  1. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter? Any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful as I've tried everything I know how. Thanks
  2. I'm using the Promedia 5.1's as well as the DD-5.1 decoder and have a problem with the volume being quite low, even when turned up to maximum. My setup consists of a Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum along with the previous stated Klipsch products. I'm using an RCA cable that goes from the SPDIF out on my SB Audigy 2 Platinum LiveDrive to the DD-5.1 decoder RCA digital in. The DD-5.1 functions correctly (whether the signal is Dolby, DTS, or stereo), so everything seems fine. The only problem I have is even when I have the software SB volume controls turned all the way up in Windows, along with the volume level on the DD-5.1 (0 decibels) and with the volume on my Promedia 5.1 pod set to 80, the sound isn't exactly loud. It's at a comfortable listening level. I'm wondering what could be the cause of this. The RCA cable I'm using is quite old but even when I tried purchasing a Monster 3 foot optical cable for $40, the sound volume was still the same. I'm not sure what else to try. If anyone knows of a way to fix this or has an opinion on the matter, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.
  3. I bought some y-adapters from Radio Shack. Run two sets of audio cables, one from the analog outs on the sound card, and one from the outs on the DD-5.1, then plug them into the y-adapters (same channel (from DD-5.1 and sound card outs) on each adapter and plug the 3 adapters into the Promedia Sub. This will allow you to at least play EAX games using analog sound. And if you want digital output instead for movies and such, you only need to check the Digital Output Only box in your sound properties. Works great with my SB Audigy 2 Platinum. Geoff
  4. I had this exact same question. It's my understanding that it's not possible to achieve this. If you want EAX capability, you have to use the analog outputs on your sound card. Otherwise, the best you can do is enable ProLogic decoding on the DD-5.1 (in which case you still won't get the environmental effects of EAX but it'll somewhat play out of all of your speakers instead of just your front speakers (Stereo). What I did in order to be able to play EAX games and also watch movies/listen to music using the DD-5.1 was buy 3 Headphone Cable Y-Adapters from Radio Shack and plug them into the inputs on the back of the Promedia Sub. Then I ran a set of 3 audio cables (stereo cables) from the DD-5.1 to one of the inputs on 3 Y-Adapters and also ran a set of 3 audio cables from the sound card analog outputs to the other input on the Y-Adapter. Then all you have to do is open the Creative Speaker Settings and check (if you want to use the DD-5.1) / uncheck (if you want to use the analog outputs on the sound card for EAX) the Digital Output Only box. Everything works perfectly for me. Hope this helps.
