  1. Sweet. I'm currently rocking a set of Quintets for my garage system. Still rocking the original ProMedias on my PC though. I've had to replace a couple foam surrounds and the volume switch is scratchy but for 25ish years of rocking I'm not complaining.
  2. well it's nice to see you have at least upgraded your monitor(s). lol
  3. finally got my replacement drivers. felt like 2 years, not 2 months. didn't realize how much i would miss my system till it was gone. headphones only work for so long. [] 2 drivers under 60 usd shipped to the door. luckily the 2.1 drivers are the same as the old 4.1's, just needed two instead of one. now to only have the control to break them in properly.[6]
  4. the yellow chesse is just glue that helps hold the caps in place. usaully when caps blow the top will be bulged or even missing with a clear substance leaking.
  5. yea i've been addicted to them for about 6 month's now. i kinda get funny looks being a 41 year old bumping antwoord. [:S] i should of known better about the bass they throw as i blew my sub in my truck last fall listening to that album. i guess some people just don't learn. [A]
  6. i think i won the oldest set. now where's my prize? perhaps a set of the infamous hofy duct tape mounts? lol but unfortunately i just blew the foam surrounds off my sub-woofers. first repair i've ever had to make, and i've beat the snot out of these things for 12 years now. i'm starting to think they may bury me with these things.
  7. lol, you should get a cut everytime that pic was used! on a sadder note, die antwoord finally blew the foam surrounds off my sub's woofers. now i got to make my mind up to refoam or replace with 2.1 woofers.
  8. AHHH man i missed the party. another year has passed and these things still rock. i think this may be the best purchase i've ever made. oh and Kblair, i'm still kicking. [:S]
  9. lol this thread still going huh.... oh and congrats hofy on the negotiations with gorilla. []
  10. hi all..... been a long time.just thought i'd stop in and see whats up.nice new look. [] anyway i think i have ya all beat.looking at my reciept now and it says 12/07/99.... [] i remember reading the first review i ever saw on them in pc gamer.i ordered them the next day and have been rocking ever since.they still impress friends that come over. i must admit though the last couple years i've been wondering if these things are ever going to die.i've been eyeing the 5.1's but cant seem to bring myself to replace these till they are dead.and thats not happening. edit: omg look at my system specs in my sig... lol lol that system has to be dam near as old as my speakers.that was definetly many system rebuilds ago. lol
  11. ok i haven't been around in awhile but i thought i'd stop by to see if any of the old timers were still around. i've been wanting the 5.1's since they came out but i just can't kill my 4.1's.i've owned them since they were first reviewed in pc gamer about 4 years ago.i read the article and just had to have them.its been pure audio bliss ever since.since i bought mine i am single handedly responsible(with alittle help from the 4.1's )for costing the price of these speakers to alot of my friends. someday maybe i'll have my 5.1's but for now i guess i'll just keep rocking with the good old 4.1's.
  12. wow i cant believe this thread is still up top.seems everytime i come back for a visit there it is.
  13. this one hurts.but comp 1 also. ------------------ tornado 1000, 300w ps epox 8kha+ xp1600+@1.64 pal6035, delta bl 512mb case2 pc2400 radeon 8500 75 gxp 45gig sony 48x,plextor 12/10/32 sbl value opti v95 v2-400's (looks like the pro's outlasted another system )
  14. well i do alot of lanning so i see these vid cards side by side and the best deal is the 8500le(170$).before the gf3 i would of said the ati for sure but the graphic qaulity between the two are now unnoticeable.and i really cant see any 2d qaulity diff anymore either.although to be honest i mostly game on my system so i dont know if id be the best judge of 2d.if you do decide on a nvidia i would suggest the plain old gf3.by far the best bang for the buck. as far as ati drivers, yes they are alittle slow in comming out but the ones now close any performance gap there was and any additional updates will outpace the comp evenmore. ------------------ tornado 1000, 300w ps epox 8kha+ xp1600+@1.64 pal6035, delta bl 512mb case2 pc2400 radeon 8500 75 gxp 45gig sony 48x,plextor 12/10/32 sbl value opti v95 v2-400's (looks like the pro's outlasted another system )
  15. i've had mine since 10/99 and still love em.i haven't unplugged them since day one and haven't had a problem with my pre-amp either.as far as the guy complaning about build qauilty these are by far the best built computer componuts i've ever bought.besides for that early pre-amp problem and acouple logos falling off here and there. ------------------ tornado 1000, 300w ps epox 8kha+ xp1600+@1.64 pal6035, delta bl 512mb case2 pc2400 radeon 8500 75 gxp 45gig sony 48x,plextor 12/10/32 sbl value opti v95 v2-400's (looks like the pro's outlasted another system )
