What are your thoughts on it?

I love my Planar 3 but years ago I settled in my cart.

At first the upper frequencies seemed a bit harsh. After about 15 hours and playing around with my phono preamplifier settings the upper frequencies are starting to smooth out. Bass is spectacular.

Don't have any experience with that cartridge, but here's a good multi post discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the rega tt/ania combo:

I must say your "ancillary" equipment (LS, QS, Bottlehead, etc.) should go a long way to bringing out the best in any cartridge.

I tried many different preamplifiers including NAD, Marantz, and even Mcintosh. Nothing comes close to the Bottlehead. Very simple design. I picked it up on my local Craigslist about 4 years ago for a couple hundred. The person I bought it from didn't build it but whoever did, did a superb job.

  3. Installed a Rega Ania MC on a Rega P3 with a Rega Neo power supply. The rest of my gear. Klipsch 1990 La Scala, Quicksilver Horn Mono tube, Bottlehead Foreplay preamplifier tube, Vincent PHO 701 phono preamplifier, Klipsch SW ii 12 subwoofer. Was using Ortofon Blue 2m cartridge. Any thoughts on the Rega Ania MC cartridge?

  4. My "other system"

1990 La Scalas, Quicksilver 25watt Horn Mono tube amps, Bottlehead Foreplay preamplifier, Rega Planer 3 with Ortofon Blue cartridge, Vincent phono preamplifier, Rega Apollo CD player. Spinning Pink Floyd Meddle remastered vinyl while posting this. Never sounded better! Sorry for the black and white photo. Will not upload color photo.

impressive , a time capsule  ,the preamp  looks brand new

I bought the Mcintosh from someone who owned it for 40 years and he was the second owner. It was well taken care of. I tried many different preamps with good results but this is outstanding!! I can't believe how my Decware 2.3 watt amp can make my Forte ii sing! So musical. So full.

  6. Just picked up a Mcintosh C26 from Craigslist. My setup now includes the Mcintosh preamplifier. Decware 2watt tube amplifier, a Bluesound music streamer, And Forte ii speakers. This my first Mac and it pairs well with Decware. All I can say is WOW!!!

Bet it does sound good. Yes I tend to listen at higher volume

than some. Enter the Chorus I happened to realize in lieu of pay at a home theater retail, and I was ecstatic. When I said rock, could include some metal.

Hard rock... DP, Johnny W, Blue Cheer, Beck...it was mostly records then for me. And spinning now.

I was using 2 hafler 9270 ss amps bridged in mono putting out I believe 400watts per channel with my La Scalas years ago. I think it was pumping out 120+ decibels!!

Just about everything you can think of except maybe the very newest. Classical, rock, blues,  boogie, soundtracks, jazz, new wave, etc...real country.

I listen to everything from Mozart to Metallica. Classical, jazz, and blues sound excellent through tubes. When playing hard rock or heavy metal solid state to me seems to sound better.

No I am solid state. Did have a bass guitar tube amp long ago.

I switched over to tubes about 6 years ago. I was using my 2watt decware to power my La Scalas. Then 2 1/2 years ago I replaced the decware with 25watt Quicksilver horn mono amps. Love em!!
