This is a dumb question but I gotta ask since I'm sure there are quite a few people that also want to know.

If you didn't have the 2K cash to buy them, why did you contact the seller? Possible financing?

To ask why he was getting rid of them.  I have LaScalas I could trade if he was looking to downsize or he moved into a new place that wouldn't allow corner placement.

  2. I'm going to the Pilgrimage this year and I'm going to rent a cargo trailer to carry the speakers I'm going to sell.  Since I'll have quite a bit of room in the trailer I want to offer up something as a service / courtesy for anyone else going.

I know there are a lot of items for sale in the DFW area that aren't so good after you factor in shipping.  If anyone wants to purchase an item in the Dallas area and pay for it, I'll go by and pick it up and carry it out to Hope along with the rest of my items.  I'd like to get a few bucks for the trouble, but I'm doing in mainly as a favor to other Klipschites (is that a word).

Message me if you want to get something that I can pick up.

    Thanks,

  3. I ran across these this past weekend.  The owner said they were taken from a shut down movie theater.  They need to be cleaned up, some touch up paint, a port on the 18" driver cabinet re-attached.  There are 3 low frequency cabinets.  Two have dual 15's and one has a single 18".  The theater only had ONE of the mid/high compression drivers and horns.  I asked about the other two and they had sold them.  If someone where to get this and find two more matching mid/high horns it would make for a very nice front stage in a theater.

    Models are:

JBL 2445J compression driver with horn and mounting bracket

    JBL 4638TH bass cabinet

    JBL 4645B bass cabinet

    TOTAL AUDIO TA-215-W8 bass cabinet

I tested all of the drivers individually and they work.  The appearance is the only thing that needs some work. I'm going to work on these and I plan to bring them out to the pilgrimage.  At this point I'm going to have to rent a cargo trailer to bring everything out.  If anyone has an interest in these send me a message.

  4. I offered $180 and they accepted.  I'm going to go by either today or tomorrow to pick them up.  I'll post pics when I get them to clarify about the finish.

I have a pair of k-77 tweets from my Cornwalls.  I bought new diaphragms for them from Simply Speakers but ended up getting the Crites tweeters.  I have not installed the diaphragms but they are included.  Not sure what is a good price?  I can install for a small fee.

    thinking maybe $75 for everything?

If you still have these, let me know.  I'm talking to a guy who is parting out a pair of Heresys because the tweeters are blown.  I offered him a fixed price for everything he has including the blown tweeters so I might be able to use these if he accepts my offer.

  6. I can tell you that the amp has an MSRP of $999 but I can discount it heavily. I can't post in a public forum what I can sell it for because that's a violation of my dealer agreement but I could send you a quote or private message you if you are interested.

  7. This is a great thread and I'll have to go back and read it in more detail.  There is so much to absorb.

I know this is already well under way, but I wanted to mention a sub amp that I sell and have used many times.  IMO it's the best "bang for the buck" in this range.

I also wanted to ask about comparing the Eminence LAB15 driver to the Dayton Umax that the OP is using.  I have been considering building box with the LAB15, but the Dayton Umax looks impressive.

  8. What is the price range for buying a pair of KG3s?  What I mean is ......

less than $xxx: run, don't walk.  buy them right away

between $yyy and $zzz: price is about right depending on condition

    over $vvv:  keep away...too expensive.

    Thanks for the input.

  9. Pioneer CS R70 speakers - $300

Vintage Pioneer speakers made back when Pioneer made respectable speakers. These are a 3 way horn loaded design with 12" woofer, midrange and high frequency horns. The sound is similar to an early 70s Klipsch Heresy but with a significantly stronger low end. These have a classic sound that opens up with a bright high end and strong vocal presence in the midrange. The cabinets are heavy and very solid.

Specs (translated from original Japanese manual)

Sorry for the quality of the pictures.  I had to use a higher jpeg compression than I like because of the limit on uploading 2m of pictures per post.

  10. Sterling SE 300 Cathedral speakers - $225

Great sounding vintage speakers. These are very rare and I've only found a few Sterling speakers for sale in the entire US, none of this model. The wood is solid, heavy and well built. Uses a 2 way design with a cone tweeter that gives a smooth, well balanced sound. The sound reminds me of the vintage Advent of the early 70s. The low end is solid and punchy. All drivers are original.
