The Olds had 5 bolts per cylinder on its heads, whereas Buick had 6.  You could bolt Olds heads to a Buick, but not the other way around.  The nail valve Buick produced more torque than the Olds.

    torque is Buick's specialty.

The 510 lbs ft 1970 455 and every engine they make.

Of course the engineers got a bit strange when they put the torque on the air cleaner lid instead of cubes like every other manufacture.

Messes people up to this day.

Only the heads were Olds. The block was the Buick casting.

    Always learning.

That 1962 Buick Indy car is at the IMS Museum.

Right now its down in the basement which very few people are allowed down there.

I cant wait til its rotation comes up again. I have never seen it in person.

Thanks for posting that article, I have seen it before but it was old and tattered.

    I now have it saved.

I believe it was named the Harvey Aluminum Special.

I was always pulling for those Buick V-6s at Indy.  Lots of power and drama, but not enough longevity.  Attended the race the year Danny Ongais drove the recently departed Scott Brayton's pole winning car from last to seventh.  Not too bad for a drag racer.

    Interesting you mentioned Indy.

    Cool car Davis.

Those pushrod 3.8s would make a lot of power.  They've bottomed out in price and started rebounding around here.  They're now in the appreciation mode.

You are correct about the values.

Our Buick club events used to be a sea of black. the GN out numbered the 60's cars 4 to 1.

But those guys moved on to newer performance cars and then the values slowed down. I have noticed the upward moment the last few years.

I have some great friends from TX that make the trek to Bowling Green, KY for our national event.

  5. This is my slowest Buick but my favorite.

A highly optioned California car I have owned for 15 years.

    1965 Riviera Gran Sport.

    425ci, 2x4bbl

1 of 3354, not ultra rare but I don't see Gran Sport Rivs come up for sale often.

It is mostly all original except for new paint.

  6. The Flyin Hawaiian, enjoyed watching him.

I collect race and restore 1960's Buicks Gran Sports and Turbo Regal/Grand Nationals so that Indy program and the Brayton's are very dear me.

That lil 231 V6 has seen a lot of variants, been carbureted, fuel injected, turboed, supercharged and raced at Indy.

It scared the NHRA when Buddy Ingersoll showed up in Pro Stock in a Turbo Regal.

I had a Rosewood T type that I bought brand new in 87.  Loved it.  I put a Kenne Bell chip in it and gutted the fonverters.  My gosh that thing sounded good and ran likevcrazy.  It would actually chirp the tires when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd.

Very nice, Rosewood is a great color. You do not see many in that hue.

I have a ton of parts to bolt on this one. just haven't yet as I thought I might get a nicer one someday. But now I doubt it.

I have headers, Alky injection kit, 57lbs injectors, 21 row stock location intercooler, 3 inch downpipe, rear upper and lower control arms, drag radials. I sold my TA-49 turbo but now with modern turbos having ball bearings and better aerodynamic vanes I need to pony up some cash for one and get to wrenching.

  8. I watched the intro live last night.

Makes my 485HP Scat Pack Challenger 3rd fiddle now.

I love that Dodge is pushing the envelope a bit further than the Hellcat.

It might be an older platform than the Camaro and Mustang but Dodge is getting their money worth out of it.

Also the Trailhawk, a Hellcat powered Jeep Grand Cherokee and an SRT Durango is in the works.

Also joining with Hagerty as the official insurance company of the Demon was a great marketing move.

  9. I enjoyed the final round of the masters.

I do not mind Sergio winning but he would not be my first choice.

I thought the manner in which he and Justin handled themselves was exceptional.

Now if only Kuchar could have made it a 3-way playoff.

I transported a pair of Belles in a 2012 Ford Escape.  Barely fit, but they fit.  Belles are wider side to side than LS.  Recommend you take a bunch of measurements of your speakers.

You wanna drive to Columbia MO and pick up some LaScalas with me?

All the beer and crack fries you can eat plus fuel. :P

You know my small car wont fit them.

Or I can rent a van and you can be the wing man.

  11. When Frank Sinatra walked into a Hollywood club in 1957 where Rickles was performing, the comedian greeted the “Chairman of the Board” from the stage: “Make yourself at home Frank. Hit somebody.” Sinatra roared — with laughter.

He also was awesome on the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast

I do not know anything about Archie Miller.

I don't know if Alford would have been a good choice or if he would have even considered the job.

Heck I would have been happy with Reggie Miller even. We are so dang sentimental here in the Hoosier state.

Speaking of Reggie Miller I am happy to see CBS give him some primetime this year. I enjoy his coverage of the games.

So what do you all think of the Archie Miller decision?

Which rouge team are going rogue and rooting for now?

It is down to Xavier and UNC.

I probably wont even watch the other games, those teams have no resonance with me.

  14. Dang they grow em big down there in Mayberry.

    An offensive rebounding machine.

Congrats and total respect to UNC.

The respect is due to the fact they have kept that program elite for so very long, something here at Indiana University we let slip away.

Come home Steve Alford and make IU right again.

All the Indiana teams are out, guess I have to go rouge now.
