  1. I have 2 Yamaha ysp-3000s and they do a great job if you have 4 walls to bounce the sound off of. They don't make them anymore, but you can find them on ebay. The ysp4000 is bigger with more speakers. They have hdmi inputs. They are bulky and heavy, and there's nothing slim about them. There are probably other brands that work, but I've never heard one better than Yamaha. Technically they are not soundbars, but sound projectors. They have a built-in receiver. It will automatically decode any surround detected through optical or hdmi. It also has a subwoofer output. I have the 8 inch yamaha sub hooked to it, and it outdid my expectations. The newer models are expensive and more slim, but they really work and there's no gimmick. It creates a left and right surround speaker. You will here it but there's nothing there. It doesn't sound fake. I watched Transformers on it and the surround was loud and detailed. I kept rewinding it watching the same scene. The display will let you know if you're listening to 5.1 or stereo. You can adjust every speaker (c, l, r, sl, sr, sub) level just like a regular receiver. My Samsung smart tv recognizes the ysp and controls the volume automatically from the Samsung remote, and it turns off with the Samsung remote.
  2. I looked before I ordered. I guess I didn't see it. I was waiting for some more responses, but I knew people would chime in after it was too late as they usually do.
  3. I ordered the rs-42. I wanted something bigger for the surrounds, but nothing is in stock.
  4. I'm trying to prevent it, but it might end up in a big open space with the kitchen right behind the living room. If there's no back wall which one should I get?
  5. I'm trying to pick between the 2 for side surround. I'll probably just be running 5.1 right now. I have the rf82's, rc62, r-115sw. It's been said that the rs42 are a too small match for the rf82's? I know it doesn't mean much, but I want the rb61 because of the bass extension and they are twice as heavy. Can the rs42 keep up with the rf82's on loud music? I didn't really want mix and match with the newer models. My goal in the future is to get dts-x going with an Onkyo nr-646 and add the rest of speakers later. I'm trying to buy the surrounds right now online. Anyone know which one I should get?
  6. You guys may not believe it, but I took r-12sw's back. I got me a r-115SW today bnib off Craigslist.
  7. I was waiting on someone to respond to the last post, but no one did. I took the hg12s back. I really was trying to listen to the hg12 but the one on demo was blown. That turned me completely off, and I instantly knew they had to go. The hg12 amp plate and port was way bigger than the r-12sw. I know the hg12 being blown was not a good reason to get rid of them because I'm sure some dummy came to the store and was just careless and blew it. I exchanged them for 2 r-12sw.
  8. I'm sticking with klipsch for this room. I'll use a more serious sub in another room. I just don't understand why the reference is more money? If klipsch's ratings are accurate, 100 watts seems like a big deal? The 12hg is heavier, plays lower, and has a bigger enclosure. Is the reference shielded or built better?
  9. Is the reference supposed to be a better sub even though it is rated 100 watts lower? I'm asking because I can get 2 of those for $60 more if I take the 12hg back.
  10. I appreciate everyone's input, but I think I'll keep them. I don't really see point of getting a bad azz hard hitting sub just to have neighbors complaining. I need to be on 2 acres or get a soundproofed room to enjoy my music. That's why I put all the hardcore speakers in my vehicle. I can get on the highway and blast away.

  12. My background is mainly car audio so I do want things to shake. I'm not new to home audio, just new to this forum. I'm not looking for the dream setup. I just want something above average. I have no friends or family to impress because they like factory automotive sound or theater in a box. I know a lot of people and none of them care about Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, or Klipsch. I got my towers and center off Craigslist for $800. I joined because forums are the only way for me to connect with people that like what I like. I know all about svs and hsu, but I'm sure those may be too strong. I've got tickets and been to court for loud music because the neighbors called the cops. Those setups would be considered weak on this forum. I have 2 Yamaha ysp-3000s in 2 different bedrooms with 8" subs, and I'm satisfied with the performance. I know there's better setups, but these sound projectors do a pretty good job and kicks the crap out of skinny soundbars.
  13. I was trying to get everything the same brand. I also could get 2 15 Dayton Audio for about the same price, I was worried about them only being 150 watts. I'm hoping the hg12 lives up to the 300 watt rating. I don't know how big of a factor weight is, but the Dayton 15s are over 20 pounds heavier. The Dayton 12 is even heavier but is rated for less power. I did demo the Klipsch Reference 12 with the rear port and it sounded pretty good. It wasn't perfect but still impressive. I figure the reference and hg12 should be close in sq and output? I will keep them if they don't sound like one note wonders on music.
  14. I read some consumer reviews and they seem to like the Synergy hg12 a lot, but looking at this forum people seem to not like it. I was dead set on just getting one r-115SW, but I decided to be cheap. I have a pair of rf82's, one rc62, Yamaha Aventage a800, and just bought 2 hg12's. I'm wondering how bad they really are and if I should return them? I got the 2 subs for $430 out the door on promo code. What should I do? I don't have any surrounds yet.
