  1. I had three little weddings, I mean daughters, and was fortunate while they were growing up that they didn't mess with the stereo. Back then I had a Sansui Integrated Amp and tuner with an Adcom power amp added a bit later, surprisingly when I went back to just the Sansui integrated Amp the sound seemed more detailed and open than with the Adcom, weird! Also had DBX Soundfield 100 speakers trapazoidal looking rascals but threw a nice image no matter where you walked in the room, wasn't as good for Home Theater when I got into that, hence the move to the Klipsch, which should last a long time if I can keep the grand kids outta there [st] G2
  2. It's been a constant thing for a few years now, but there are good days and bad I'll have to give that some consideration, that would be pretty cool setup ! G2
  3. It's a modest size TV, 30" diagonal, went for that instead of LCD for right now just like the looks of a CRT and will wait for the faster refresh times that I'm sure will be coming. This one is also a High Def tv, 1080i, works great, looks great... I had the RF3's before but I didn't think they were as musical, where the RF7's just have more presence to them, also have a velodyne sub but the RF7's have a good amount of ummph to them all by themselves. The stand I picked out for it's clean look, trimmed back on my components so everything fits pretty well on that, it's a Bello stand, here's a Link that has a better view of what it looks like. The speakers are just about even with the top of the tv, so it sort of 'looks' right, at least to me G2
  4. Congrats! Seven's are Heaven, so to speak [H] Have mine for a while now, lovely to look at and to listen to for both music and HT too here's a quick shot taken of my setup, there's an RC7 just beneath that Samsung slimfit HD CRT BARELY fit in there on that shelf but sounds a lot nicer lower than when it was on top of my old cabinet RF7's system Was looking at a Denon just the other day, well on line, might move up from the Sony I have now, it's fairly decent receiver, but getting upgraditis again... G2
  5. Hehe, well maybe, I did put the cd in this morning, all seems well, as well as it can sound which made me feel just a little better too, G2
  6. Yikes, I bet that was really loud! Well, monkeyed around a little more, turns out my center channel wasn't being engaged by the receiver, took a bit more fussing around but got that back on and it sounds a lot better, too late right now to throw Billy Joel back in but I think that will take care of how weird it was sounding, I hope! Had Pirates 2 in there, that sounded very very nice, so hopefully I won't have to figure out a new receiver, checked and saw my Sony's been running for about 6 1/2 years now gotta last a bit longer! G2
  7. Thanks, and been to thoes guys already a while back, have tinnitus so it sort of rings all the time anyways [:^)] I'm looking at a Denon 3808, but at $1,700 I've some saving to do if I even think about that, will check some more tonight to see whats what it's the Billy Joel SACD The Stranger that really sounds weird right now the voices are off in the distant for some reason, very odd. The Lyle Lovett SACD Joshua Judges Ruth sounds ok, I've only the two SACD's don't see myself buying many more of them. G2
  8. Have to do some more checking but I think it may have damaged part of my receiver, the DVD player is also an SACD player and when I go to discrete inputs I get a buzzing high pitched noise associated with that, I don't remember that ever being the case, but then I didn't play it that much...ugh! G2
  9. Yes indeed, that sounds like a nice arrangement, and this little episode has me looking a little bit at what is out there, maybe start a slush fund for a new receiver/amp, that'll take a while to do. G2
  10. yah, the little whipper snapper is fine, he was long gone before I got home baby sitting the grandkids, it will be something to WATCH for from now on!!! [H] G2
  11. hi Roger, here is my web page, I've forsaken the fixed blade world and make just leather sheaths for folding knives, but occasionally will take on a fixed blade, depending on the circumstances; Web page Email a pic of the knife if you have one, and yep, I'm sure he was just cranking around, at the time nothing was turned on he just likes turning the knob... G2
  12. Now that would be a nice feature to have! All seems well today, my ears are 'almost' ring free [] G2
  13. yes indeed, a scare it was ! My wife and daughter were outside, at the other end of the house, 50 feet away through several walls and a concrete block outer wall and it startled THEM they thought I DID it on purpose to scare them, that's how loud it was! Which, in retrospect, shows just how LOUD those RF7's can pump Ears still ringing! Here's a shot of my system; G2
  14. Friend, you are SO right, but having that for as long as I've owned it, without incident, I've gotten too careless, of course not having a larger indicator on the dial doesn't help, all for the look I'm praying that everything will continue to work, as I truly have not the funds to replace any of the system at this time, I never buy on credit, only buy when I have all funds in hand for toys such as this, and I only buy with what I call 'leather' money, I have a side hobby that I make knife sheaths to build my discretionary fund up, took a lot of cows to pay for what I have already! G2
