  1. I recently purchased a used R80SWi from the Goodwill app that was listed with and had pics of the wireless transmitter unit along with the sub itself. Of course when it arrived, the transmitter is nowhere to be found, and the seller can’t locate it. My current TV sound setup is one R80SWi paired with a set of The Fives, and I was planning to add this as a second sub in the opposite corner to really round out the bass. I know that two subs cannot both be bound to the same transmitter, so my plan was to use a Y-connector and have both transmitters running from the subwoofer out on the Fives. The placement of the subs will not allow for hardwiring. My question is, will any generic Bluetooth transmitter work with these, or do I have to use the proprietary Klipsch transmitter box? Attached is a pic of a random no-name cheap one I found on eBay…would something like that work? The Klipsch transmitters are hard to find and cost more than what I paid for the whole sub. Do these just run on standard Bluetooth or is there something special going on where only the Klipsch transmitters will work?

  3. Glad to hear Klipsch is aware and supposedly working on it. Sounds like a widespread problem, and like many said, completely unacceptable in a premium (or actually any) product. A few weeks ago I disabled the auto-power off, and now just leave the speakers on all the time. This has “resolved” the problem, although I won’t call it a fix. I have used the app a few times because the speakers don’t remember the equalizer settings between uses (another stupid problem that needs fixing), but using the app hasn’t seemed to cause any issues as long as the speakers remain turned on 24/7.
  4. Any ideas for a fix on this? I have had a set of The Fives for just over a year, mostly using them for TV sound from our Samsung The Frame. I have had a few HDMI ARC hiccups from time to time, similar to others I have seen posted here. Usually a quick power on/off or reset of the TV’s sound settings fixes things. For a couple of weeks however, the speakers have stopped working completely. They power on and all the LED lights beside the volume and input wheels work as they should, but there is no sound from any source. In the past when there were HDMI issues, the Bluetooth and aux/phono inputs still worked normally. Now no inputs work. They do seem to be switching between inputs according to the LED’s, just no sound. If I unplug the speakers and let them sit a minute then plug back in, they will work normally. But after the TV is off for a while, when I turn it back on the same problem happens. They were updated with the latest firmware back when it first came out and have been working fine with it until now. I have also performed a factory reset of both the speakers and the TV. I swear they must have been programmed to self destruct one week after my warranty expired. I’m a huge Klipsch fan and I love their sound and style, so I’d love to get them working and keep them especially considering what they cost. But this is incredibly disappointing and frustrating, especially after the amount of software hiccups I’ve already put up with over the last year.
  5. I installed the update yesterday, and am having the exact same subwoofer issue with the sub output volume being significantly, almost absurdly greater than before. My sub is the Klipsch R-80SWi connected wirelessly. I had the gain knob on about 50% before the update, and now can't set it above about 5-10% without starting to get distortion, and probably 2-3% brings it about in line with what the pre-update output was with the knob at 50%. Even with that adjustment, the bass still sounds a bit muddier overall to me. In the app I have the sub output set at the default reset level, and dynamic bass off. Overall this is a noticeable downgrade in sound, and I am not very happy with the result. I am hoping this was a mistake and they issue a software update soon. In the meantime, a few questions: In theory, for a given subwoofer volume level, will the overall sound quality be better with the gain set very low and a high input signal, or with the gain set closer to 50% and the subwoofer output signal decreased with the app? According to what I can tell from the Fives and the subwoofer instructions, given that the Fives have the built in subwoofer crossover at 80 Hz, I should be setting the crossover knob on the sub to LFE. However, in doing this, I can tell a very noticeable increase in the sub output than when setting the knob at 80 or even 120 HZ. I realize the crossover is not a going to be a sharp cutoff, but this tells me that the sub output from the Fives is possibly sending a lot of signal above the 80 Hz point. Maybe this has something to do with the huge increase in subwoofer strength with this update? Does anyone know if the crossover in the Fives is adjustable with software, or is it a set hard circuit? Could it be possible the Fives are now erroneously sending more of a full spectrum signal from the sub output? Also, what are other people generally doing with their crossover knobs on their subs?
