  1. - 8 here in the Hartland this morning. Will the Packer offisive linemen still wear short sleeve jerseys?
  2. The line has moved up to Packers (- 7.5). It seems Packer Fans often bet with their heart so I expect the line to move even further. If you want to bet on the Giants I suggest you wait for a better deal. FWIW, I doubt 10 is enough but then again.............I'm a Packer Fan![]
  3. Gary – If you were coming I’d be going. No worries about pneumonia but I recall my cardiologist sayin’ heat was better than cold and to be careful in extreme weather. I don’t know….. I’ve been out blowin’ snow in pretty wicked stuff but that isn’t a 4 to 5 hour deal. Going up to Green Bay for a game makes for a long day, especially with it being the late game. The kids will stay up at Kyle’s apartment on Saturday & Sunday so they’ll only be half the distance we’d have to drive. They’re really pumped!
  4. The weather forecast for Green Bay this Sunday is cold. I guess they’re callin’ for game time temperatures to be zero or below so the only question is how low will it go! Health concerns preclude me from sitting out in that weather for an extended period of time and since my wife prefers the comforts of home; the boomac kids and two friends will once again get to enjoy the experience. Yeah, I could have sold them and made a good buck but that ain’t why we have them. Besides, I can always say, "hey………..REMEMBER those Packer play-off games"! BTW, the Giants better be ready to “cowboy up” [] cause it’s going to be tough!
  5. Another game like that and Jerry’s apt to check out permanently! How long do you give Coach Phillips?
  6. Gary – I’m a little sick of seeing it myself. Brett is no doubt a great QB but unlike the hardcore cheese heads, I'm not sure he’s the greatest ever. If the Packers and Patriots play the media will go nuts comparing the two and that will get really boring. This GB Team has a great defensive backfield and that will help if they get to play the Patriots. Still, they won’t be able to keep the Brady Bunch out of the end zone and will have to score at least 28 points to win. Maybe more! But wait…..! We still have to beat the Giants and that won’t be any cake walk. Better them in Lambeau then facing the Cowboys in Dallas and I'm darn happy we don’t have to worry about Marion Barber. That guy is pure hell on D Backs!
  7. A Tuna without a Bellicheck is like every other fish in the sea![] Romo is a good QB and watching Marion Barber is a treat, (when he's not playing against your favorite team). I think the Giants wanted that game more than the Cowboys and they may have been out coached, especially in the second half. I enjoyed the Strahan comment about TO and the popcorn. I just read that Jimmy Johnson said there are people that think the Colts are/were the best team in the NFL and the only team that could beat the Patriots. If that's the case then the Chargers and Packers have a chance. Green Bay has already beat the Giants and Chargers. It's hard to beat the same team twice but I think you can throw that logic out at this time of year.
  8. It’s going to be one cold mama up at Lambeau on Sunday. In fact, it might get down to 5 degrees. I heard the tickets were selling for somewhere between Heresy and Cornwall prices but I still figure to go. I think the first NFL Championship Game I ever saw, (on TV) was the Packers vs the Giants. My Uncle was rooting for the Giants so I cheered for Green Bay. (I lived outside Philadelphia at that time). YA Tittle & Bart Starr were the QBs and I’ve been a fan ever since the Pack won the game. I think it was 16 to 7.
  9. Guess who's going to Lambeau Sunday?[]
  10. The Patriots have a great team, great QB and a great coach. It will take a triple fluke to beat those guys. My kids called a little while ago and they are still ranting on about the Packer Game. With the snow, my daughter & her friends only drove to Oshkosh (where my son goes to school) and they spent the night at his place. On the way out of the stadium they met some people who invited them to a post game tailgate party where they had an absolute blast. Kyle even got a job interview out of the deal. Go Giants! Turned the Cotls vs Chargers on but I see Dierdorff is commentating. Probably won’t be able to watch too much of that. There’s just something about the guy. He was a great player and he knows the game but I really can’t stand his commentary. His tendency to kiss butt drives me up the wall.
  11. There usually is one and I hope it's in the Big D!
  12. Now I can relax and enjoy the night game! The kids called and said it was one fantastic experience. Most of the action was at their end of the field, the crowd was really into it and they had a great time. Brett is unbelievable. Now I have to worry about them driving home in all that snow. Look out Dallas............Eli's Coming and Boomac needs a Giant Win!
