  1. I Thank all fellow Klipschters for there support & input, (Input worth the missing 100 watts) I have decided to contact the Klipsch monitor on this issue. Soon we will (should) have this mystery solved.
  2. Hello, I am the proud owner of a newly purchased, complete Klipsch RF-7,RS-7 and RC-7 speaker package. Purchased from a local authorized Klipsch dealer, who advised me to contact Klipsch. I have positively ID the speakers as RF-7s. Meaning they are not RF-5s or RF-3s, but RF-7s. My question is; The Klipsch factory sticker stuck to the back of the upper right hand cornner of BOTH speakers state the following information: RF7 BLACK S/N RF7 BLK 01360673 max input pwr 150 watts Every other RF-7 speaker I have seen or read about reads, max input pwr 250 watts Why do mine say 150 watts? yet are clearly marked RF-7s Thanks
  3. Thanks GeorgeC and the rest of you Klipschters. I think I'll post for the monitor in the house on this one. Like BobG or one of the others.
  4. Yes, I do feel better. Everyone check their stickers and report back. HA ha haaaaaaa. Thanks
  5. No doubt these are Klipsch RF-7s, two 10 inch woofers...plus have seen the RF-5s. All that remains a mystery is the Klipsch factory sticker stating max input pwr 150 watts. I was wondering if Klipsch may have reworked the specs on the RF-7s or something???
  6. Thought I would say the asking price for the pair was 2,000.00 but I paid 1,582.00 plus tax. I was given a good price for the confusion I encountered while putting the system together. That would be another story. This low price and the difficulty made me even more suspicious of the possible miss printed max input pwr 150 watts.
  7. Thanks Deang, for checking out your RFs. Naturally I feel better knowing that someone elses speakers match mine. What do you make of this? I looked on my Klipsch RF-7 speaker box and stamped in ink is a date of Oct 9 2001. A production date maybe. I bought mine from a local Klipsch dealer, they say not to worry. But I am. Ha! But this does not make sense I would like mine to read 250 watts. My stickers say on both speakers; RF7 BLACK S/N RF7: 01360673 max input pwr 150 watts
  8. The local Klipsch dealer, says as LynnM suggested, for me not to sweat it. For the amount of money I think I should be sure. TheEar, it is confusing and I admit I know almost zero about audio, but I'm sure I can read the sticker. The local dealer did match the lowest internet price, so may be they sold me refurbished or B grade speakers as new. Because as far as I could tell these speakers were unopened and new in the box. Maybe Klipsch has rated them differently. A possible date of production ink stamped on the box is Oct.9, 2001. I have emailed Klipscsh but who knows when I may hear back. On both speaker stickers, say the following RF7 BLACK S/N RF7BK impedence 8 ohms max input pwr 150 watts
  9. Marathon Man All the RF-7s I have seens so far, their stickers all say max input pwr 250 watts. Yet on the set of RF-7s I have my sticker says max input pwr 150 watts. I am talking about ans comparing the stated max input pwr only. As this is the only spec given on the back of the RF-7s on the factory sticker. Maybe some of the other memners who have recently purchased RF-7s could take a quick look on the back of there speakers and see what watts their Klipsch factory stickers say?
  10. First I'd like to Thank all of those who have responded to my past post. As some know I have recently purchased a complete RF-7, RS-7 and RC-7 powered by Yamahas RX-V3000. As I know zero about audio I can appreciate this forum and its members. On a set of newly purchased, new in the box Klipsch RF-7s speakers there is a factory sticker stuck to the back upper right hand corrner. On the RF-7s I have the sticker says max input pwr 150 watts. Yet on all the spec I have read and every other RF-7 speakers I have looked, all say max input pwr 250 watts. I was wondering why there would be two different rating for the same speaker? Is there different levels or grades, or worse refurbished? The local Klipsch dealer says not to worry?
