tell us more about the k-horns
looks like ramblin rose veneer
They are Ramblin Rose c1979. Not sure if you know how they are made, but I have read that it's made from sheets of birch and walnut that are dyed and reglued and radially cut to achieve that effect. Gotta be an expensive process. I've also read that there were only 25 pairs made with this veneer. The pic doesn't do them justice. They are hypnotic.

Hey man! It's my wtb thread. Wtf? PM sent as wellI’m selling my 1978 Klipschorns stock with AA crossovers, haven’t posted it yet. I’m also selling the Volti Upgrade package I used for years. It includes 1 pair of V-trac Horns with black cloth, and Midrange/Tweeter motorboards, 2 Beyma CP 25 tweeters, 2 BMS 4592ND-Mid 16 ohm drivers, 2 Crites 1526C woofers and all new wiring. $2200.00. I’ve sold on the forum before. Located in Southern Indiana. Willing to deliver if within reasonable driving distance. If interested let me know. Thanks, John

I get how they work and what they are for, I just wondered how you used them. So you never had them hooked up to see how they sound?
-
I have never seen these before. Very interesting. How did you implement them?

Are these still available?

Time to pour some life back into this thread. Very interesting read. I too have less than ideal corners where a piece of window trim prevents the tail board from sealing to the back wall by a couple inches. I don't think I need to go the whole false corner route. Can I get away with widening the tail board and top and bottom of the bass bin to meet the walls? Is that flare distance created by the wall critical or is the air seal the critical part? I'm thinking I might try making it with some modeling clay or moldable weather stripping.

I think those are Fred Finstones.

1986, Walnut Oiled. Mid driver is K-55m, AK2 XO. There is no grill for the tophat shown in the pictures.
Four bids, at $650 so far. Six days left, auction ends Wed just after 3p.
Were these still plywood in 1986? My Cornwalls are plywood built in 85 iirc.

I think my posts show I know exactly the types kings of their man caves- high art decorating with homo erotic college football Fatthead wall clings and color coordinating speaker fabric so dat grain just pops! Thanks for the props though. Feeling totally unscathed in this exchange, lol.I thought maybe he was in IS. Go data loss? Godata loss? The point is there is sometimes more than one way to look at the same thing. Must be a lesson in life there someplace.
What ever the avatar means, y'all are being mean to him, give him a break. He's new here so he doesn't know we're always right. [emoji14]

I believe I've run into a dude with poor taste and bad reading comprehension. You will find that as you navigate the internet and life in general really, people will question your opinions and point out flaws in them. Your immediate response should not be to try to manipulate their plainly written statements in order to try to save face I promise you that if those speakers were not half a world away from me, they would already be mine- grills and all. You seem like a last word at all costs kinda of guy, so I'll just leave it at that and let you make another machismo-salvaging salvo at your perceived financial superiority. It's adorable. It wasn't that long ago, so it's easy to remember what you said, but you might reread what you said
"Replacing those beautiful cane grills with black would be a travesty. The grills are almost half the value of those speakers."
You put a $400 value on them, I will put in the rest.
You've not ran into a den of anything except for a group of people who are only trying to help.
Also, you said that my opinion was absurd...I know, you used the word travesty, but synonymsously they mean the same. Pardon me your Grace, please forgive me if you're not as righteous as you sounded.
Anyhow, are we buying the speakers or not?

Lol, I can see I've run into the den of unquestionable authority. Clearly read again. I said I would not sell them for less. I sell furniture. I would not be a very good business man if I sold stuff for what I paid for it. I'll tell you what I will do- I'll swap you a pair of shiny black ones you hold so highly, you know so they "pop", lol.So, if I buy these, you will give me $400 for the grills? If so, Schu might hold / enjoy these for me and ship you the grills for $400 plus shipping. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. Are you in?
And, your Grace, you're the one who called me out when i shared that I think that the light colored wood would "pop" better with black grills.

You might try reading closer. I clearly said nearly half the value. He's asking $1000 so around $400. I would not sell them for less than that. I refinish and sell high end furniture. You also might try taking someone disagreeing with your opinion more gracefully. You sound as if you're speaking from experience, so I'll take your word of authority. You claiming the grills having equal value to the Cornwall speaker, you might try take someone's word in other matters.

I didn't say to toss them on a brush pile and set them on fire. Those grills would look better on Walnut cabinets....do you disagree with that too?
Not at all. Oiled Walnut is my favorite finish Replacing those grills with black, however, would be like putting vinyl siding on Fallingwater.

Not common, no longer available and simple suitable cane to make copies is $$$. Those grills will continue to appreciate in value. Not really, but Cornwall cane are certainly not common.
