I agree fully, I have all 8 seasons on dvd, for me, it's the ONLY way to watch that show, it's like one big mini series, so much easier to view back to back!

I concurr, my S4's arrived tonight, very nice solid sounding earphones.
only comment I'd make is, a cable clip provided would be a nice thing to have to keep the wire safer.

It will play, but not charge, as you figured, plays nice too [] have Pandora
internet radio playing, which is a very nice app to have on there!
As to the hum, don't hear that on mine, depending on if the Touch needs charged
I'll hook up the charger to it and run a patch cord from the head phone jack.
I'm starting to just have music on my 80gig one and let the videos be on the Touch
a lot easier to watch on a plane, and that should more than cover the amount of music
I want to carry on the ipod.
Good luck! Also, I highly recommend the new Klipsch SXT it will charge and play the
Touch as well as my gen 5, also it has Svideo out, very handy for me on the road, I can connect
up to the hotel tv and watch my movie selection.

I just got the iPod Touch, which also doesn't charge in there, but as you figured out, you can use the head phone jack and go in the back door, no wories and yes, your control will control the volumne of the amp, just turn the volumne up on the ipod and you're good to go and usually the battery lasts a long time playing music so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to charge it up every now and then.
BUT I also have a Gen 5, which is playing now, can you hear it [] nice system, solid sounding.
Enjoy,
G2
Edited to add, what's wrong with your gen 5? I just had my front cover replaced and a new battery installed, looks like new.
-
one additional piece of good news, compared to the previous SXT, this one doesn't have the pop when you unplug the power cord, nice touch guys/gals
enjoying this again tonight, watching a few tv shows and a movie later on, hey, it keeps me out of trouble []

Thanks, that's exactly what they did, left the old one out there,
which doesn't charge the Touch, but I opened a box, p/n as you indicated and
that one works fine, and bought it too, haven't had a chance to play it in the
hotel yet, will do so in a short while and it seemed to also charge my older video Gen 5 iPod
Question, will the Svideo signal be sent out by both the touch and my Gen 5 ?
I'll test it soon, but was wondering if it was wired to get both?
Thanks again for your help
G2
Edited to say yep, it handles outputs from either my Gen 5 video iPod or the Gen 2 iPod Touch, nice
and beautiful sound as well, Outstanding job Crew Klipsch!

Thanks Andy, that sounds like the ticket!
I'll check bestbuy out tomorrow here in Clearwater and see if the have one on hand!

That's incouraging to hear [] and for the time being I still have
an oler 80 gig video iPod that I will also keep using until it crashes and dies
the SXT charges it, allows Svideo out the back, what's not to like!
Again, thanks for the reply, as you can probably tell, I'm a Klipsch fan,
I've the RF7's and RC7 for my main front and center channel, need to upgrade
to the RS7's if I can locate a couple but that's not a high priority, as the wife factor
won't allow wall hanging speakers at this time, oh well !
G2
-
Ah, ok convoluted is by it's definition, a bit of a problem. Thanks for the reply
and I'll wait and see what comes about, I don't read much blogs so I'm out
of the loop, as you can tell ;-)
Tempted to get another SXT before they are no longer available, the one I have is nice but
from the carrying to and fro the cloth is frayed along the edges, being pulled in and out
of a computer roll around bag, still sounds great of course!
G2

As the title asks, I have both the iFi and the SXT, and they are wonderful but
with the purchase of the iPod Touch, neither will charge the Touch.
Also the SXT of course no longers has the video out, thanks to Apple changing the wiring
SO, I would certainly like to see something from Klipsch that both charges as well as outputs
video for the new iPod Touch devices.
I'm certain it would be a hit, as searching around there isn't much in the way that does either.
Thanks,
G2

Yep, I have had mine for a long time now, travel the world with it, works great
use it all the time in the hotels, using the Svideo out to the tv to watch movies
also for the alarm clock function too, quite handy!

Hi BH, from what I've read, the later edition iPods changed their video output
and on this Klipsch site there is a notation now added that video out is not available
using the newer iPods, I'm lucky that I have an older 80gig that allows the video out
both in the unit via the Svideo or I can also use the top headphone jack to get composite
video out as well, when I travel that's what I do, use the SXT for the sound and on hotel tv's
that do not have Svideo I can plug in the composite cable and watch videos off of the iPod
Wouldn't travel anywhere without that combination!
SO, I keep my fingers crossed that my iPod holds up for a long time, I'd have to revamp my travel kit!

I was really hoping nothing would go wrong with this unit, fingers crossed
but now the left channel is Snapping loudly, large Crack POP sounds coming from
that channel, is there anything to do to stop this? I'm worried that it will suddenly just
stop and not work altogether [*-)]

