  1. Has anyone compared the RP-280F to the RF-7 II?

Which speaker is technically better for "audiophile" sound quality?

I ordered a pair of RP-160M from eBay this morning for fun, and to get the flavor of the new series of speakers.

I could see getting the better tower speakers on everyone's recommendation. If it turns out to be the RF-7 II's, I'd like to order them before they become scarce and prices get out of control.

    Thanks!

I have you say that you guys, the Klipsch community, have been amazing in offering advice, help and camaraderie.

I'd like to publicly thank everyone.

    Thank you so much.

Please don't advertise it.  We horn guys would rather the direct/radiator or planar guys not know what kind of fun we're really having.  We prefer them to think we're all listening to honk.

    :D

    Ha!

Too funny. Ok, my lips are sealed :D

  3. Hi Jim,

That could be a lot of fun. Thank you for the offer. Yes, I am on Long Island. I am waiting to see what the CES show in Jan. has to offer, audio gear wise.

I'd like to hear what Klipsch has to offer.

    Joe,

If you can make it down into Jersey, there is a place that's about 25 minutes from me. If you're on the Island and come in through Brooklyn you can take the bridge into Staten Island, then the Outerbridge into Jersey. Depending on where on the island you are, it may be less then 90 minutes each way. If you are up for the drive, they usually have them in stock and at discounts. I'd be willing to take the ride with you once in Jersey to show you where it's at. I'm literally 5 minutes over the Outerbridge.

  4. Hi Bill,

I sent a pm and I am waiting for a reply. He is located in AZ. I don't think he's willing to ship. I am in NY.

I am finding it impossible to find the holy grail RB-75's

    These may still be available?

  5. I am finding it impossible to find the holy grail RB-75's or even RB-5's (if anyone can recommend others that I should look for, please let me know).

I'd even consider a pair of Palladium if you guys think very highly of them.

I can't find place locally to hear the different speakers that I am interested in and have no problem ordering online.

Can anyone tell me how you like the RP-160M's? Thanks!

  6. EL-34 are a little more lush, softer and rounder overall. Bass is a little more puffy in comparison. EL-34 are very musical.

The KT-150 seem to combine the sweetness and musicality of the EL-34 with more extension top to bottom, more bass slam and detail without edginess. Definitely more air and 3D with the KT-150 and just a bigger and more open sound stage with clarity.

I bias them at 500 mA and I think they are not even running hard. I expect to get almost double the life out of the KT-150 as compared to the other tubes.

    I had to post this.

I bought a Jolida Fusion 3502 a while back. It came with EL34, which I love. I recently installed KT-150 in it and rebiased. Holy cow! For a $1600 amp and $400 in additional tubes, it sounds amazing.

Absolutely one of the best low to mid level listening amps as well. Tremendous 3D, air and separation. Bass to die for in a tube amp. It's a killer deal.

    What's the difference in EL34 and KT150?

  8. Hi Tom,

I started way back when with RB-5-II and more recently owned new Corwall III's for 2-3 years. I probably should have kept them, but hindsight is 20/20.

I had an opportunity last year to get demo K-horns at a great price but since my main listening room does not have proper corners, I'd have to build false corners and that did not look like that was going to happen for me.

I think I understand the Jubilee sound, I'd like to experience it in person sometime.

I am curious, how familiar is the OP with the Klipschorns?

  9. Thank you jwc,

I know that this may be "overkill" but I found this last night. I know it can be mostly automatic, but not sure if I need to plug in anymore than crossover numbers and let it do the rest. A friend is a dealer and I may be able to try it out before purchase.

Even this on the 2 way Jubilee seems like it would kill other options. Any thoughts?

I may be able to get the 3 way KPT-Jubilee/535-B from a local dealer for less and experiment from there. I am not sure how crazy I want to get though.

If you go the 3 way route model you quoted above, you will be on your own with EQ.  There is no "not behind the screen settings" for this setup.  I've asked more than once.

You would have to RTA your setup.  Then make your own adjustments.  This can be time consuming.  However, if you get it right.......hard to beat.
