  1. Bear with me...I am a newbie compared to many of you "salty veterans" - so this may be "the stupid question." I have a Harman Kardon AVR7000 hooked up to a LF10 sub. The sub cable leaves my AVR7000 through the one and only sub-out and is connected to the LF10 with a y-adapter to the line-in (L&R) jacks. The AVR7000 DOES have the sub set to "on" and front, center and rears set to "small." With this configuration, the LF10 doesn't automatically "turn on" with the power set in the auto position and a signal being fed to it. Rather, I have to turn the power to "on" and then it works fine. What am I doing wrong?! Is it in my set-up, or is the sub not working correctly? Please advise. Thank you in advance.
  2. Horn Ed, Here is where I just got mine. I checked out this vendors ratings on Audio Survey, Bizrate, Gomez and they were very highly rated. Mine came in 3 days, perfectly shipped. Couldn't be more pleased with OneCall's service. Hope this helps! http://ww3.onecall.com/PID_12928.htm (this link should take you straight to the C-7 - if it doesn't, type in Klipsch in the search box)
  3. I'm new, so I don't know all the conventions of the Forum board. So, if I am posting the wrong kind of question - please forgive me! Here's my question... I hooked up my DTS ready DVD player to my Harman Kardon AVR 7000 DTS ready receiver and get NO AUDIO. The DVD player is hooked up via a S cable for video and optical cable for audio. All other modes deliver audio from the DVD player, so it's not a "hook-up" question. I am bewildered. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
  4. The Ear, I believe you in your response to just use the LFE... but I am just curious as to why, or phrased another way...what's the difference between the two? Thanks.
  5. Thanks. The LF-10 manual is available on this website. I downloaded the .pdf file. If you have a problem finding it, send me an e-mail. It was under the "Classic" speakers under home audio.
  6. Craig, Two questions: First, I can't do both, or shouldn't? Second, if I hook it up with the LFE only, can I tell my receiver to play "2-Channel Stereo" and it will still utilize the sub? Thanks. Joe
  7. So I opened the boxes last night...brand new Klipsch LF10 and Harman Kardon AVR 7000. I read my Klipsch manual and it appears I am suppose to run BOTH an LFE line and wire my KLF10's (fronts) through my subwoofer. Then, I read the HK (receiver) manual and it tells me to just run the LFE line - no mention of running my speakers through my sub. I am new at this HT setup stuff - always just listened to two-channel without a sub. So, I am embarrassed to have to ask - what do I do? How do I hook up my sub? No teasing me here okay? Just need some "sound" advice from those that know best. Thanks in advance for your help!

  9. I too looked at the Polk vs. Klipsch. Two things became apparent to me comparing them. First, the Polk couldn't handle "LOUD" well - I do mean loud too - they melted down before my eyes. Second, and more important, played side by side the Klipsch sounded MUCH BETTER. Obviously, I bought the Klipsch, and am very glad I did. Good Luck.
  10. Hey - Thank you! This looks like a very interesting site - one I had not seen. I will read it and experiment. Thanks for the link!
  11. (I posted this originially as a 'new post' - I meant to add it to this string as a "reply" - forgive me for reposting it - you can tell I am new!) Sonic Nirvana.... Ahhhhhhh... Thank you all for your kind "welcome comments" - you guys seem like a great group! I'll be sure to keep coming back to the board. To the question of the KLF C-7 - I got it at www.onecall.com for $325-ish plus shipping - came out to like $350 or so with shipping. They are new, and just have black left. I felt lucky to be able to find it. I haven't even started tweaking the position as the "install" guys come tomorrow for the rears and to move the DISH jack. After I get it all repositioned, I will begin tweaking the position. But, having never dome that, where do I go for helpful hints on how to begin repositioning - or is it just a trial and error thing? Once again, thanks for all the welcomes - I do appreciate it.

  13. I just came home a few hours ago with my first Klipsch - KLF-10s (still managed to find a pair - last ones too). Also, bought a KLF C-7 center, RS3's for rears, and an LF-10 sub. Great prices on everything too - KLF10s for $600, KLFC7 for $327, RS3s for $320, and the LF10 for $469 - a total of $1716! What a treat! Like hearing everything for the first time. I am sure a longer post will be upcoming soon, but for now just wanted to let you all know that I did it! Now, I need everyone's congrats, kudos, welcome, etc.!!! I probably, like many of you, just started a new addiction. Soon I will be upgrading, and upgrading, etc... This message has been edited by BHZ Boy on 03-05-2002 at 10:42 AM
  14. Phil, Frankly your answer confuses me more. You seem to drag internet merchants as a whole as "people working out of the back of a van," yet you know as do I that many are out there who have been in legitimate business for years. I don't mean to go the other way and throw all the internet merchants into a "great company" category, but you seem to be relying more on scaring me the customer over the integrity of the internet merchant as opposed to my real concern as to whether you will honor the Klipsch warranty or not. Clearly, a removed or altered serial number knocks the warranty out of the box. But, would you please address the situation whereby I buy (via internet) Klipsch speakers with the "real" serial numbers still on. Will you honor it? I have called and e-mailed your site. I have gotten the following answers as to who is Klipsch authorized internet dealers: 1 - Just UBID, then next time I was told... 2 - UBID and TWEETER@OUTPOST, then... 3 - Just Vanns, WOLOP and YAWA, then... 4 - Kiefs. You get the idea... I truly can't discern what the REAL answer is. Is the bottom line whether or not it has a Klipsch serial number on it or not? I look forward to your reply.
  15. I think tonights the night, and I become a Klipsch owner! But, my indecision is taking over... Do I spend up for RF5s or RF7s, or stay with RF3s? Also, I need the center and rears, so stepping up to the RF7s presumably means stepping up to the RC7 from the RC3, and to the RS7s from the RS3s. Any advice from all you Klipsch "savants" is more appreciated than you would think. Reply away if you have any "IMHO"...
