BigManStew was talking about the singer meatloaf. I think it is fitting that I listen to meatloaf bat out of hell right now. Im not using any bat though. I hear thats not a good idea. As a burned out hippie dude I met in my travels would says, thats some bad boogie!

FYI, I smoke the loaf at 250F to 260F for approximately 2 ½ - 3 hours, for an internal temperature of 165F.
Thats about what I was reading it would take. Im not to worried about the smoking temp as long as it stays above 225 and below 300 or so. I was pulling at 165 like you said. Thanks for all the tips guys.

Im going to shape it using a bread pan putting saran wrap under it. I can pack it tight that way. Using a grate to smoke it on.

I have never made one but im going to make one tomorrow. Im using half ground beef and half sausage. Not going to use much wood. I don't think it will take much. Anyone ever do one on a smoker?

Rodger the best time to hunt in the woods is after a rain, in the spring when the ground temp is 50 to 60. Mid 40 temps at night. 60 to 70 in the day and sunny. Loomy soil with leaf cover is where I do the best. North banks early in the season. Where the sun is hitting it. A lot of times around dead trees, and look around may apples also.

Jeff,
It isn't season for them yet in Ohio. I am an avid game hunter and have never found any in the wild. Have not priced them this year, but last year you could buy them online for $50 a pound. Extremely rare and buttery flavor so I am told.

I like them a lot. But part of it is the fact that you found them. I think this alone makes them taste better to hunters. I dipped them in egg. Rolled them in flour, with salt, and pepper. Fried in cast iron skillet a bit. So good!

$60/pound is a bit rich for my taste.
I don't buy them often. Most I paid in the past is 35 bucks but that was 4 or 5 years ago. I would not sell them for that with the work involved. And its a lot cheaper than weed. Its a one time a year thing so if you want them you either hunt or pay someone. I only have time to hunt maybe one more time this year. Season is about up here.

A good way to make potato wedges is bake whole potatoes first. I love crispy and this makes crispy on the outside. Soft in the center!

Try dipping your grilled cheese in Ketchup! It is so good.

I hope he pulls thru. Love to listen to him.

I hope I never have to mess with a cassette tape player again! It was fun in the late 70s early 80s, but I’m over it. Only thing worse was a 8 track. It would bring back some memories I guess. Knock yourselves out lol, and have fun with it.

I had a babysitter that had a ton of albums when I was 6 or so. Me and her brother would play tennis rackets like guitars. Two songs I remember well were One toke over the line and Cherokee People

I just took a poo, and the wife had to drag me by my ankles across the yard after the big event. Then she sprayed me off with the garden hose. Works great but we did get some looks!

Smoked meatloaf
in Lounge

I have the meatloafs on. Everything going well. Smoker trucking along at 232 degrees. Using a bread pan with saran wrap in the pan worked great for forming the loaf. I hope they turn out good. Peace!
