  7. As you can see my system, does anyone know who John Curl is? What is my weakest link? Im concerned about the PLD1100 pre. After listening to the Audio Research w/ RF7's and my SM70 amp. Here are some specs on it. Dual mono circuit designed by John Curl Direct coupled -- no capacitors in signal path Complementary hand matched MOSFET drive circuit 100% pure Class A circuitry, 44,000 µF power supply filter capacitance Separate glass epoxy circuit boards for each channel Tiffany-style gold plated RCA jacks Motorized volume control with LED indicator Fully remote controlled, including input selection u thanks -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback

  9. The pre amp was Audio Reserch SS. The source was Rega Jupiter, and my SM70. The sound I had at home utilizing the Paradigm Studio v.2 60's (now sold) was to me very detailed, precise, liquidy. But not until i heard the RF 7's, I realized that the studio's were thin sounding. The SM70 and the RF7's produced music so wide and with plenty of character. In a room full of other speakers, they just did everything right. The store had the RF7's hooked up to an Antique Sound Lab Int. 3.5 watts a channel. It was nice, But, the SM70 had more control of the low end, made me forget where i was at.(openess, huge soundstage, and a relaxing sound) I hope this gives you an idea of what my experience was. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  10. Thank you. mine are Mahagony May i ask what (01-S) stands for? this is reffering to the Heresy II's Thoughts: My room is 15 x 25, carpet, and the speaker locations will be centered on the 25' wall. After they are in place, my listening position will be about 9' from the speakers. about 7' apart / 2' from the back wall / 7' from the sides. Do I need the slant risers? Is my question clear? thanks -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback This message has been edited by BenG on 01-18-2002 at 04:32 AM
  11. Dont tell me that! 1st - fear of purchasing a damaged/modified pair. 2nd - my thoughts were if they are new, they are superior. 3rd - I would be able to hold on for quite sometime and perhaps put them on e-bay (like 10yrs from now) BUT now, since you said "old ones sound better", Im at a loss of words. Having never heard either. ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  12. Thanks to all who responded. I stopped by the Klipsch dealer hear in Houston, TX. They allowed me to hook up my SM70 to the RF7's (thats the only speaker they had) they just became autorized Klipsch dealers so they too are awaiting the rest of the line. Back to the event the session was memorable! to say the least. -benny ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
  13. Well, Im anxiously awaiting for the arrival of my Heresy II's. This is my first pair, and Im new to this forum. I have never heard the Heresy's, but I have a strong feeling they are what Im looking for. The order was placed 01-16-02, so Im looking at 4 weeks, according to the dealer. Has anyone heard the Heresy's with the Monarchy Audio SM70 amp before ? Your thoughts. ------------------ Monarchy Audio SM-70 Onkyo DV-S535 MSB Link III Parasound PLD 1100 KLIPSCH HERESY II AudioQuest Slate/Diamondback