Well, you know, I said I was going to save money and not get the HDMI but when I was there with my daughter, we went ahead and got a cable, BUT, I should have listened harder to you, you were echoing in my mind as I was buying it [H] as when I hooked everything up, it looked great, but when playing just on the TV the lip sync was off a lot, on the dvd player they have a setting you can change to help get it back in sync but that didn't help, PLUS a few times the video did not come back on, had to turn off the dvd player and back on again to get it to show up,
SO, today, just now actually, I took the HDMI cable back to Circuit City and picked up some monster video cables and audio cables to go via components, like a goof I had given my other cables to my daughter, but that's ok, they needed them anyways. I hooked up some flunky cables to test my theory out and yep, the lip sync was dead on with the component and audio cables hooked up, I'll tweak the player a bit more later with the new cables when I get home tonight. I was worried when I took the cable back, as I didn't keep the plastic case they come in, but they exchanged it with no problem at all.
Now I wonder if the upconverting will work via the component cables or not, either way, with a small screen crt it looks pretty good anyways!
G2
edited to say found the manual on line for my TV and the component
input will accept 1080i so I should be able to upconvert too... -
Just got a new DVD player today, a Sony 5 disc with upconverting to 1080 which does look a little
better. I'd love to try out another receiver, but can't go the dough right now, but might take a listen
some time to hear what's out there, but as I say, it's a drive to get some place that has a lot of models
to look at, interested in hearing the Denon, and I also like the Onkyo, they seem like they have a good rep too.
G2
-
It sounds pretty good to me, but I've nothing to truly compare it to, previous setup was
Sansui Integrated amp and tuner, then bought an Adcom power amp, stereo, but the Sansui had
a cleaner more open sound by itself, found that out later on!
Then a Sony non ES receiver when I got into HT, traded the Sansui back where I bought it
so when it was time to move up, went back to the same place, traded in for the ES model, they didn't carry Denon there, had some NAD and not much else
so I was limited on my selection if I wanted to do the trade in thing, also where I bought my RF3's and upgraded to the RF7's and RC7 later on.
Even so, this place is about 60 miles each way, nothing really close, we just got a BestBuy and Circuit City but never considered them high end on stereo equipment.

While I exchange movies on my iPod often, there are a few that
are a main staple that I keep on there to tide me over while
traveling, here is a list of what I keep most of the time;
Anaconda
Anacondas
Arrival
Assassins
Captain Ron
Murder by Death
My Cousin Vinny
Rat Race
The Run Down
Sin City
Tremors
300
while I don't have The Princess Bride on there yet, I think it's
because I've seen it OVER and OVER so many times
otherwise it would be on there too...
So, do any of you guys/gals have a few movies you just keep
on your iPod all the time? Or do you watch and remove.
btw I've the older 80gig Classic iPod, bought it one month and
15 days before they came out with the new 160gig, they said
if you had bought your iPod within the last 30 days, they'd
exchange it the newer 160gig, missed it by that much!
I emailed them but no answer, ah well...the old 80 is doing
fine so far, knock on my head

Thanks Roger, my friend Win Heger has some very nice custom knives, some are
moderate priced some are up there a ways, as they are custom, but his price is fair
he's one of the good guys. He moved from NJ out to Utah, that in itself was a life changing
step!
Some of his pictures are for reference, and may not be available for sale, email or give him a
call, he is a very personable fellow, just tell him G2 sent you as way of introduction.
G2
edit, depending on the size/room available, I can put some letters on the back, they are
more block style small letters.

Nope, it's the Sony DA5ES Receiver
bought it about 6 years agoG2
-
that's good to know, I think I'll give this a whirl, as I usually use my receiver for the audio anyways
for just about $100 or so, it might be worth the shot to see how it compares.
Thanks, saved me buying an HDMI cable for now!
G2
edited to add, I uploaded the shot of my HT system to that amazon listing for my tv, first time doing that on amazon [H]
-
I don't think that this model does up conversion, I'm using the component out, the dvd play doesn't have HDMI, so that's the best I can do out of the dvd player.
The TV is a Samsung Slimfit 30" CRT, there isn't any changes that I can see to be made on the TV itself
to upconverting any input signal.
Here's a link to the TV I own Samsung TX-S3082WH

North eastern PA, just below Elmira NY, and at least 5 years ago
I asked the ENT doc about any connection, he just laughed and said NO, but it's a mighty
big coincidence and it was a large bite...
I've tried lots of things, cutting out caffiene, sugar, took some 'stuff' that was suppose to help
my wife got some drops for me that was also suppose to help, nothing yet...
and yep, no good deed goes unpunished [H]

Now that is something I hadn't heard about!
Well I remember the day it struck me, not the date, but the day, we were removing leaves
around our Church, raking them up onto a tarp and throwing them into a deep ravine, our
Pastor loaned me some gloves he had from his garage, I slipped them on, started working
and felt a stinging bite on my wrist, looked down and saw a large mark on my wrist, I suspect
it was a large spider that was hiding out in the glove, within an hours time of that bite the ringing
started, I remember asking the Pastor what that noise was, of course he didn't hear it, I had almost
no sleep for the next few weeks as it kept me awake, now it's just annoying and I'm use to it some
what, but it makes reading a real pain, hard to sit down to a nice book with that, so my reading
has dropped off considerably.

Well, it BARELY fits, here is a quick image of the speaker from the side, you can see that the top glass and middle glass TIGHTLY sandwich the speaker, it doesn't overhang too much, but you'd not want anything larger in there!
As to a larger tv, once they get the refresh rates better I may upgrade, for now, I am partial to the crt look, just so tight!
I think I might get a new dvd player that upconverts to 1080i as my tv is High Def, just not sure how the dvd's will look, I don't want things looking plasticty like I've seen some sets look, so I'm hesistant to get one, Bestbuy has a 5 disc Sony for $116 that's tempting...

iFi speakers
in Personal Music Systems
Posted
Question, I have some Klipsch bookshefl speakers, would they be able to play on the iFi system? We've a wedding coming up and need something portable to take to the reception, was thinking the bookshelf speakers might have better overall sound quality?
Thanks,
