thanks Amy and Justin.
  9. no, i have a TB Santa Cruz. I wont trust creative. And I am testing these out using headphones and the right channel keeps fluctuating in volume and cutting out and the overall volume keeps changing...I'm very confused...
  10. New development...I had only been playing music lately and that seems to be the problem b/c I just put in the Final Fantasy DVD and the sound works absolutely fine. All channels are putting out sound...I'm very confused...Why does this only happen with mp3s and cds?
  11. damn, it looks like it's my sound card. Cause i switched the two and my right front channel is now non-existant. when the miniplugs were swapped around on my card the rear right didnt work. This message has been edited by Talon on 03-03-2002 at 08:19 PM
  12. The left channel of my 4.1s are working absolutely fine, but the right side is at least 50% the volume, sometimes more, in both the rear and front sat's. Does this mean there's a malfunction in the sound card? Or the speakers? And no, the balance is correct.
  13. Congrats, that kid is gonna put you through hell and back, cause thats exactly what I put my parents through. The best of luck
  14. Thanks guys, all of this stuff is greatly appreciated. I think I'm gonna go with the RB-5 II's w/ a cherry finish. He has decent stands in the basement so I'll use them...About him liking those bulky speakers...for some reason, he likes those...The ones we have now are almost as wide as the 27" TV in the living room...he figures wider is better...i guess... But anyhow, I look foward to upgrading these speakers. I think if I get these speaks I can get my sister to get him a 12" sub...I'm guessing you all dont like the idea of mixing and matching brand-names. huh? Some guy at 6th Avenue Elec. was goin off on how he loved this Definitiv Speakers sub. We'll see though, we'll see...
  15. Well, I own both Klipsch ProMedia 4.1s/5.1s so I am pretty familiar with Klipsch products. However, I've never been introduced to the HT lines. I usually frequent the 4.1/5.1 sections of the forum so I've been around. Anyhow, He's more of a set it and forget it kinda person...how unfortunate for me cause I'm the one spending all my money to upgrade the many stereos around the house. Anyhow, about those used speaks doug was talking about; any idea on where to find used pairs of speakers that are in good condition? I was looking on ebay and saw a few Heresy I's. They any good? I'd be willing to get him a sub but I don't think his reciever is new enough that it comes with a sub output, so I'd prolly have to get that too...Or at least break the news to him after I got em - heh. Also, he might be interested in the (distant) future to upgrade to 5.1/6.1 sound...He has become more interested in audio since I upgraded my car, my room, my dorm, and his car stereo last Xmas. So who knows what the future holds. I'm guessin I would be better off with References? Do any of the Klipsch Floorstanding speakers come with horn tweeters, mids and side-firing subs all-in-one? Thanks guys.
