  1. No Klipsch stuff guys, please don't kill me. I was browsing around and found this thing and it made me laugh. You "horny" guys are the only ones I thought would appreciate it! Don't blame me for any of it I didn't write it. Just wanted to share. http://ohmslaw.com/horn.htm Rob 86 LaScalas with ALKs All Rotel gear Velodyne Sub
  2. Wolfram, I'm familar with that area, I lived in Heinsburg for 4 years and used to go the Altstadt in Dusseldorf at night and the mall in Oberhausen on the weekends. I might take you up on your offer if I am ever in that neck of the woods. I am interested in seeing all your amps! Rob
  3. Wolfram, I live near Kaiserslautern. You?
  4. We bought all the parts from the places Al listed. Thanks Al!! Rob
  5. My old networks were ALs. I'm going to keep them, sorry! Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Rob
  6. Hello Everyone, Here are 4 pictures of my ALKs. The project was a "joint" venture between my father and I. All the work was performed by my father since I live in Germany and he is in Texas, I consulted! We built 2 sets one for his Horns and one for my LaScalas. We designed the label ourselves and had it printed by a label maker. I've fallen in love with the sound of the crossovers and have nothing but good things to say about Al and his wonderful design!! Thanks Al! Please enjoy the pictures and let me know what you think. Oh, I know that the vertical inductors lean a bit, it is due to the windings and cannot be helped! Rob
  7. Gentlemen, I'm sorry! I forgot to get the Rack info to you! I had to dig my receipt out of my file cabinet. Here is where I found it... www.plateaucorp.com Here is the specific rack... http://www.plateaucorp.com/html/fixedshelves/ds-6a.htm Enjoy and let me know if you guys find a nice rack there! Rob
  8. Bill, Thanks for the kind words! I searched and searched for the racks. I didn't take a photo of my TV stand as well but it matches, just shorter and fatter. I forget to tell everyone about my equipment: Rotel RMB-1075 AMP Rotel RSP-1066 Pre/Pro Rotel RCC-1055 CD Changer NAD Tuner Panamax 5300 Surge/Power conditioner Velodyne CHT-150 Sub The little box is my crappy German Sat. Receiver Rob
  9. Please Note: I agree with the posts below that the quality was huge and terrible. I have resized etc and reposted the pics below. They should be much better now. Here are a bunch of quick pics of my Scalas, homemade ALKs, and audio rack! Does anyone have advice as to how to post all the pics in one post and/or make the image show without clicking the link?! Thanks and Enjoy. Rob
  10. Hello, I have been looking at my AL crossovers and have noticed that my woofer is wired out of phase on each one. I am not talking about where the cable that goes to the woofer connects, but on the crossover itself. Is this normal? I know that on ALK's designs he flips the squawker output to make up for an invert in the crossover itself. Is the old AL similar? Am I crazy? Thanks, Rob
  11. Hello, I am in Germany and my father and I are in the process of building 4 of these. He is in the US and I am here and we are each doing parts of the project. I should have mine in a month or so... Let me know if I might be of assistance. Rob
  12. Not to sound stupid, but...what are the little stands for the speaker wires for?
  13. "I would only recommed substituting the Hovlands, and use the RelCap PPT Thetas in their place. Double wound, using low tension -- it's the smoothest, richest sounding cap I've heard. I think the Hovlands sound "zingy"." Thanks for the food for thought! Do you have these caps in your speakers? Dos anyone else have them; or has anyone else listened to them? I am always up for trying something new... Where can I purchase these?
  14. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? La Scala 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 28 3. What is your current age? 31 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? My Father has a set of horns that he bought when I was 4. I measured myself against them as I grew and listened to them while at the neighbors house. He loves his loud music! Since I became an "adult" I have listened to many diffrent speakers and I love these things! Only other speaker I would even consider I think would be a set of B&Ws, and I not spending 16k on a set of those. Besides that would be setteling. When I move back to the US I will find a set of horns to piss my wife off with! 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? Horns! The are awesome. Great Bass response and the look like monoliths in the corners! More La Scalas would be nice also. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? No, They can remain the Jubilee. Leave the Heritige line alone, if they change it they will loose the heritage. Thanks for your responses!! Your Welcome
  15. Levir, Nice network! I bet that makes a diffrence in the sound! Thanks!
  16. Thank you for the help gentlemen! I have been searching around here also and I have found a ton of great information. After the research I am deciding that the La Scala networks should be placed on the right side (from the back) of the cabinet to not interfere with the woofer connection. Is this the general agreement? I know that some people have them on the left, in the original position, but I feel the right would be easier. Any thoughts on this? Rob
  17. Hello, My father and I want to do a joint project and build 2 pair of ALK crossovers. A pair for my La Scalas and a pair for his horns. Is there anything that we need to keep in mind or should be aware of? We have been reading up on the forum and have downloaded all the info from ALK's site. What would be most useful would be lesons learned, options or just anything useful! I also want to say thanks to Al Klappenberger for providing all the information. It is most generous of you to give all the information and support! Thanks everyone! Rob