  11. On the back of my newly purchased Klipsch RF-7s there is a Klipsch factory sticker. This Klipsch factory sticker is stuck on the back of the speaker, located on the top right hand cornner. As some of the members here may already know I have reletively zero knowledge of audio, yet have recently purchased a New in the box, complete RF-7 speaker system. Some of the members have responded to past questions, who I'd like to Thanks at this time. Thank You all for responding and help. My most recent concern now is the factory sticker on the back of my RF-7s. The sticker says max input pwr 150 Watts. All the information on specs I have read, all say 250 max watts. As well as other RF-7s speaker I have looked at, their stickers all say 250 max watts. Yet mine say 150 watts. Should I be concerned that these RF-7s are some how inferior, miss printed or worse some type of refurbished speaker? This sticker states: s/n 01360673 max input pwr: 150 watts On all the RF-7 speakers I have looked at say: max input pwr: 250 watts Are there different levels or grades of the RF-7s? How can one say 150 watts and others sat 250 watts?? As this is seems like a huge diference
  12. Thanks for responding LynnM, and for the complement on the RF-7 system. I forked out so large doe out of frustration, tired of returns, trying to put together a nice HT and musical set up. I can asure you, as a rule I do my homework before making such a major purchase. This perticular situation is a fluke. As are all those repeat post. I wasn't sure if they were posting, so I reposted, as I was conversing with Boa, he lives close by in the same city as myself. I was looking for someone who knows systems and enjoys music and movies, played on quality equipment. bla bla bla. Any information you care to share would be accepted. As I know very little. After listening to the RF-7s for 2 weeks now, they are very nice. The ALtecs despite their age, are only shades behind the RF-7s in sound. Very light shades, but the RF-7s are still better, brighter I'd say & a bit clearer. The Yamaha RX-V3000 was part of the managements compensation fro my trouble, upgrade me from a RX-V1200 to the RX-V3000 for a $100.00 difference. So I figured I find out later how good the 3000 really was. A as we see I finding out all this after the fact. I enjoy the hard metal rock as well as jazz. Most speakers will play jazz quite well with little effort. But the hard banging rock seems to get muddied up. I guess hard drivin rock is recorded messy??? I keep hearing about these Khorns are these better than the RF-7s? Never heard of them. At any rate I will continue to gather data and visit the forum & give my .02 Thanks
  13. Thanks for all your responses. Using this BB for a dumpping ground was not the purpose. Getting information and positive feed back was. I was just looking for someone to say hey you got your self one hell of a system. As know zero about audio. Which is the reason for visiting and posting. I have no problem excepting responsiblity for not doing a better job researching, before speaker shopping. Some of the speakers the saleman sent me home with I knew wouldn't work. But he insisted I take them home, that if they didn't work simply bring them back and we will exchange them for different ones. Exchange we did. (ha! smiling) I chose to blindly cooperate with, and do exactly what the sales rep suggested. As it turned out in the end, this saleman was more knowledgable with video sales and new to audio sales. This is why after speaking with upper management a significant discount was awarded in my favor. As I stated it's all good now. Just trying to find out after the fact how good? Runnig and operating a construction company leaves me with limited free time. The time needed to put forth the effort to go around to all the audio stores I was hopping to not have to do. As a result of skipping steps and taking short cuts my decisions were based on the salemens advice. The consequences for skipping steps almost always results in an inferior out come. Maybe this story will benifit another to take your time, shop around. If my venting has caused you, (specifically little linnie), mental anguish, loss of sleep or to go kick the cat, my sense of grief is well, a reflection of yours for me ol boy.
