  1. I got here by reading the post about MCmD or Gill!  So sorry to hear.  Aging is not fun, always more things to deal with.  Two years ago I was doing interment fasting to lose weight and feel better.  It worked well.  Felt so good I went up a tree 20 feet to trim a limb over the deck and promptly fell out and broke both my wrists.  They still don't feel so good after two years!   But on this post, I remember Gill giving me advise and comments.   I think Gill gave me the best advise and I took it to heart when he said,"7) Overall. I'm suggesting that you don't drive yourself nuts to that your search for perfection gets in the way of enjoying your equipment and music."

  3. Yeah I'm in my early 50's and I'm not feelin' it.  That was just awful.  All I saw was a bunch of flashy ego with awful lyrics, awful dancing, and awful vocals.  I was not impressed.  Maybe I'm too old now.

  4. So what is the chance that certain game results are set by a higher power?

Of course for money and/or ratings.  Just seems like always a few games where the team expected to play, didn't show up.

You guys shut us down last weekend and took the win. Brees and our Saints were favored by 16 pts.

Yeah that felt good! Grilled steak afterwards. I have steak ready in the fridge today, But think we will just make meatloaf or maybe just a bowl of cereal tonight. Save the steaks for tomorrow when I feel better.

Yes they are. 17 point lead after fumbled punt coverage. It's over for the Vikes.

From Minnesota, you would think we are used to it. But the slow sinking feeling still hurts bad.

  7. There is air trapped in most snow,  so yes it insulates.  Normally I would go around the house and blow snow against the foundation.  It helps the house stay much warmer.  No need to do that with this storm.  When I look at the garage door pic,  I think,   what a great bass trap!  The sound would be better.  But that is me,  not fond of big boomy bass.

How high do you estimate the drifts are there now?

I see many 8 to 12 foot drifts in places.  Like on the road in front of my farm.  I have seen a few pics from this area of people opening there garage doors and nothing but a wall of snow faces them.  That would suck.  I am not sure why the 1/2 mile east to west road in front of my house is so bad with this last storm.  They are bringing dozers out tomorrow to move the edges back.

  9. Good Q. Never thought of that. Better be good friends.  There is a little slider vent/window on either side.

It's been a "shed" for a long time. Odor is gone.  Long as the skunk isn't residing under it.

EllieMae woulda been pissed. I trapped and transplanted a half dozen coons and 2 skunks. The coons went to the lake. Skunks -- no further than necessary. Just across the creek.

I had a three holer when I moved to this farm. Each hole was a different size, so you could choose your best
    Butt fit! Not so
    Much for
    Company!!

An RO filter is perfect for coffee and you never have to worry about build up.  I've tied mine into the refrigerators icemaker as well.  It's a huge improvement over tap water or water that's been through a refrigerators filter.

I agree RO filter is good for mechanical things.   Never had to repair the ice maker.  Never have to clean the coffee maker.   I live in Minnesota and we have to run a few room humidifiers all winter.  Before RO,  we always had a layer of white dust on everything after a few weeks and plugged filters more often.   Now using RO water both issues disappeared.  But still think my coffee is missing something.  Earlier someone mentioned salt.  Tomorrow morning I am putting a couple grinds of the pink salt on top of the grounds. Hope that helps.  If it brings a little life back to my morning Joe,   I will be eager to find a burr grinder and use beans again like I did earlier in life.  Any recommendations for the cheapest yet adequate burr coffee bean grinders?

just as important is the water !

I live on a farm with own well.  We use an RO setup for drinking and ice cubes just be sure it is clean.   I am sure the RO is just flat and sucks the life out of some coffee.  Kinda like some guys don't like the filters in Audyssey as they say it sucks the life out of some sound.  Ha

The midrange of a forte should be a little clearer due to the squawker covering that portion of the audio.  However, the exponential horn in the KG4 should be a step up from the dhorn in the 2.2.

Thanks,  so I suppose the smart thing to do is to divide up the surround fortes and use one for the center.  I have 36" space under the TV so it can stand upright.  Use newly aquired KG4 for the surround speakers?  Just one lonely left over Forte1.

  13. Thanks Wuzzer.  I am sure there would be some tonal difference  between forte and KG4.   Any guess what frequencies would most express that difference?  I ask because my hearing is very poor in the upper registers,  and if that is where tonal differences would be most noticeable,  I might be OK with KG4.  I hear they have tight accurate bass and that is right down my ally.  Midrange is probably most import for the center any way.

  14. I am getting tired of waiting for another pair of walnut Forte I to come up that I can afford.   Seems their price has gone up since the release of Forte III!!!    Have seen quit a few Walnut KG4 that I could afford.     I will be replacing my current Oak KG2.2.   What are you feelings of a KG 4 between Crites updated Forte 1s.   I have Forte 1s also in place for the surrounds.   Thanks for your thoughts.

I was extremely Blessed in this life that the year I turned 18 the draft was ended. Otherwise I would have had a no win decision to make, go to Canada or Vietnam. God Bless all you men who were forced to go there and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

I was in my second year of college when the draft lottery was held.  About 10 of us in the dorm room listing to the birth dates be called.   Somehow I missed my birthday and towards the end I was getting ecstatic that I had such a high number.  Alas I missed it,  I had number 47 I believe.   Needless to say my grades got much better and and I stayed in school till graduation.   Graduated in 1973 with a BA.  This first class out of the past 10 or 15 years that actually attended four years of college and the draft was over at graduation.  Our little hometown lost 8 kids in the war.  I have always felt some guilty every since.

  16. Thanks, they do look like plastic frames to me.  I will give it a try.   Just surprised with all the operations that have been done to renew speakers here on this site,  that this one hasn't already been done a few thousand times.  I will let you know.
