let me know which horn and I can get the spec of PE website. I have a pair of Heresy so don't need the other numbers (you are reusing the K22 and going two way right?)

    It's the Selenium HM25-25:

    https://www.parts-express.com/selenium-hm25-25-1-exponential-horn-90x60-1-3-8-18-tpi--264-312

    Specifications: • Horn type: Exponential • Minimum frequency: 1,200 Hz • Nominal dispersion: 90° H x 60° V • Throat diameter: 1.0" • Mounting type: 1-3/8"-18 TPI • Dimensions: 10.79" W x 6.46" H x 5.94" D • Cabinet cutout: 4-5/8" H x 9-1/4" W • Selenium #HM25-25.

I was planning to go with either the Eminence Delta-12LFA or the Crites CW1228.  These are empty cabs so I don't have any drivers or crossovers to work with.

It wont set you back anything. Get me the dimensions and the next chance I get, I'll route em out for ya.(may be  a week or two)

Wow, that's really kind of you.  I'll knock out one of the boards ASAP and get all the measurements once I have the new horns here (they're out of stock at PE until March 30, so it'll be a couple weeks)

@Shaun K the front motorboard can be knocked out fairly easy from the back side. Be gentle and you wont harm anything. Try to cut for the new horn configuration. If you ruin it, I'll cut you a new one (or two). No charge.

Now you don't have an excuse, get to cutting.

So just tap it out gently, cut, and then glue/screw it back in?  Or am I missing something there?

Now that you mention cutting motorboards, I'm thinking that just buying new ones would be a good route...then I could preserve the original boards if I ever wanted to go back.  How much would that set me back? :D

Ive had CS1s they sound fantastic. I think it a worthwhile build for sure.

Use Bobs 12" or the eminence 12LFA.

Thanks, that's good to hear.  Did you cut the existing motorboard to fit the new horn, or build a new one?

  5. About 18 months ago I picked up some Heresy I in raw birch.  The cabinets are pretty ratty, but they sound great and the drivers/crossovers are in good shape.  This week I bought some empty Heresy cabs in black that are very nice.  I think I'm going to swap all the components over to the HFB cabs, which leaves me with some ugly old cabs to play with.  I'm thinking a CS-1 project is in order, but I need to decide on woofers (among other things).

Are the K22/K24 preferable, or is the K28 a better choice?  Then there's also other options like this: https://www.parts-express.com/eminence-beta-12a-ii-12-driver--290-408.

I'm hoping to just cut the existing motorboard to fit the larger horn, but if that's a bad idea I'm all ears.

Any other recommendations or tips for a project like this?

  6. Just picked up a very clean pair of empty Heresy HFB cabinets, so I'm thinking about converting my old beat up HBR pair into some Crites CS-1's.  Anyone have some K22/K24/K28 woofers available?  Risers would be nice as well, although I know I can get those from Crites directly too.

Oh man oh man.  I'm up in Saint Cloud dying here.  Been looking for a sub upgrade, specifically SVS.  Was thinking about two new PB-2000s.  I really was hoping for dual subs, but...

    :wacko2:

Hey, I just bought a house in Saint Michael!  We're almost sorta kinda neighbors now :)

I've meet a couple MN forum members and it's always been enjoyable.  Nice to have a meaningful conversation with someone who 'gets it.'

Yeah I'm looking forward to meeting with others locally as well.  I'd love to hear more gear!

I had the wonderful opportunity of getting a demo of Ryans system when I drove over to pick up the 7II's I bought from him. The trio of 904s and three big ported SVS was nothing short of audio bliss. Thank you again Ryan and hope everything is going well for you.

Damn, would have loved to hear those..I guess I missed out :(

BTW...sorry for the latergram on this thread.  Been out of the loop for many months here, just getting back into things.

I didn't take it that way, it's cool. Honestly I meant it's fun to plan out different rooms and what kind of gear will reside in them.

    Congrats on the new place!

My wife and I are in our second home. Similar to you, an upgrade in space from the first. It's not imposing by any means (you've seen it!) but perfect for what we want. I hope to finish a room in the basement for a dedicated HT. Fun stuff!

What a thread crap.....it's just good to see you posting Shawn.

Oh yeah, it's fun just playing out all the possibilities in my head; I just hope I have enough gear for now since I probably won't be able to spend on much of anything else for a while.  Your house is great, I love that neighborhood and if we didn't have to be close to Winnipeg I think we'd consider Madison.  Looks like a really fun town.

Glad to be posting here again...the job stuff took a lot out of me last year so I just didn't have any extra time.  Hopefully that's all done now though.

OK, end of thread crap :)

I keep the Heritage Prices just for fun, it's part of the hobby for me.  It's a research tool and a pretty good guide.  The palest ink is better than the strongest memory.

I appreciate your tracking of this data!  It's helped me make a purchase decision several times, and I'm sure it will come in handy again soon.

Yeah yeah, Rooms. Multiple systems are so much fun.

Ah man, it wasn't a humblebrag or anything.  I've spent the last 2 years living in a tiny house (in a place I'm not too fond of ) and that in some way has allowed me to get into a decently large house, although it's on the outskirts of the city so I'll have a hell of a commute if I ever have to work downtown.  But now I do have 4 rooms I need to decide on, in terms of speakers and gear.  At least I have full reign in 2 of those rooms!  The rest of them will be up to The Powers That Be :)

    How are your Chorus' doing!

They're fantastic, thanks for your work on them!  Can't wait to get them into a space where they can really shine. I wish you were closer so I could collaborate on something, that's assuming you're still CNC'ing cool stuff like this.

I've not owned the original Chorus but is there something wrong with the ports?  There just seems to be holes there.

That's how the Chorus I was designed; no port tubes or flares.  You can tune them by adding these things, just depends on what you're after.  My Chorus have flared port tubes, but to be honest I haven't listened without them so I couldn't tell you what difference they make.

  11. I need some of those $800 Cornwalls in the new house, if only to hear them for a little while before I settle on what works for the room(s).  Speaking of which, I need to make a post in the HT forum for some advice on my oddly-sized basement.

  12. Yeah, wasn't going to get into the price since there are several intangibles there, not the least of which is the walnut finish.  I do know I paid just over half this asking price for my own pair of Chorus, and those were completely rebuilt with new cabinets but with no internal upgrades.  Just thought I'd throw them out here since I know they don't come up often.

I'd love to :).  I know it's kind of an odd request given that we don't know each other, but I have yet to find any other local members of this forum since I moved to MN 18 months ago.  And to find someone who has a couple nice theater setups...well that's just what I'm hoping to experience before I make any decisions :)
