  1. Thanks for all the input, advice and good thoughts fellas. I have really been sick about this whole thing. Looks like things may work out one way or another afterall. I kind of feel like a d@#$%e bag thinking the worst of the guy after reading the email I just got from his wife, if of course it is true. All things considered, I feel I had reason to be concerned. We shall see.

Anyway, just got this email from Mike's wife about a half hour ago. It reads as follows:

    Hello Jordan,

I am Beth- Mike's wife. Mike told me to log in and email you about the audio equipment you purchased from him (I hope I have the right email address). Mike is back in the hospital and has been unable to talk with you. He has instructed me to either mail your package (which seems to be only "half" packaged) or refund your money. I am making an executive decision to refund your money since I am no expert on proper packing techniques. We still have your original money order- never cashed -never deposited. You should have no trouble taking it back to your local post office and receiving cash for it. Mike has promised not to sell the equipment and offer you the first chance to buy it again upon his healthy return. He is willing to send it in "good faith" (not sure what that means). In the meantime, please accept your money back and our deepest apology.

God willing, he should be home in about 3 days or so. I am spending a lot of time there and may not be able to respond to emails for him.

Your money order was sent to the address written on the money order (hope that's OK). I sent it first class (2 day) with a signature and tracking confirmation. You will need to sign for it. The number is:

    70070710000294599961.

    Sincerely,

    Beth Matthews.

This might as well be true, but when I was scammed, the seller came up with very artistic and realistic excuses... expect the best, but be prepared for the worst.

  2. If this deal goes South, get in touch with the Postal Inspector. I was once sammed for $1500 over an IBM laptop. Paid with USPS MO. The freak scammed about a dozen of people. So all of us reported him to the US Postal Inspector. The guy was caught, tried and sentenced about 3 years later. I never got the money back.

  3. Subject says it - I need an RSW-12 for my new RF-5s. My current 8" Velodyne SPL-800 cannot keep up with the RF-5.

If anyone hears/reads about someone selling RSW-12, I would be interested to find out.

  4. There is a distinction between side surrounds and rear surrounds. If you are only doing 5.1, then you are talking about side surrounds, right? For mostly HT use, the RS series are recommended for side surrounds, but it is a question of preference.

  5. Hey Boston, I'm sure your aren't a scammer or anything like that but dang you are always having to sell stuff cuz you're moving. What's the deal? All you really have to do is offer this stuff for sale. You seem to offer good prices. It's ok to just be selling stuff. You don't need a story about why. It just makes it look scammish, that's all. Maybe it's just me.

I have thought the same thing.

Boston is not a scammer, I have purchased equipment from him, and I recommend him.

  6. I am thinking of experimenting and changing the RF-5 tweeter with K-67-DV 1.75" tweeter (found on RF-7, RC-7).

    Has anyone tried this?

    Does anyone know what the impedence difference is between K-67-DV 1.75" (RC-7, RF-7) and K-119-KB 1" (RF-5)?

RC-7 and RF-5 both use a couple of K-1083-SB 8" woofers, but a different tweeter.

Apart from changing the impedance curve, are there any potential damages I may cause in trying?
