I have been listening to Golden Ear Triton towers and like how smooth and pleasing they sound.  Norah Jones first album can have some piercing moments which are tamed on The Tritons.   Prior I had heard Salk Towers with a similar ribbon tweeter and layed  back sound.

Prior to that I was impressed with KEF Ref 5 and a traditional tower speaker from mlb which I really liked but found both 2x more expensive than I wanted to pay.

When i was in the market for a new set of speakers, this local audio shop raved about the Golden Ear Tritons.  I really didn't want another set of tall slender towers so i didn't give it a listen.  FYI, I ended up with the Forte III.

How would you compare the GE Tritons to Klipschs?

  3. I have the RP260 and Forte III and no doubt, the Forte III's are better in every way.  Of course, if they weren't, I wouldn't have spent the money on them.  That being said, the RP series is no slouch for it's price.  It's very neutral sounding and non-fatiguing for long listening sessions.  Although, the neutral-ness can sometimes seem "muffled".    I seem to have fixed this issue when I added a power amp.  That improved the clarity and sound stage quite a bit.  I have decommissioned my RP's and run the Fortes full time for music and theater.  So far, i'm liking it!

Is your popping in both channels?  Before you make new cables try swapping your cables and see if you hear any difference.

I really don't think it's your cables, but when trouble shooting try to simplify your gear and change one variable at a time.  Swapping cables is a cheap and easy place to start.

Liking your approach to problem solving.  The difficult part is trying to force the issue.  I can't make the popping sound come back when i want it.  It's really random.

No popping sounds heard for my year-old 6011 used for TV watching in the living room a few hours every day.  Hooked up through an HDMI cable box for TV watching and HDMI through a Sony Bluray player which is how I get internet to the TV.

Speakers are in 3.0 RF-83 and RC-64.  Everything is 100% reliable and quiet, no unusual noises.

How are your interconnect cables?  Believe it or not I have had cables go bad.

Glad your set up is working well for you.

My interconnect cables aren't new, but i can make new ones if that's what it takes.

  6. Have any of you experienced cracking/popping sound from your receiver?  This happens occasionally when I stream cable tv using my Time Warner Cable app from my TV.  When cracking/popping noise happens, I cannot control the volume from the AVR.  I resort to turning off and on the AVR to resuming listening.  I am listening at low/medium volume level.

    My set up is below:

    Marantz SR-6011 AVR

    Rotel RMB-1585  Amplifier

    Klipsch Forte III

    Klipsch KLF-C7 Center

    Klipsch RS-42II Surrounds.

  7. I've been a happy Marantz + Klipsch owner for multiple sets throughout the years.  However, on my most recent set up, my SR-6011 + Forte III's have been making a popping/cracking sound when I stream cable tv.  I will start another thread regarding this so we don't veer off topic.

FAIA, I've noticed better sound clarity and detail when i added my Rotel RMB-1585 amp.

  8. Caution Caution!  I hope i am not too late. This is a scam!  I encountered this person when i posted a reply to a KLF-C7 center channel on AVS Forum Sale Section.  This person PM'ed me on the side and said he has a "friend" that's selling this speaker.  The email this scammer use is kentrinvoll@gmail.com.  Name of person: Katherine Stovall.  She supposedly works at Walmart and can only accepts payments via Walmart Pay Services.  I requested to pay via Paypal and she asked me to provide my driver's license.  HECK NO.  Paypal has already verified both her and I (if she is even a legitimate person).    Scary part is that this, Katherine, person is trolling across all Audio/Video forums offering the speakers at market value.   They play out the story well and make it believable.  I hope nobody on here falls victim to this scam artist.  Figured i'd give my experience to hopefully prevent people from throwing their hard-earned money to this scum.

Between the two Forte III there is the space for a JBL PARAGON instead of that piece of furniture .... :)  :)  :)

Cool looking room, really like the cabinet, never seen one like that before.

IMO center the forte's with the windows slightly angled in, it will spread them out a little more and might look better, maby ?

Liking them so far? Those grills are nice looking.

    Welcome

Thx Dtel.  So far so good!  Very crisp and detailed. I just tried to upload a pic of the speakers angled-in and spreaded out a bit, but this forum platform isn't allowing over 2mb.

Very nice, matches your room well....congrats.

    How do they sound?

Thx!  So far I've been listening for a few hours.  My initial impression is that the highs and mids are much more prominent than my RP-260's.  The highs are ever so slightly on the bright side, but i am anticipating these babies to sound warmer up as i break them in.
