  1. HEY EVERYONE..LaScala Dano here !! A customer just called our store and is wanting to sell his K Horns. They are Mid/Late 80s. Oiled Walunt/Black Grilles. He lives in Mississippi -near Jackson. He is moving very soon and is looking for a "easy" sale. He doesnt do Ebay so was gonna try his local paper. But I thought some lucky guy/ gal here may be interested. He wanted $1000 EACH but would probably go lower (like 1600-1700 pr) if someone would offer it. He says they are " absolutely Showroom Perfect!! ". He doesnt have boxes and wants them to be picked up. He's gonna email me PICS tommorrow and I will gladly send them to anyone interested. I told him to take shots of the labels (top and bottom)and get me ALL the info he could. Lemme know if you are interested.DAMN..I WISH I HAD THE DOUGH !!!! 2. Do you guys know about esnipe?? www.esnipe.com bids on your behalf at the very last second. kinda like proxy bidding but you can always cancel your bid ( if it hasnt posted yet )..works great !! saved me lots and lots of money !! try it !! its free for the 1st 2 weeks
  3. I'll keep them..I'm always flip floppin' anyway. I sell Martin Logan, Thiel, and B&W during the day. But when I get home- I wanna rock ..but sometimes I miss the imaging I get from the B&Ws so ,for now, they are in storage again. I'll hold onto them ..I really do like them as well- they just arent KLIPSCH !!!
  4. IndyKlipschFan, I sure didnt mean to create any bad vibes out there. I received several emails and responded to everyone. Not sure what happened if we never spoke but sorry. I REALLY was planning on selling them. But when I straightened out the phase and she heard them..Well.you must understand. I BOUGHT them cause i wanted them !! I wasnt using any BS tactics and think of myself as a straight foward business man ( hence my 350+ feddback on ebay ). I'm really glad that I'll be keepin these but, at the same time, sorry if you felt like you were entitles to something you didnt get.. No hard feelings..how 'bout a big hug ??
  5. HELLO..WELL,I WAS confused but not anymore !! Basically, I started at the HF terminal of each cabinet. I simply traced the cables and corrected any phase reversal that had happened when some schmuck went inside to "repair" something. They are bone stock so I'm not sure what he did or WHY. But in the end it was 1 of the large horns and 1 tweeter that were out. So, you can imagine how that would mess w/ things. I will do some room traement- at least some object and angles to break the waves/ reflections. I also will probably take home a sub from work. We just had 2 velodyne ULD-15s traded in. If anyone is interested in the other- lemme know and I'll get in touch. They are too big to ship w/out the orig. boxes but they are awesome subs !!.......Anyway- thanks for everyone's encouragement to stay w/ these monsters and work it out- I'm really glad I did. Pretty exciting speaker- also pretty different than than B&W matrix 802s I'm used too !! But nothing I've heard produces the transients w/ such unrestrained dynamics !! Pretty cool..NOW I just make them "look" good !!
  6. these are no longer for sale sorry..thanks for looking
  7. WELL, WELL, WELL.... I was givin the LaScalas a final farewell jam and my wife came down to listen. She had never heard them IN PHASE and pretty much freaked out. She was like " You cant sell these things !! Crank it up !! " --she was dancin around the room like at a club. She ran upstairs to grab some of her favorites and , needless to say, "we" are keeping them !!. I may do a few things to tame down the horns in my giant square concrete basement to kinda "tune" the room alittle but they won her heart when she actually listened to them..So there ya go !!!I guess I am a LaScala owner after all !! "what a long strange trip it's been "
  8. In case you never saw my thread on the 2 channel page. I found a pair of 1982 LaScala s for $350 plus tax. Got them home and they are just not working in my room w/ my stuff. So I'm selling them for what I paid..$350 plus tax = $375. You gotta pick em up in Nashville, TN. Email me directly at Sparkledrive1@aol.com and I'll send you pics
  9. Our fellow forum attendee- Dave Goodrum - came by our store today and picked up a Velodyne sub for his LaScalas. He also encouraged me to "tinker" w/ mine and I was able to fix my phase problems !! THANKS DAVE!!! They now sound great and "in phase" (AAhhhh )but my basement is SO live and I'm a newbie to horns ( I've had B&Ws for 7 years ) that it's still TOO much for me. So if anyone wants a pair of WORKING and phase correct LaScalas- give me an "e" directly at Sparkledrive1@aol.com...Cheerio

