  1. Have you checked the klf cabinets for loose front and rear panels? Glue not holding is a known with the cabinets. Not a big deal to fix but it can affect the sound of your speakers. I have a pair of klf 10's I had to fix.

I vote for klf's over heresy, I think the klf's will work better for HT.

We are going to try them as a 2 way first, and then either go with Dave's tweeters, or maybe swap out for the BMS 2 way drivers if neededl

I upgraded my chorus ll DIY center to a 17 by 10in zxpc horn. Was running 2 way with ev dh1a and with eq did not sound bad. Now I am running a de10 danley style and like it better. (Tweeter mounted on horn)

Have you considered running tweeters as meh? The bms2'S do looking interesting and should be easier to deal with.

Looks like an interesting project, I will look forward to seeing your progress.

Look at my post on the thread 1st Take - RF-7III.

That is a 155” DIY screen. Hours of personal labor, with a wall sander making the surface “baby bottom” smooth. But the actual dollar cost was...$90. And this screen has a 1.2 gain. It is about as good as you can get. It looks awesome with my current Epson 5050UB, and looked equally good with my former Panasonic PT-AE8000U.

    Paint formula:

    Base coat - Kilz Primer

Top Coat - Behr Silver Screen / White Opal Pearl

We also installed black velvet drapes.

Ok I will take a look, thanks.

  4. I have a benq w1070 projector I need a screen for. Not top of the line so wondering if it's better to build or buy a screen. (Cost effective) Does not need to be a play thur screen, center channel is below screen.

So if I build is it better to go with black or white screen? (Looking for real world experience if possible) Best material for screen and where to buy. I have done some research so I'am looking for real world experience if possible. Thanks!

  5. I would look at where you can install speakers and amps first before you pick up any equipment. Make sure amps you pick out will fit somewhere they can breathe. Any good speakers can sound bad if installed wrong.

How does your system sound now, image? Is it possible to just upgrade present speakers? I like 8 inch door mounted speakers unfortunately most stock ones are low powered junk. I would look into an upgrade there with sound deadening to keep doors from rattling.(shallow mount 8 inch) If you don't mind cutting maybe larger speakers to replace the 3 inch. This may not be needed with  good shallow mount 8's in the doors, just an upgrade for the 3 inch.

I would go to some car stereo forums and come up with an install plan first then pick out equipment. Yes it's work but will save you headache's in the long run and your system will most likely sound much better.

I would not install a box speaker unless in a van or SUV.  Taking speakers out of box it's design is not good. Installing speaker from box would also be hard to mount.

Also I would not run tweeters or coaxial speakers in the rear for fill. Mid range is ok if not to loud, tweeters in the rear tend to bring sound stage towards back and ruin imaging.

1ohm load most likely designed into crossovers actual speakers are most likely 4 or 8 ohm.

Take your time, plan first and then install and you should come up with and  good system. Cls can be your friend if you don't mind used.
