  1. thanks guys, i do have diana krall (LOVE HER), and thanks for the other names in the jazz area, since i picked up diana a few weeks ago i love jazz, do any of you know of any good 6.1 recordings? thanks, mark
  2. ok guys here it is, in 1 1/2 years my son will be getting his drivers liscence, and because of his outstanding performance in school dad has to buy him his new car (new?) so my dilema is that i need to get my sound system where i want it and pay it off before than, so, to all of you intelligent klipsh people i need to know if my system were yours what would you do to make it everything you expect, after reading the other forums, i understand that my reciever is considered too bright in its performance, so let me have it, how can i correct all of my systems shortcomings? my current system is as follows: ONKYO TX DS797 RECIEVER ONKYO DV-C600 DVD/CD PLAYER ROTEL RCD-991 CD PLAYER RF 5'S FRONTS RF 3II'S SATELITES RC 3II'S FRONT/REAR CENTER KSW 12 SUB all wired in monster cable (#12) fronts and front center wired in monster z cable i understand that my system is good, but i know all of you have ideas that can help me to get a great system, and yes wes, i am going to get the svs sub, thanks, mark
  3. well guys, you sure have given me alot to think about, tell me, is there really that big a difference between the heritage series, and the reference series? and is the rf7 closer to the timbre and agressive nature of the heritage series? i have been thinking of listening to music in 2 channel, and 6.1 for movies, as stated earlier, i am just looking for the best way to use my sound system.
  4. you know, i hadnt really thought of it, i dont know if i would like to seperate the set, ? make an offer. marksainz@msn.com
  5. forrr the cans and associated gear it is about an $1,100 package, and i am only looking for about $500, mark
  6. no, i wouldnt say you missed put, i was merely saying that you would probably have saved much more money, plus you would also have a really good headphone amp, no offence meant, mark
  7. i know these are very green questions, but as a new guy they are important, as a result of advice on this site, i have expanded greatly in my appreciation of music, and sound in general, so please do not think of my questions as inept, just new, mark
  8. sorryyyyyy, audiophile magazine said that the HD600 were like being in the auditorium during an live performance, and it also said that the grado RS 2's were like sitting in the orchestra, especially when accompanied with a good headphone amp, i know music is largly subjective, but you missed out on a heck of a deal. again, sorryyyyyyy. mark
  9. hello everyone, the prices for the items i listed were the new price, as i said i am trying to sell them to upgrade my new system, so i am willing to bargain, as far as the headphones are concerned go to either the grado site, or the headroom site, these are amayzing headphones and amplifier, thanks mark
  10. good to hear from you, i did not explain myself well, the video had so much that in those moments that contained alot of base, the fire fights, it was so true, so powerfull that i had to turn the volume down, my next door neighbor knocks at my door and tells me he thinks there are drive bye's going on, he is an old timer that appall's music, he said the tunes get stuck in his head and he cant rid himself of the noise? anyway i have seen both of the mentioned movies, and they are both excellent, except "we were soldiers" had a better more heroic story line, and black hawk down had excellent effects and sound, as did we were soldiers, except that soldiers had 4 times more action, well worth a viewing, mark
  11. 0k shapeshifter, i did as you sugested, but i have to admit, my sub sounded really good, and than i watched the new release "we were soldiers" and the sub was awsome, you need to check this movie out, it has sooooo much bass that at times i had to turn it down (neighbors),anyway i am learning, i have been trying to build a system for 3-4 years now, and instead of getting informed advice i always spoke to sales people, until i purchased my klipsh i had no point of reference, and i did that as a response to the polk guru on the polk site, he told me that my onkyo 797 was not a worthy reciever for his polk speakers, so i went looking, i took my $5,000 and began auditioning klipsh's, they have always been my dream speakers, and i noticed that i spent a little more than the supposed polk equals, but the sound coming out of the reference series was far brighter, more detailed, what i am trying to say is, i will continue to build my system, and i would like continued advice from all who feel that they can help, and yes i do think i am going to invest in an svs sub, even though the ksw 12 seems adequate, i want awesome, new questions, why would i want an upsampling dac? why would i put an seperate amp on my front channels? and is my purchase of the rotel RCD 991 a step in the right direction i bought it for $799, i did do a little research on this model before i bought it.and is the difference between heritage and reference that great that it would be noticable? thanks, mark
  12. i love my klipshe's, and i need more input on instrumental's, i hear music in a veru new way now and i want to explore more sound variations, plus i hear the sound quality found on cd's purchased through the record clubs is substandard, is this true, or is this a good way to get good cheap music?
  13. well guys thanks, i appreciate your honesty, and it did confirm my thoughts, so i did take some of your advice. i went and auditioned a few cd players, and i ended up buying a rotel RCD 991 player, it as with my klipsh purchase added so much more depth, so much more pleasure to my listening experience, so i ask again, if my current system were yours, what would be your next steps to bettering the sound? again in advance, thanks for your help, mark
  14. hello everyone, i have 1 pr. of grado RS-2 headphones, a headroom supreme headphone amp., and an 10' length of teds excellent headphone extension cable... plus i have 2 sony MZ-R70 minidisc player/recorders, all items are in near new condition, havent had much reason to listen to them since i get my klipch system.... the cans listed @ $475.00 the amp @$450.00 the extension cable listed @$100.00, the sony's listed @$275.00, i am trying to sell to help me purchase heritage series speakers to be used as front chanel/two chanel for my existing klipsh system, or trade for used klipsh heritage series, any takers? i am willing to deal, thanks
  15. thanks for all of the grear advise guys, and let me see if i can explain a little better, as i said earlier i have RF 5's for my fronts, RF 3's for my satelites, RC 3's for my front and rear center's with an ksw 12 for my sub....... i want! to get heresy series for my front chanels, move the 5's to the satelite position, the 3's to the front and rear center chanel position (and use the rc 3's for 2 chanel on my yamaha micro system), now is this set up wise? second part of the question is the rotel cd player, currently i use a mediocre sony cd-md player/ burner, and i am told that for the reciever and speakers in comparison my cd player is a joke, at this point would it be wiser to first buy the cd player, or look for the heresy's? thanks in advance
  16. me again, i need to mention that i have never auditioned any of the upper end heritage speakers, no one either owns them or sells them here in denver, and soundtrack tells me that if i would like they could order them for me sight unseen, and there would be a 2-6 month lead time on them as they only make them to order any more, plus the quoted prices are very high. does anyone have any help in this area as well? mark
  17. thanks guys, your guidance and opinions are of extreem value to me, i have a new problem, i want to upgrade my front chanells, and i want something from the heritage series, i have looked into the heresy, the la scala, and the clipshorn, by what i have described in my stereo what would you buy if it were your system, my listening area measures 15* 15 i listen to music alot as well as view movies, i have also researched rotel cd players and will also upgrade to that, but what sounds like i need the most help? my goal is audio extacy, plus i hear everyone talk about tweaking thier speakers? and what is HT? THANKS MARK