  11. Basically, I am just way too impatient and NOT AT ALL a "tinkerer". So somebody buy these..$350 a pair !!!
  12. OK GUYS..HERE'S THE DEAL. Those LaScala's I got for $350 a pair- I'm selling them. Gotta them hooked up and : A) My wife HATES the "P.A." look of them My wife HATES the "flat black paint job" C) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY..........I got frustrated fast by the hook up situation. These are the "pro" models that need "jumpers" or bi-wiring and something --and something is going on w/ phasing. Either the horns, tweets, or woofs are out of phase w/ each or halfway or something. On their own- each sounds good. But together ,there is something hooked up weird. And because I am not a wiring expert ( or even a novice ) and am incredibly impatient AND the fact that my wife is so NOT digiin their look and size...dig?? They are UP FOR GRABS. I paid $350 plus tax..so the 1st $375 offer or better CAN COME PICK THEM UP..I cant ship them --But if you know what youre doing and want a pair of classic LaScala's CHEAP..$375 will get you them. THESE ARENT BLOWN !! I just need "easy" in my life right now so maybe a pair of cornwalls or another pair of chorus'... INTERESTED?? Please email me ( Dan )DIRECTLY at Sparkledrive1@aol.com $375--COME GET EM!!
  13. WELL..I GOT EM !! ACTUALLY..I went back to "investigate" and ending up walking out the door w/ a PAIR for $350 !!! The 3rd had a Peavey horn. Two were fine w/ original parts, consecutive serial #s, and made in '82. They kinda looked crappy- all painted white(w/ a brush !!) ,over blue, over red. Anyway...so they were telling me "You dont want these ol' things!!" but I made them take em apart to see the drivers and then hook em up. They sounded great - even a crappy ol' power amp. They were kinda surprised but wanted to show me "what I really should get " ( a pair of bag end monitor. ) They were shocked to see the Ugly Klipsch sounded WAY bigger and WAY better and all for $175 each !! So....I TOOK EM !!! Hooked up to my stuff at home..OH YEAH !!!! So..Mallet..there is one left but its ugly and the horn is peavey. BUT ,I bet it can be had for $150 if anyone's interested. Mallet- you DO have 1st dibs. Email me directly at Sparkledrive1@aol.com and I'll hook you up. Otherwise I can post the store's info here.. Now for that SET amp !!! This IS an addiction- we are all admitting it ,right ?? This message has been edited by DANOCASTER on 07-25-2002 at 09:52 PM
  14. OK..THANKS GUYS..i'LL GO GET EM AND LET YA KNOW..MALLET, I MAY ONLY WANT 2 SO IF THAT'S THE CASE I'LL LET YA KNOW !!!
  15. ok folks...I just lost a pair of belles for $900. But i just found locally 3 LaScalas at $199 each and can probably get all three for $500. They are painted white and done so pretty sloppily but a little black paint and elbow grease and they could look pretty good. These have built in handles on the top/side.Is that normal ?? Am I right in thinking that $199 is a great price even if they are a "little" rough. ** What component, etc do I need to look for ? Are some better than others ..Please let me know asap - as these are on 24 hr HOLD for me !! Thanks !!
  16. I guess i should've run. i walked and they were being sold as i got there. $950 in their original boxes !! *$#*&@& !!!!!!!
  17. I currently have Chorus 1s (driven by a Musical Fidelity A300 integrated amp w/ a REGA P3/shure V15 combo ). The opportunity has come up to purchase a pair of nice Belle Klipsch for $900. Do you think this would be a BIG improvement ?? How so?? THANKS This message has been edited by DANOCASTER on 06-17-2002 at 12:57 AM
  18. The $600-800 is hopefully for pre/pwr amp or an integrated amp..my tastes are mostly pop/rock stuff and not real "heavy"- a fair amount of 70's classic rock and modern radiohead-type stuff. i want to enjoy w/out tweaking too much but really do believe in nos tubes b/c of my experience w/ my vinatge guiatr amps and mic pre's..so 6-800 bucks w/out cables or tube upgrades..got any ideas?? the money is actually burning a hole in my pocket !!