  14. But the speakers sound nice finally. This message has been edited by Vonrebel on 03-10-2002 at 09:01 PM
  15. Hey Boa, Small world. Olathe for me. Just put together a complete Klipsch RF-7 system, at least I think it is complete. Looking into the RSW 15 & possible amp. RF-7 RC-7 RS-7 Velodyne VLF 1012 sub Yamahas RX-V3000 100 watts x 100 Sony DVD Technics CD

  17. Still not quite clear. Could someone once again help clarify this term Loud speaker... The term Loud speaker, (any speaker); For instance polk, infinity, boston, or JBL.... are considered loud speakers??? There is nothing, (no diferences) that separates a speaker, from a speaker marketed to be a loud speaker???? There are Speakers? and Then there are Loud Speakers? If there a difference between the two terms, what might the differences be? Based on the responses received on my last posting, (refferencing this question) there may be no difference between the two terms? Thanks
  18. I Keep hearing the RF-7s called or referred to as loud speakers. What is a loud speaker? Meaning why or what makes a speaker a loud speaker? (Other than turning up the volume. If a speakers is not called a loud speaker, what else would it be called? & Why? Louder is better. Without sacrificing claridy and clean BASS. GO KLIPSCH
  19. Thanks to you all, The info from you all it greatly appreciated. I was very pleased to read the Yamaha RX-V3000 receiver will deliver. Also that the RF-7s are spoke of with such high respect. For me they sound great, I like good bass as well as clarity. It's work putting together a system. I figured separates might be the next step up, as well as purchasing a bigger sub would proof to be a benifit. Since just recently purchasing the RF-7 package , along with the receiver, not surprising I am and will be pennyless for a while. BUT I HAVE GOOD KLIPSCH SPEAKERS!!! and RECEIVER. and will enjoy every note. Hey, can Anybody spare some loose change?????? $$$$ ha ha haaa hee hee heeee. Yamaha RX-V3000 100watts x 6 KLIPSCH RF-7S KLIPSCH RS-7S KLIPSCH RC-7 VELODYNE VLF 1012 DVD SONY DVP-NS400D CD TECHNICS SL-PG300 and my old Altec A-7s, which can easily keep up with the RF-7s but lack a tid bit of clarity.
  20. Are the Klipsch RF-7s considered to be the best speakers Klipsch produces? And Is the Yamaha RX-V3000 100watts x 6 enough power for the RF-7s and the RC-7 & RS-7s??
  21. I went through a simalar situation, had the complete RC-3II package. Wanting more bass, upgraded the mains only to the RF-7s. For me the RC-3II and the RS-3IIs were not close enough to the output of the RF-7s. Ended up going back and buying the RC-7 and RS-7s, it was a big expense but worth every cent. However I could get the RC-3II and RS-3IIs close to the RF-7s for some peoples ears, by going into the receivers menu and reducing the output of the mains and turning up the volume on the center and rear speakers. If not for this option there would be no chance, zero, of the RF-7's and the RC,RS-3II matching up. If I would not of had the extra money I would have kept the RC-3II and the RS-3IIs until I could afford to upgrade to the RC-7 and the RS-7s. I agree, if you spend the money to upgrade I would go ahead and get the big boys, buy RF-7s. You will be happy with them. I'm very happy with mine. I found out shopping for speakers is hard work. Just because like them, you be the judge.
  22. So is my receiver large enough to drive the RF-7s and the RC-7,RS-7???????? HAVE TO say the RF-7 produce music exceptionally clean, clear and detailed. Very pleasing to the ears, recomending them without pause. The RF-7 package set up is worth every cent. Sounds as though I am getting soild bass from the RF-7's and in order to get more bass, change the CD to one with more recorded bass or add a bigger sub. hummmm? I am broke now, no money left. So the bigger sub will have to wait. Ha ha haa Guess I'll buy a different CD's for now.
  23. Greeting to you all. Are Klipsch RF-7s, RS-7s,and RC-7 considered to be the very best speakers from Klipsch? Are Klipsch speakers designed to play jazz v/s rock? I had the RF-3II package and could not get good base at any level, not even loud volumes, So upgraded to the RF-7s. Really I would expect for the money the RF-7s would knock you back in your seat with bass. But this is not the case. The RF-7s play jazz sweet, but rock? The RF-7s are loud but where's the BASS? Would a better sub, like the RSW15 be worth the money? The RS-3II and the RC-3II speakers would have probably been an so so match for the RF-7s. But only after many adjusting through the receiver. Would the KLF been a better choice for good bass? Maybe it something to do with the receiver Will the Yamaha RX-V3000 be sufficient power to deliver the full potential for the following speakers? All Monster wire, speakers, sub and AV cables Yamaha RX-V3000 100 watts x 6 Klipsch RF-7 Klipsch RS-7 Klipsch RC-7 Velodyne LVF-1012 sub
