  1. HI to all, Here is my current system- Receiver- Pioneer 84TXSi Elite Mains-Klipsch La Scala Center-Klipsch C-7 Surrounds-Klipsch Cornwall 2 Back surrounds-Klipsch Chorus 1 Subs-SVS Ultra Tube and SVS PB plus2 I bought a Mcintosh MC2125 tonight and hope to use the Pioneer as a preamp for the mains. I know this is not a tube but I wanted to start with something. The nice tubes that I wanted were a little out of my price range right now. This looks to be a good amp and it kinda matches up power wise with the Pioneer. 120 to 140 for the Pioneer. I was hoping this amp will give the La Scala's some more dynamic sound for the 7.1 and for 2 channel sound. My question to all of you is if you think that I will find this to be true or not? I think I can always sell the amp for what I paid for it so I am not worried about that. Thanks Drfish
  2. Well. I am tired of waiting for one to come up in a auction that is close and not stained at all.. I was bidding on one about a year ago and at the last minute, It was sniped. ( I think ) Later it was damaged. I am thinking about building one. Not sure how that will go. I have all of the speakers I need. I think it probably is the same size as a regular Cornwall except for the motherboard and the ports in front but I am not sure. I was wondering if anyone here has those dimensions. Thanks DrFish
  3. OK-Forget the pictures for tonight. I have added pictures before but it does not seem to work for me tonight. Sorry Peter
  4. To those that might be interested. I am selling a pair of 1983 Cornwall speakers that I have be working on. The reason that I am selling them is because I am a light wood person but when I bought these, they were to dark. Well I sanded them hoping to lighten them up but that did not work. So I stained them in Red Mahogany. I put 2 new speaker stands on the bottom and made them match. I made a new grill for one of them and put new original speaker cloth on both so they would match. They have all of the original speakers that came with them. The mid however is K52H which was not that common. The serial numbers are 34Y950/951. They look very nice but are just not my type of wood. They were birch to bvegin with. I am asking $950.00 and I will not ship them at all. If you live within 50 miles of me .( Moreno Valley) I will deliver them free of charge. However, they would have to be paid for up front. If anyone is interested in more pictures or information. please email me at Drfish96@aol.com. Thanks Peter
  5. The gray stuff is acoustic foam for speakers from Parts Express. Peter
  6. Hey guys, I have decided to sell my 1976 Decorator Heresy speakers. I have refinished them and Bob rebuilt the crossovers. The have all of the original speakers in them and the pie slice logo's. The serial numbers are type HD BR 20P766/767. They work great but before I buy any more speakers I need to get rid of a few of them. I will not ship them. I live in Southern California. Moreno Valley to be exact. It is near Riverside. There are a few blemishes on them but they are hard to notice. I have more pictures if anyone is interested. I am asking $550.00 which I think is fair. If you guys think that they are overpriced , let me know. Thanks Peter
  7. HI, I am going to sell some 1976 Decorater Heresy speakers soon. I live in the Moreno Valley area. Near Riverside. I have to make a delivery now but if you are interested I will email some pictures later. I have posted pictures here on the forum. They have been refinished and Bob rebuilt the crossovers. Thanks Peter.
