  1. That's what i thought, but wasn't sure. I think the human ear hears in 3db increments.
  2. Ok, but they are home built vertical cornwalls, so are they still a cornwall? They are not Klipsch.
  3. OK, ya know, i'm fairly happy with everything right now, except the bass is not perfect. When you add attenuation to the mid are you in return, turning the bass up or down as a result with the mid being turned down?
  4. The 510 horn looks to be very short. Think i could use any driver with it. So, really don't think im limited on space there.
  5. Just curious what the guys here are doing with attenuation, how much at a time, 1db, 2db or 3db?
  6. It's between the Crites 1526 stamped basket and the new K33E. I'm leaning towards the K33, because i don't want to introduce any boomyness. I listened to the Crites cast basket and to me sounded a bit boomy. I have not tried the stamped basket. Assuming the stamped basket will have the same effect.
  7. That's good advice. I will try adding some attenuation in this large room before i spring for the new woofers.
  8. I would like to take a full measure at my listening position first. Then i would like to take a measure of my mid horn driver combo.
  9. Thank you . Will see if i can get this done later today.
  10. Thanks Claude. Really dont want to bi amp my system. A bit too involved for me. I would rather try a woofer swap. I was just listening to the system again at 75-80db levels and as the mid and highs were very clear and articulate, the low and mid base seemed there, but lacking at that volume. I think you are correct when you say the 3015LF would work nice at disco levels(100+). The base is very clean and controlled sounding. I like the mid base my old Heresy's have, that mid base punch in your gut. I like to feel my music as well as listen to it, but not at ear bleed levels.
  11. I see, ok i'll barrow my wifes laptop and see if i can figure this out. I will have to use my Marantz surround receiver to do this because the tube amp does not have a HDMI plug. Thanks for the info.
  12. I don't understand how to set this up. Why do i need audio out on my laptop? I thought i could just use my tube amp for that.
  13. After rereading the cornwall 2.0 thread i need to first double check that my 3015LF woofers are the 4ohm version. Next, I need to try pushing the cabinets back into the corners to see if bass gets better/lower. Also, looks like the 3015LF needs power to shine. I usually listen at 70db, so not alot of power pushed at that level. I'm in the beginning stages of installing some french doors in the opening to the basement at the bottom of the steps to isolate me/music from the wife. She doesn't appreciate anything over 80db level. Lastly, i will be ordering the Ayon spirit v tube amp which i think is 75w/ch, then i can really put the power to them. Also, looks like the Crites stamped basket woofers may be the best option without any other mods. Thanks guys.
  14. Actually, one was a square and one was bought new from Klipsch in 2002 and had a round mag.
  15. Looks like i'm gonna have to buy 2 pair of woofers. One pair for my current cornscala and 2nd pair for the new build cornscala.
  16. Thanks. Now i know why i have to turn the volume knob so much further compared to k33e in these cabinets.
  17. Which one was the Kappalite 3015LF? I could easily add a resistor if i choose the 15A. Looks like the Crites stamped basket is next best. Thanks again for the graph.
  18. When i tried the cast basket Crites they were close to the wall, maybe 1'. I now have the cabinets about 2' from the back wall.
  19. Yes, I did try the Crites cast basket and I thought they were a bit boomy for me.
  20. Ok, you will have to school me reading the graph. I assume spl is on the left, but what determines the best woofer here because I see some others peaking over the blue in spl?
  21. Yes, cluad did say the 3015 had way more xmax, so should good pretty low. I will reread that thread later tonight and i will make note of your K48. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
  22. I have been using the Kappa 3015LF and i'm not too impressed with the low bass. They do sound nice, but not as low as the K33e i used in these cabinets as vert Cornwalls. Just curious to what others are using and liking for woofers in the Cornscala's. I have tried a Crites cast basket and i thought it was kind of boomy. I may use the K33E again, but would like your opinions. Thanks
