  1. Not mine but I did go check these out today:
    https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ele/d/klipsch-cf-3-oak-perfect-shape/6717545665.html

When I originally emailed the seller, he wasn't really interested in sending me a picture of the tag on the back and he had no clue if they were version 1,2 or 3 so I knew I had to lay eyes on them to determine which version.

    1. They most definitely are version 3. Short port tubes, black horns, colored wiring and a serial number from late 1995

    2. They're in amazing condition. Edges of the cabinets are sharp, grilles are near-perfect, sequential serial numbers, very nice examples.

    3. He's pretty firm on his price but I think he's open to offers that are close to his asking price.

    4. Super nice guy and he's got some quality gear that you can listen to them on.

What is your impression of the bass between the models? I have read mixed reports on the bass from the CF4's.

Tightness of kick drums on the version 1 was better than version 3. That could be from the difference in the cone material or the difference between the 10" and 12" attack.

I have 5 CF4 actually. Found a lone wolf v3 at the Pilgrimage this year. The idea is to make a surround setup with them. But the more I think about it the more I realize I may need alternatives for the back side for space reasons. May end up trying to pick up a bunch of KV4 or something possibly

Nice, another MN Epic owner. Let me know if you're willing to sell the single CF3 or a pair of the V1 CF3's. I also have stuff I'd trade (KG 5.5, Krell, Denon BD...) if trades are more your thing.

Sounds like we're building similar setups. I currently have two pairs of the CF3 V1; trying to do a 5.1 or 6.1 setup with Epics all around.

  4. Recently had a pair of CF4 V3 side by side with my CF3 V1 and I can say that though the differences are there, they're very minimal; some of which can be attributed to the 10" versus 12" woofers. It was a tough decision to sell the CF4 V3's because they absolutely smoked a couple of the other speakers in my collection but I can't keep them all.

  5. I sold a pair of really nice KLF-20's a while ago. They sat for a bit with nobody interested. Mine were Medium Oak finish so maybe it was the color? They finally sold for $580 - a bargain for the buyer if you ask me.

My personal opinion is that if he's asking $700, they had better be in immaculate condition or have some flexibility on the price.