  13. Did m00n move to North Carolina? [:^)]
  14. I suspect the Packers are over achievers this year but this rookie coach has a lot on the ball. He can stand toe to toe with big Mike and with the home field advantage I think an upset is unlikely. BTW, my kids and a couple friends are using the tickets. The Giant vs Cowboy game will be interesting. The Giants have a better chance of beating the Cowboys than the Seahawks have in topping the Packers. The Jags ain’t going to beat the Patriots without a major fluke or two. They will be away, over matched and out coached. I don’t see how the heck could they ever win this game? The Colt vs Charger game is apt to be a good one but once again, the home team has the better QB and way better coach. Packers – I’d really like to go the NFC Championship Game Giants - This is wishful thinking but I figure the Giants have the best chance for an upset. Patriots – They’re not undefeated for nothing! Colts – Good game but QB & coaching give Colts the nod. Remember: Romo is a Cheese head!
  15. I thought temptation in a bar or casino would be the most difficult but that’s never been the case. I was tempted to smoke when my Dad was ill and fading but I thought about my kids and the urge past. On the other hand, I recently saw something on eBay that reminded me how much I did enjoy puffing. It was a post card of the Point Diner in Somers Point NJ and I was instantly reminded of my youth, great looking waitresses, a fantastic grilled cinnamon bun, several cups of black coffee and a few Marlboro reds!
  16. Congratulations to all of you who have stopped puffing! You've done yourself a great favor and should be very proud. I quit 8 years ago and although I miss it at times I’ll not go back. For me it was easy…..I just think about the chest pains! Quitting before you suffer a critical experience may be difficult but it’s a really good thing!
  17. Well I sure as heck hope you're right![]
  18. I feel bad that Gary won’t be heading out here for a big game. That missed field goal killed the Redskins! The Seahawks better step it up a notch or two if they want to be competitive up in Lambeau. They didn’t show me much today!
  19. Funny! Off the top of my head I can’t name one Redskin Player. Wait…..is there a guy named Collins? Is he that Penn State QB that graduated back in the 80s? Guess I'll have to watch closely this weekend incase Gibbs pulls them through.[]
  20. For several reasons I hope it comes down to Washington vs Green Bay! GMan vs Boomac! The long range weather report ain’t bad Gary. Figure the 20s, sun shine and a GB win! That’s if we get the chance! If we do, please promise not to laugh at the folks that put cheese on their heads. For some reason they feel it necessary to accommodate the FIP!
  21. If you enjoy football and especially if you’ve ever been in a huddle you’ll love this. The local station was interviewing Mark Tauscher, (the great tackle form Wisconsin) on Mike McCarthy’s Packer Show. I tuned in late but I think they were talking about Favre’s relationship with the offensive line. Here’s the set-up: When Tauscher was a rookie he was afraid to speak to Bret Farve unless spoken to first. He knew that Bret and Frank Winters, (the Packers center at the time) were buddies. During Mark’s rookie season they were playing up at the Metrodome. On one particular pass play Frank Winters totally missed his block and Farve was hit hard and sacked. Winters trots back to the huddle and says, “Dude, you gotta get rid of the ball quicker”. Anyway, I think the Packer defensive backs will be a key factor in the play offs. With Charles Woodson healthy they’re tough! If the offense can play two great games I figure they’ll get a shot at the Pats. Woodson on Moss! That would be interesting.
  22. That settles it! I"ll let the kids go to the game in two weeks and I'll wait for the Skins to beat the Cowboys and come to Lambeau for the Championship game on Jan. 20th. You got warm boots Gary? There ain't no global warming in Wisconsin![] BTW, Tony Romo's a cheese head!
  23. Audible – I went to the 2003 play-off game against Atlanta only to have the Packers lay and egg. You got a sense the minute they came onto the field that they weren’t going to win. Michael Vick had a great game but seriously, he was playing against a team that was either unprepared or unconvinced they could win. I blame Mike Sherman, the coach at the time, for the lack of fire! It was like……we drove 3 hours in this traffic, sat in the cold and were forced to watch this? Then came Sherman’s bone head decisions during the Eagles play-off game in 04. My brother had tickets to that fiasco and I almost flew in to attend. My old friends and relatives in the Delaware Valley are still laughing about that one. I do like our new coach tho’ and I credit him, (for the most part) with this season’s success. The team is usually prepared and they look like a tightly knit team. I’m still on the fence!
  24. I had Forte IIs and Quartets at the same time and they're both excellent speakers. At one time we had the Forte IIs up front with an Academy and the Quartets for surrounds and that was one killer HT system. I only sold my Quartets because they were oak and I preferred the walnut oil of the Forte IIs. I would consider a pair of walnut Quartets if I found them close by. For two channel I prefer the Forte IIs. We currently have them in that mode with a Scott 299 and an Eastern Electric Tube CD Player. In a 14 X 12 room they are wonderful. Perhaps, like Bill H mentioned, the Forte IIs have a slightly more significant sound stage and I agree they do seem a bit warmer. Maybe slightly sweeter is a better description. With either there is plenty of bass to go with the smooth and accurate mids. I think overall size and the woofers are the only differences. Same crossovers specs as well.