  8. To All- Last week I was bidding on some Klipschorn speakers and getting some heat on how I liked to bid on Ebay. Now this !!! I realize how petty that was and how lucky I am in my life. My wife and I will have Ken and his family in our prayers tonight. Dean, You dont know me but I would like to donate enough money to pay for some crossovers if that is what his wife would like to do. Just tell me when, where and how much. Thanks Peter Carter
  9. Now you guys are starting on the bidders. Thats pathetic. What a list- 18 years between them-zero negative feedback. All good people wanting a set of speakers. All with thousands of dollars at stake. Not yours by the way. I am begginning to think that you guys are jealous of the fact that maybe they are getting out of your price range. Of course the person with the most money wins. These speakers, in the end are going to be alot of money. This was going to happen weather someone bids early or often. It was going to end up the same way. Peter
  10. Okay- How do you guys get to this point about ebay auctions? I am not the seller ( dont really care if you believe me or not.) These speakers will go for a certian amount weather or not I bid early and often. If you are all waiting till the end, It will still get up very high. Life is to short to take this that serously. I do consider 2500 to ba alot of money. This is serious but it is not earth shaking. Sorry but I will not waste my time thinking this much into it. It is only an ebay auction. At this point I am sorry that I started this thread by asking about the speakers. I have been on the forum for about 4 years and learned alot from it. This is a low point on this forum as far as i am concerned. Peter
  11. Alright!! Since this has turned into a thread on how to bid on Ebay, I will put in my 2 cents or more. I have been bidding on Ebay for 8 years and I like using it as a auction. I like bidding early and alot. This is fun for me. Waiting until the last minute for me would be like watching paint dry. I am not some young kid who gets carried away with the auction. Do I get sniped every once in a while. SURE ! Did I still have fun. YES ! Do I get pissed off about it. SOMETIMES ! Unless you are going to resell the item, I dont believe that paying to much is true. If it is what you want. go for it. I want a pair of Klipschorn. Will I get this pair. Time will tell. I will still have my 88 La Scala's, 83 Cornwalls, 76 Heresy Decoraters and others. My 2 cents. Thanks for all of your replies concerning the speakers. Peter
  12. I live near Riverside ( Moreno Valley) and I might be interested in them. It looks like I am going to have a real hard time winning this auction. It might just get too carried away price wise. Thanks Peter
  13. Thanks for all the great information. I will be bidding on them at some point. I happen to like birch the best. I have a pair of birch La Scala that will become my surround speakers. They happen to also be 88's. Because of the La Scala's, I have subs. Is the bass much better with these. I also have a pair of Cornwall's which I dont use right now. I know that the Cornwalls have great bass but I am not sure about the horns. Thanks Peter
  14. HI to all- There is a pair of 1985 Klipschorns on Ebay ( item # 9731814323) that are in birch and mint. I have a few questions that I know that you guys can answer. Is it normal for them to be shipped as seperates, top and bottom? Are they screwed back on top when you put them together? Do both wires from the top just come down and attach to the crossover? The serial numbers are one off and I am not sure if this will affect the value or not. What do you think? If I were to bid on these, how high should one go for these? I have other Klipsch speakers but these would be the first ones of this type. Thanks Peter
  15. To All- Does anybody know where I can get either of these veneer's cut to order. I am pondering doing my Cornwall's. They have a walnut stain right now and I thought that I could lighten them up enough to do something else with them. However the walnut stain has taken all of the personality out of the wood and I am not happy with it. This would be my fist veneer project. Thanks Drfish
  16. I never understood why people stained them dark either. I do not like walnut stain but this is what I have to deal with now. I am trying to lighten them up enough so that the Golden oak stain will look good. I have not tried any solvents although in the past I have tried mineral spirts on a walnut stained decorator Heresy. It did not seem to make a difference and smelled terrible. I have considered a pickled oak stain from minwax to lighten it up but I am afriad that it will seal the wood up even more and the next stain will not soak in enough. Please let me know if this might be a good idea to lighten up the wood. Thanks Drfish
  17. Dont Worry, I have not gone that far yet. They are CBR's . I have used 180 on them and 320 and have been able to lighten them quite a bit. Not as much as I hoped. I think that the golden oak will look okay over it. I do not want to re-veneer them. I will paint them If I make a mistake. Thanks Drfish
  18. To anyone who might know. I just received some 1983 Cornwall's and they are stained in a walnut color. They looked lighter in the pictures but who knew. Anyway I am in the process of sanding them down to lighten them up enought that a oak color on them might look good. My question is , how thick is the veneer on them? Can I take a 150 grit and really start sanding them down or is this asking for trouble. I do not want to paint them. Thanks Drfish
