  1. Cacti, I happen to have the NR1200 paired with some Forte IIs (I just made a post about the pairing). And I ALSO came across that review on crutchfield. šŸ˜¢ unfortunately I have to agree with the reviewer. I wanted a setup that would work for my tv arc, and the nr1200 seemed to be the perfect fit, and I heard Marantz had a warm sound. After hooking it up, I thought it sounded ā€œgoodā€. Then I hooked up an old Sony TA-5650 and was literally blown away! In my case, the Marantz NR1200 is a poor pairing. Thin and lifeless. Iā€™m looking into the Blusound Node and purchasing a new integrated amp that will work better with my fortes. Itā€™s a shame I canā€™t demo all these amps before picking one out. who knew speakers could be so picky! good luck in your search. Iā€™ll let you know if I find a good match. cheers
  2. Hey yall! I restored a pair of Forte IIā€™s and replaced the capacitors. I bought a Marantz NR-1200 as I thought it would be a nice pairing. I really liked having the option of the HDMIā€¦.especially making it easier for the wife to use the system as it is connected to the Apple TV and I can do everything with one remote. I recently borrowed an old Sony TA-5650 from my father and hooked it up to my Fortes via laptop with my iBasso Dac. Holy Moly! I thought I was listening to a totally different system! The detail, separation, and fullness was amazing! I couldnā€™t believe what was coming out of these speakers!!! Now I need to replace the Marantz. šŸ˜ž So now Iā€™m thinking of picking up a Blusound node and hooking it up to either this Sony, or maybe trying to find a modern integrated amp that works well with the Forte IIs. Has anyone used a setup like this? Does anyone have recommendations for an integrated amp that pairs well with Forte IIs thatā€™s UNDER say $800? Cambridge audio? Iā€™d love a tube amp but they all seem about $2000+. would appreciate any input.
  3. Thanks everyone for the input/suggestions! Im going to try to get to painting this weekend. Satin Black, 2 coats. Should be good to go. Will send some photos when they are done. Cheers,
  4. Here are some photos of the speakers so far.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/10ye6SSCrMyDEulk3nuBhj1xhIngQ3C-L/view?usp=share_link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SsdHtNF2Irmo03gUJbsTi_oOa4nP4bhV/view?usp=share_link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MSPaBQw-2IVAGRTJDZuIZoKD6yA5oTkN/view?usp=share_link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1heVrZgbzkd5LXWWEI31jgu6QgkB-gMHF/view?usp=share_link
  5. Hello! Picked up a pair of Forte IIā€™s. Looking to clean them up a bit, I decided to sand to get out some imperfections and repaint them black. I donā€™t care about exactly matching the original black. Iā€™m having a hard time finding the right process and paint. I donā€™t want to get extremely involved or sped tons of money on equipment. Looking to throw down a few coats of spray paint. so my questionsā€¦. If I use ā€œregularā€ spray paint, do I need to do multiple coats and do I need to finish with a clear coat? if I use spray paint lacquer do I need to do multiple coats and do I need to do a clear coat on top? Any recommendations on the process and any recommendations on the type of spray pain I would greatly appreciate. will try to get some photos uploaded/hyperlinked