  19. I WAS GONNA GET THE JOLIDE 502 BUT MOBILE'S COMMENTS "JARRED" ME ENUFF TO QUESTION IT..I'VE NEVER HEARD THEM AND THOUGHT I COULDNT AFFORD SEPERATES UNLESS I BUILT THEM..DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN GET THE WAVES 8 PREBUILT?? I LOOKED AROUND ON THE SITE AND COULDNT FIND IT OR MISSED IT SOMEHOW..I DONT HAVE THE TIME OR THE KNOW-HOW TO BUILD A KIT BUT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THESE WAVES IF THEY COULD DRIVE MY CHORUS 1s TO PRETTY EXCITING LEVELS IN MY 16X16 ROOM..IDEAS??
  20. mobile....thanks for your concern and NO, i havent heard the amp..no place i know of can offer one to me.. i basically just bought Chorus 1s and want to have some kinda tube front end to soften things up and give me some "magic"..I'm kinda low on dough and an integrated amp seems like an easy thing..My sources will be a Rega Planet and a Planar 3/shure v15 thru a rega FONO..just getting this all together and have everything but the amp..will the lil' 6BQ5 Jolinda drive my choruses to LOUD levels in a 16x13 room?? that is why i moved up to the 502- and the reviews at audioreview were gushing about the 502..but I want something as "sweet" and " magical" as possible- but I am impatient and want something soon... i got 600-800 "bones" to spend and will want nice tubes ( but I'm a new sensor dealer and can get the tubes at cost)..I would GREATLY appreciate your reccomendation in that price range
  21. If anyone knows of a reasonably priced Jolida 502- please let me know..there are several on audiogon but NO-ONE has responded to emails. I'm guessing they have sold them and just are sicking of replying..i duuno..but if you know to pick one up,..PLEASE lemme know.. ALSO...I may run a small Velodyne sub w/ this-- any thoughts on how to do that if i find one WITHOUT the sub out ?? I will using Multiple sources
  22. I'VE GOT A FRIEND SELLING HIS FORTE IIs IN BLACK W/ ALL ORIG PACKAGING, ETC..IN REAL NICE CONDITION FOR $750 OBO..YOU COULD PICK THEM UP IN NASHVILLE OR THESE DO SHIP UPS IN THEIR BOXES..PLEASE LEMME KNOW- SOON THEY'LL JUST GO TO EBAY IF I GET NO TAKERS BUT MY CAMERA'S DOWN AND EBAY W/ NO CAMERA DOESNT WORK..IF YOU ARE VERY SERIOUS I CAN TRY AND GET PICS BUT THEY MAY SELL BEFORE PICS ARE TAKEN
  23. JUST GOT A PAIR OF CHORUS 1s AND WANT TO GET A SINGLE ENDED TUBE AMP TO DRIVE THESE- PREFERABLY AN INTEGRATED BUT I'D DO SEPERATES IF THEY WERENT TOO EXPENSIVE..ANY IDEAS ?? THIS SITE IS SO HELPFUL--AND ADDICTING !!
  24. THANKS GUYS!! I WENT AHEAD AND GOT THE CHORUS 1s FOR $700 DELIVERED IN GREAT SHAPE. THE KLIPSCH SALESMAN DIDNT KNOW WHAT HE WAS SAYING..THE BASS ON THE CHORUS IS THERE FOR SURE !!- NOT SUPER LOW BUT I WOULDNT HAVE SAID WHAT HE DID !! I HAVE A VELODYNE SUB I COULD USE FOR THAT LOWER OCTAVE ANYWAY. THESE WILL SUFFICE TILL I CAN FIND A PAIR OF "LOCAL" CORNWALLS..THANKS EVERYONE-- NOW FOR A S.E.T. TUBE AMP !~!
  25. well..i'm about to buy a pair of chorus 1's "locally" but have been unable to hear them so I went to a hifi shop and heard the new RF7s and was less than impressed. they were set up in corners and were both firing into glass furniture stands - driven by a 100 watt Integra HT rcvr- but they were not what i was hoping for in my chorus 1's. The salesman said they were very similiar but the choruses would have less bass. "that was the problem w/ chorus 1s- they have no bass" he said..IS THAT TRUE ?? with 15" woofers ??? I am also considering cornwalls but the size/ PRICE of the chorus 1s fits better now..MY QUESTION IS THIS...I want a big sound and a "lean" sound will only "blow my high" - will the Chorus 1 even do it- or do i need to pass go and go straight to cornwalls?? please help oh wise ones
