  1. This same question has probably been asked and answered a few times but I can't find it. How would one go about hooking a second receiver into an AVR receiver so one could use the phone input. AVR has none. I would have to disable the amp section on the add on receiver. There are inputs on the AVR for adding; however, not sure about the other one. Can you go through the tape mode? Kind of short on cash at the moment and don't want to have to go and buy a phone pre-amp. I have the additional receiver though. thanks,
  2. Not sure I understood some of that stuff, but I do know I have an H/K AVR500 and Pioneer CD PF958 (I think). The multi stuff mentioned above doesn't apply because this is hooked into the CD portion (two channel source I believe)and not subject to 5.1 or anything. Thanks though
  3. Just realized the other day that I have an optical connection in my Pioneer CD player and I hooked it up. Is it possible that it might not sound as good as the RCA analog hook up or am I just imagining it?
  4. My H/K AVR Receiver has no phono jacks and I want to hook up a turntable. I have to get a phono pre-amp for the magnetic cartridge and was wondering if I could hook through the Tape In/Out (?). I do not have any auxiliary jacks either and was wondering if the tape would work as an aux hook up with the pre-amp.
  5. I have an HT system using H/K 500. I'm running the RF-3II for fronts. I have an DC Integrated Kenwood Amplifier KA-9100 (90x2) and am thinking about using if for music with my RF-3s. I know about the Russound amp switch and will probably use it. My question is: Should I notice any difference in the music quality. I would run the CD and a turntable thru the Integrated Amp. I hate to let this monster just sit around and not be able to use it. This Kenwood can either be used via (2) channel Stereo or u can switch to using as (2) seperate mono amps. It is very heavy and pretty impressive.
  6. Just received my RF-3II last week and they are truly great in both music and HT. If you set them right with a sub they rock. The larger the room I guess the bigger speaker you may want. My room is not too large.
  7. Keith, yes this does look like what I am looking for; however, at the present time funds are limited, without event knowing the $$.
  8. Is any one familiar with any devise than you can A/B switch from one amp to another. I have a Integrated Amp that I would like to be able to use for stereo on my mains without having to do any biamping. Right now using AVR for everything. Would like options.
  9. Keith, that may be my best solution. I want to be able to run my RF 3s, not only from my H/K AVR but when listening to stereo music I would like to run them through this bohemoth Kenwood KA-9100 integrated Amp. A/B switch might be just the ticket. There must be other manufacturers making these things. I can't be the only one who would like to be able to do this. Thanks
  10. Actually, I haven't got them yet and am in the process of making decision regarding what to get. My quintets are approximately (2) ft above ears and pretty much parallel to the ears because my couch is against the wall (no other place to put that).
  11. I suppose there would be no problemo using it for the mains by way of b-amping? I believe the old Kenwood KA-9100 is a pretty good one; however, I haven't used it in years (boxed up) and (1) channel is kaput so I would have to get it fixed. 150 wpc.
  12. Certainly someone should know this answer??????
  13. I apologize if this has been addressed before. Would there be a difficulty hooking a Integrated Power Amp to the bottom posts on my RF-3IIs while still having the top posts hooked to my AVR. I have the old Kenwood Integrated Power Amp (KA-9100) and was wanted to use it for Stereo with my mains. Of course I would not run both at the same time. Has anyone had any experience with the KA-9100?
  14. Thanks much and I will P.S. I suppose the RB-3 are out of the question because of the port and having to mount somewhat flush with the way. Does anyone know the minimum amount of space needed behind this speaker?
  15. I am terribly sorry, I have had to live with the fact that, unlike some, I am not terribly bright and besides having this system for (2) years and no one has ever changed the setting in the past - well I just didn't think to check - but as I inferred your the genius and I not! I might add that IMO you are displaying a disservice to this forum with you negative attitude to those less gifted than you. IMO
  16. This is primarily what I plan; however, my question is about the distance from the speaker to the rear wall. I am placing on the side wall.
  17. Now that my RF-3II are off and running (playing) I have to start preparing for the RS -3II surrounds. These babies are really large compared to my Quintet surrounds. I have an enclosed wall meaning 45 degree angles backside. My listening area is against the wall so my speakers will have to be horizontal to the ears. When mounting the RS3 there will only be about 2 to 3 inches from the back wall. Will this be a big problem or will the ambient sound be generated from the rear wall? I hope I am not to confusing.
  18. Well new day. First I would like to say that Mr. Klipsch-Daddy is VERY Rude. Everyone else has been extremely helpful I am very embarrassed. No one is suppose to touch my receiver sets and after tweeking, checking etc - I was using the balance conrol on the receiver to isolate front left/right etc and what do I behold. Someone, no one claims they did it so it must have been my dog Sheba, set the bass control to 9AM and the trebel control to 3PM. Turned them back to flat and wholla!! They sound excellent. Now concentrating on the Rears and I am posting another question on new post. Again that you all (except Klipsch-Daddy) for you assistance. I must add that most of us out hear are novices to HT and are thankful to most of you for your patience with us. We are not all HT geeks like Mr. Daddy and we are thankful to the vast majority who are willing to answer naive and redundent questions.
  19. Now, just to make sure I have bi-wired correctly: I run the leads from the receiver to the top binding posts +/-. The I run a very short lead connecting - to - and + to +. I'm not running two seperate lines from the speaker all the way to the receiver. I am going home now and trying to figure something out and I will report tomorrow. I will be checking my emails in case any other ideas are given Thanks to you all - God Bless
  20. I sorry I did it correctly. That eliminates one problem. I used to have the Quintet surround My room is 13'x13' Ceiling is 7' I am about 11' from RF-3s and 12.5' from RC-3. I can't come into the room anymore without blocking doorway. My wife is already peaved that I came out as far as I did. I have heard that the closer I get to the wall with these ported beasts the more bass I should hear howbeit not good bass. There doesn't seem to be much coming out from the port. I would think I would feel a little breeze at higher levels; not. I will check to see if I wired wrong; however, I do believe everything is in phase. + to + - to - etc. I will put the gold straps back on just in case. We shall see. I am really hoping I did something wrong as you can imagine.
  21. Thanks Bob, I will certainly give this a try. How about the other comment about the bridge with the metal piece vs the wire I installed?
  22. I truly hope you right; however, let me repeat that I have the posts bridged with heavy gauge speaker wire as I was advised to do on other threads? Black up to Black down same for the reds. If this is absolutely not correct then that probably is the problem.
