  1. There's a right or wrong answer for every individual, but not universally. Personally, I have a decent level of playback rig for both CD and vinyl, and enjoy both in pretty equal amounts....mood, music, recording, number of glasses of wine, all play a role in which sounds better to me in a given listen...

  2. We're pretty lucky at our place in Fort Worth. Quite a bit of my property, landscaping and my pool have been brutalized, but we're thankful....

1 - everyone here is safe and sound

2 - the house has been relatively untouched

3 - the audio room is upstairs.....[;)]

All in all a pretty tough spring for our area, lots of homes and some lives lost, it's been really rough and pretty depressing....but soon it will be 105 and we'll have more bugs than ever before, so we have that going for us!

Thanks for the kind thoughts and well wishes guys....

  3. Off topic, but I did start this thread five years ago...thought you guys might get a laugh out of this...I forgot I ever owned a Jolida player until I saw this thread again today, and even then it took me a few minutes to recollect, I was worried someone had posted under my name until I saw the date......I can't remember what tubes I ended up with....but did get a kick out of how far my brain has declined, okay maybe it was depressing......[:$]

  4. Hi guys, I hosted the amp shootout at my place and was the "roadie" who determined the shootout method, switched all the gear as we went and did all the writing for the article. I had the luxury of having all the amps in my place for a couple of weeks prior and the Trends is a sweet little performer. A couple guys I know have the Michael Mardis modded version and have said it is a step way up from the stock, just more of everything...that's second hand so insert grain of salt here....the speakers from the shootout are 91db efficient line arrays, so I think you'd get some more out of them driving horns than we heard, but peaks of 80ish were the best it could get on my speakers....very balanced sound and really incredible tonality with it....I got one just because it sounded so sweet...now to find some horns for a second system with it....