  15. Just a bit upset, my wife was babysitting the grandson today she didn't watch him too close, but saw him turning the BIG knob on the receiver, BUT she didn't bother to see that it was turned back down again. I come home....throw in a dvd, hit the power on the receiver, BAM ! I live out in the country, but I swear they must have heard this back in the city 16 miles away!!!!! The volumne was turned up ALL the way! OUCH, my ears STILL hurt after 15 minutes!!! my system is made up of, or was made up of; Sony DA5ES Receiver Sony 685V dvd/sacd player Samsung Slimfit 30" crt HD 1080i Klipsch RF7 mains Klipsch RC7 center Klipsch SB2 surrounds Velodyne SPL1200 subwoofer So, it made one dooozzzzyy of a sound when she cranked on, YIKES and of course, my wife thinks this is a big hoot, and laughs good thing we don't have guns in the house... I'm still to shaken to even use it right now, I checked the main speakers, all seems ok, but MAN something must have gave out, I mean it was LOUD ok I'm calming down a little now, but man... G2
  16. Don't know how much longer these are going to be available received my set and wow, very nice, excellent sound, highly recommended! Thanks Amy and the Klipsch Gang, G2
  17. Jay, I work for a company called EmhartGlass, the main company makes the machines that forms glass containers, which we sell all around the world my section designs and makes the machines that look for defects in what is called the Cold End of a glass factory, we look for fractures, too thin of glass if the container isn't conforming to what the customer expects it to be, we look for to remove those containers from the production flow. Right now this glass factory is brand new, not only in building, but in the production of glass containers in this case beer bottles. So they are having MUCH trouble making good bottles so we are throwing away close to 90% of the ware, but the bottles are so bad they are breaking up in our machines, normal factories would never try to select out of 10% to get some good ware, but they don't want to listen so we are fighting an up hill battle, it's a little better I'm told, so maybe it will be a bettter 2 weeks this time around! In comparison, I was in Ireland for a few weeks, at least there I had a day or so that we could look around, that wasn't too bad and I liked the people there. My position is called Project Manager, so on larger installations, over 5 machines, we would go on site to oversee the project. There are 18 machines here, various flavours so it's not 18 of one type. G2
  18. Ain't no eye candy, leave in the dark of morning and get home in the dark of night and working all through the two weeks, no days off, so no beaches, no vacations here just a long trip down and even longer days of work, crazy I know, I wish I could take a day off and get to the beach, but no way unfortunately... G2
  19. Yep, it sure is, was just there before Christmas and it was fairly blistering hot there already, now it's getting even warmer, wouldn't be too bad, but in the factory they don't even use fans to move the air, so it just compounds that, but, better than ice and snow I guess! G2
  20. I only wish that would be the case, 2 hour drive to the factory, 14 hour work day, 2 hour drive back of course, so back to the hotel around midnight each day for 2 weeks straight, and, salary paid so no overtime for the long flight down or the hours worked, just a bad roll of the dice again...and, it's VERY hot there too, not a lot good to say I guess, at least it's a job though, be that as it may! G2
  21. Right you are, I was just coming back to write that it was content and not the system, when there IS some subwoofer substance in the music, it comes across nicely! Listening to some Alison Krauss and Union Station right now, very sweet, amazing for just an iPod! Just got word that I leave for Brazil on Tuesday until Feb, so I will only have the weekend to listen and check the system out, will be taking the SXT along for the ride there I think, which also has a very nice sound Thanks all, G2
  22. Got home, unpacked the box before unpacking my bags sounds very nice indeed, the sub doesn't thump as loud or as strong as I thought it would, will play with that adjustment some more but I think I have it turned all the way up. Nice solid sounding system overall though! G2
  23. Ya got me sir, this SXT isn't a wireless that I know of, you'd need the RoomGroove I think to do that??? but then, I don't know all of the Klipsch's line up of iPod sound docks, maybe someone else with a fuller brain pan will chime in. But, I have used the Aux in from my Laptop before so that much I know you can do, the wireless I don't know about Sorry! G2
  24. You're welcome Ben, and yep, works nice, you have a more secure feeling when changing things on the iPod, if you can't find a bumper find something that would slip down behind the nano, even a nice piece of wood that would provide a back rest to it, a baggy of bumpers would be a great idea too! I thought it was a good thought that Klipsch provided the Aux input when other folk don't, plus that Svideo out is handy too! G2
  25. I'll read the manual tonight, but the volumne is just for the sub your saying right? the sat's are controlled via the remote then correct? Picked up a 30' roll of monster 16 gauge wire last night, so I'll be ready to set it up quick when I get home tonight [H] G2
