K31 is the woofer to use, correct?
Would anybody have the parameters for this driver? Seems nobody is 100% sure..... -
If my eyes don't d.... he is using tc1244 woofers to test the bins.
Got the same questions, is it universal, size etc.
And do you need a tester in the netherlands[emoji56]
(To see if the kit survives the long transport ofcourse [emoji12] ) -
Hmmmmzzz i got that diy feeling again.... very interested

Maybe this question is a old one... (sorry)
Is there a ideal dcr value for the bass section?
(for the AA and the Alk universal)
If i understand correctly: lower dcr is not always better. Correct?

hi Zoef - I'd really like to pay no more than what Erse Pulse-X cost - - I'm curious about the "tone" of electrolytic caps battery biased and wonder how Nichicon FG back to back with their center ++ junction biased with say 9vdc and 200K would sound vs cheap film caps (?)
Budget wise i would not know of a "better" cap to use. One comes to mind..wima mkp10.... but now i'm being a heretic ha!

I agree with dean on the electrolytics.
You said: they need to be cheap.... what are you willing to pay for a capacitor. (for the highest value / uf ) -
I'm using 16AWG Silver Plated PTFE Wire (from john on ebay, about $15 for 25 feet.) for all my projects.
Even in my amps. My whole system uses the same wire. Yes i'm crazy ha!
In a (universal) crossover i used the 10 awg version of this wire for ground path.
Overkill i know.
Edit: imo this is about the best you can do for wire/cable if you are on a "budget". (bang for the buck) We can always do better.....at what price and gain?
A good pure/oxygen free copper (with or without silver plating) wire/cable with ptfe insulation is always a good upgrade if your speakers have the old 70s wire.
I do not know john...no advertising.

Cool!

Great job!
And very wise to let it break in over a long period.
Like the way you mounted the fets! Did you use a "extra heatsink" ?

Here's a link to some very useful information for everybody who wants to build a pass clone :

Good work!!!
Got a mini-aleph ("half"a Aleph 3) i am working on. Wish i did it your way and used a ready made chassis...... still got 200+ holes to drill
For the extra $40 / $50 or so dollars to get the fully drilled and tapped chassis - it's worth every cent and that = equals money well spent
YES!

Very nice work!
IMO Jantzen is de the best.
Can i ask what drivers you are using is your ls?
-
I have all the schematics so i want to build my own crossovers. (alk universal or AA)
Don't know if alk wants to help me with this. can try.
i live in the netherlands... local time : 16:22

IT: yes a 8 ohms woofer with the alk universal network or AA
-
Edit: Ok, to be more specific.. we are only talking about 4 ohms vs 8 ohms.
I am awere about all the other parameters needed in a speaker design.
-
Guys,
Would it be possible to use a 8 ohms bass driver in a La Scala, Klipschorn or Belle?((EDIT: To be more specific.. we are only talking about 4 ohms vs 8 ohms.

Also, can it be used with a Universal or (super)AA crossover?
Since it is only a 2.5mh inductor in the bass section i don't see a problem there. Am i wrong?
I know the Ap12 was designed to be a 6 ohms crossover with the 1 mh (Le) voicecoil of the k33 in series with the inductor. So a 8 Ohms driver would be a no go?

Thanks!,It's a design for a midbass horn using the Beyma driver, with about twice the mouth area of a LaScala.
It doesn't go any deeper than a LaScala, but is smoother because of it's larger mouth.
It would probably work well in the Klipschorn and Belle, it may require a cabinet modification to fit the LaScala.
It will also need a front gasket spacer for any of those.
Beyma make very good drivers, I have a bunch of their 700W 12LX60.
About the gasket. How thick does it have to be? And are these drivers efficiënt enough? ( 8 ohms )
Beyma's and faital are cheaper to buy for me.
I pay double for us stuff....taxes taxes taxes...........
Would like to buy "universal" drivers. (Hope explain this ok) i mean drivers i could use in any of the big klipsch designs.
Next to the beyma's i am very interested in the faital 15pr400

Sorry djk.... that is over my head
-
Anybody?
-
Anybody tried the beyma 15p80fe/n in a klipschorn or la scala?
Besides being a 8 ohms driver it looks good on specs. (I think)
It is advertised as a horn driver.
